The LOSERBOY infodump

hello! my name is keyesgen! i made the visions! it was difficult to put the song together. i recently made another vocal synth original and wanted to talk about that, too. maybe i make this a series?

please note that while i'm very vague, this writeup does talk about disease in animals. please skip this post if that's sensitive for you!

LOSERBOY is about a boy that is a loser, but in an affectionate "omg that's my little guy" kind of way. dog imagery and the main art features a dog guy. this is literal. i wrote the song about my dog, dagwood. this comes almost 2 years after chihuahua song, where i challenged myself to write a song in his perspective. this song is in my own.

dagwood is 11 years old and a chihuahua-pomeranian mix, he's 20 pounds and slightly smaller than a shiba inu. he was diagnosed with cushing's disease (tl;dr he overproduced cortisol) and it has made him more annoying.

because of the overproduction of cortisol, he's not able to regulate how thirsty/hungry he is and drinks way too much water and eats way too fast. because he always felt super hungry, he would complain constantly for food. the medication is helping him, but he's still complaining constantly for food. because he learnt that if he's annoying enough we'll often cave.

he's also started recently complaining about being let into the bathroom when my mom goes in. she'll go in and shuts the door... and he will sit there and start crying to be let in. i just remember looking at him and going "wow. you're really annoying sometimes" and then it hit me that i should write a song about it.

i call him annoying, a loser, a pathetic little guy... all as terms of endearment, and i wanted to write a song to show my love for him, especially as the future with his disease is uncertain and uneasy.

the production was inspired by fishmonger era underscores, specifically your favourite sidekick and spoiled little brat. it's still my own, but the song kind of felt thematically fitting because he himself is a spoiled little brat (affectionate)

that's all i have to say for LOSERBOY! it's a silly little song i made in a few days and submitted to vocacolle on a whim. i'm working on my album and vocagathering song as well and i may do more writeups for those!!
