it's extremely telling that they spend so much time and energy going out of their way to bully and belittle those of us who love Elriel. if you were actually confident in your ship you wouldn't feel the need to do that. Elriel content angers them because it's the most realistic. many of the scenes they see in our beautiful fanart are real scenes they read in the books and they hateee it. deep down they know it's coming, but instead of acknowledging that, they lash out instead. they hate the fact that we have so much actual canon content, and they have like...a paragraph and vibes.

Okay but seriously? The vibes are immaculate. They’ve got that soft sunshine x brooding shadows energy, and it just works. Like, aesthetically alone they’re stunning: her in floral, light and delicate, and him all shadows and silent intensity. It’s giving “light in the dark,” “the storm loves the flower,” all those Pinterest-core poetic things...

What makes them even more interesting is the emotional tension. They’re quiet around each other, but you can feel everything simmering under the surface. They’re not the loudest ship, but that’s kind of the appeal... they’re slow, soft, and full of yearning. It’s like their whole dynamic is made of silence and glances and unspoken promises.

Whether they end up together or not, the Elriel aesthetic and emotional potential is unmatched

When people say that Elain doesn't deserve Azriel, what do they genuinely mean? Like what is she supposed to do or hasn't done to deserve him?

Also, is it the human Elain who doesn't deserve him? Or the Fae Elain? Because the Fae Elain is a pretty bad bitch considering that she is literally a toddler in Fae existence, and yet she already killed the King of Hybern and found the Suriel.

How does him being a torturer and someone who casually destroyed a village alongside Rhys and Cassian play into Elain not deserving him?

Elain is barely 25 years old, and he is 540. What is it that is making her undeserving of him? That she didn't grow potatoes at one point in her life?

For 5 years I've been trying to understand this 'deserving' bit and I still don't.

Elain did not go through the horrors of the cauldron, betrayal from the person she trusted, the burden of ending a life with her own hands that earned her the title KINGSLAYER for you to dumb her down into a weak gardener. Shaking and vibrating with anticipation of her showing us her true strength, a power so earth shattering because Elain is a fucking badass in her own right. This is not her villain arc, this is her main character heroine journey.

And bonus bc Az is gonna fucking flip like a light switch cause it turns him on sO MUCH.

The way Elain managed to dim her beauty in Hewn City *probably with the help of Nuala and Cerridwen* deserves more discussion than the tired claim that she doesn't belong in the Night Court. When she wanted to, she blended in effortlessly and went unnoticed for the rest of the ball. If something had needed to be done in Hewn City without drawing attention, she could have done it with ease.
