Alan Bigelow
Alan Bigelow is an artist, a poet, a storyteller his life is dedicated to creating flash stories on the web. He has created many and is creating more so that people who enjoy his work can read more from. He has his own touch creating his stories they are just amazing the way he does it. He incorporates videos, images, sounds and any other thing he can think off to his works to make them entertaining to the reader. He has been one of my favorites upon reading his works and I know that I will be his fan until the end, because he truly is an amazing writer and creator.
Originally he was a fiction writer in many text genres, and he holds a Ph.D. from the State university of New York and a Master’s degree in English in that same university and anther in creative writing from the university of Colorado. And in the early 2000 he since the personal computer was hitting it big he started to work with flash creating stories as multimedia events. And also he started using the web because he felt it was a free market for new genres and within digital fiction, a relatively undiscovered area of exploration. So he decided to keep writing for the web creating new stories while he worked as a professor in Medaille College. He has created lots of works and I consider all of them good, but some really get my attention and make me keep reading and loving them more and more. His style is based on three things, the fiction should be multimedia events, they should be easy to navigate and they should be interactive.
One of his works that really caught my eye from the beginning is “When I was president”. It starts off by asking “is your computer sound on” and that’s something typical in his works. Then directs the reader to the main interface, which is a picture of the white house with the word president in the middle. And each letter is in a circle, because the reader has to click on them so the story can begin. Each letter is a different thing he would if he was president. All of those things are not what presidents usually do, because each story told in each letter is as if he was already the president.
This to me is very entertaining and easy to read as he intended to be that way. And the interface is an easy one just clicking on a letter to see, hear and read the story that is being told. As he likes to do easy stories for the better understanding of the reader, and also very easy interfaces. In each story represented by the letters, the sentences are shown with a video behind them and a picture that symbolizes being a president. Another thing is that in each segment of the story each song is different; I believe that he does this so the pictures and video can be identified more easily. And when all the letter have been read and heard the last part of the story appears and this last part has a black background with just an annoying sound that can make anyone crazy if listened for too long. And it’s about his death as the president that’s why he made it like that to symbolize the death of him.
This is one of the easiest of his works, it is very easy to understand and entertaining to read. It is not difficult not a single bit and its fun for the reader to understand. And it’s as easy as “American Ghost story” which is about historical names in America’s history. And is done the same way in his own style, as the reader clicks on then names a video appears next to it and text un the bottom. And in each video there is a person talking, I believe that those people talking have the same names as the historical figures and that stuff they are saying is about them. Another thing is that where the names appear as the reader clicks to see the video historical images appear in each template that the names are.
Bigelow having easy works to read like any other writer has some works that take time to read and at first are not easy to understand. One of those not so easy works he has done is “Mynovel.org”. This one has a very different interface because at first you can only see three stories. But as you read one you will see that underneath them there are other stories for the reader to enjoy even more. And they all are mayor title books that are popular, but in his own way that is a four sentence story in each about what he understand when he reads and sees the images. But this one has one thing the other don’t have, and that is the option to create your own four sentence story. This is perfect for those who like to write and make their work be known and this way any writer can create it and thousands of people will read it.
This work in particular is not easy to understand at first hand, the reader has to go more in-depth in this work to be able to understand it. The interface itself is not difficult, understanding the text that is complicated. Because just being 4 sentences for each story and the only hint you have it the title of the story. In my case I had to read twice to be able to understand and analyze what it was about, and all he did was explain what he understood in just four sentences a thing that is not very easy to do. Because a whole book explained in a couple of sentences four to be exact is very difficult. Another is that in each one the sound it has and the video accompanies one another because you get the feeling that is exactly that sound that should be there and not another one.
In conclusion Alan Bigelow is one of those writers that are easy to read and understand. He is a great thinker because to come up with those kinds of stories the way he did them takes a brilliant mane. Yes there are others that are almost the same, but no of them have that sense of awesomeness that he has. For me he is one of the best, I wasn’t a fan before because I didn’t know about him, but after reading it I became one instantly. Because his works have something that get my attention and I want to keep reading more things he writes. And even though he has not done a lot of multimedia works he has already created his legacy and in the future Alan Bigelow will a legend like those that came before him, because he truly is an amazing writer.

Joe Jones
Well what can I say, I really liked it i had to read a couple of times because in some parts it goes really fast but that on the written part. And its about a con artist that is not original and takes works from other people and putting something minimal says that its his when it clearly isn't. And in the hearing part there is some sort of jazz and a voice like a news anchor. Saying the story of Joe Jones that he is a con-artist and something similar to that. Is not easy to hear the man speak because the music is to loud and its difficult to understand. I tried to look on google for a more clear understanding but nothing shows up.

Digital Language
Well what is digital language? At first when someone told me that, I thought it was when you write something in microsoft word or notepad on your computer or laptop. Well its similar to that because its written but its considered a type of poem also. Like The Struggle Continues its a digital poem with jazz music playing on the background, and one thing people might not know about jazz is that jazz is one of the most difficult and rapidly changing types of music. And its about equal rights for people no matter if your black, white, asian doesnt matter the poem is about how we as brothers and sister should be treated with the same respect any other person is treated.

Concrete Poetry Continues....
Well I can say now that I like concrete poetry, with the readings that are for today, that they are amazing and I think one of the best I have read. I personally liked " The Sweet Old Etcetera" that way it is structred I loved it very much. The way that the author E.E. Cummings poems to creat it, it is very interesting because the poem itself is about nature or thats what i think. Because each time you click a word to keep reading a E.E. Cummings poem and when you are done reading it the scenery of the poem changes. Hills, Clouds, ground, grass and the name "the sweet old etcetera" more like the sweet old country because that what forming in the poem a view of a place that seems peaceful. The other too where good too "Universo Molecula" is a good poem and the interface is amazing and interesting. "Family tree" I liked how it is structured and how the poem is written I got a headache because it kept spining and each time I moved the mouse it went down really fast.

Concrete Poetry #2
Well the three works we had to read for today, are very good. I like how the way "Ah" is done a like of words appearing as they move. Come get tangled with one another and form words that very intelligent to do. In "ii-in the white dark" I like the way that you have to click a circle and when you do that a imagine appers with somekind of description. But in some are just photos and yu dont know what they mean. In"thoughts go" althought is a short poem, I found it hard to understand, because presssing the yellow button the text scrolls and a voice narrating something appears. The three poems have different styles and structure yes, but to me in the white dark was better because its more entertaining to see due to the constant use of imagery. #intro2elit

Concrete Poetry
This type of poetry is awesome I like it very much. They way it is done is using words to create something, mane a figure with words. And that's outstanding but that's my personal opinion and I think some other people might think the same. Well anipoemas by Ana Maria Uribe is a great one, she uses short words and letters to create something amazing. This really captured my attetion and tried to do some of my own and I'm still working on it. But This type of poetry is amazingly entertaining to read, because you see the words moving doing something special like getting on top of one another or anything else the author can think of. But In my opinion those types of poems are for people who don't really enjoy reading to much. #intro2elit

Puddle!
I like this interactive reading, its very short but it fun. The words transform into stuff and that makes it funny. Starting with puddle thats the title but also as the words change you get the feeling you in a puddle of water. Then piddle thats like the path a river has constructed so it can go that specific water. Paddle like paddling a boat and the words transform to that. And peddle I dont what that is but it continues the rhyme, all four words rhyme and thats the point words that sound the same and have to do with the same thing. #intro2elit

Well one of the works didn't open for me so I only read two of them " A Fine View" and Walkdont. These two are very interesting in the way they are structured. A fine view its like walking down stairs and in the end like a door that you go in. And Walkdont are some words going in circles but like a tornado round and round. And if you go on top of a like point and some words stop and the others move in a different way. #intro2elit

"Trope"
Well first of all I have played second life before and I didn't like it, and I couldn't downloaded because I'm having some computer problems. But I saw the video from "machinima" about the tropes. And well tropes are types or literature made in second life for the players obviously to read. And they can be about anything and written any kind of way. Like the one I saw in the video written in some dominoes now that's interesting. And in some books that second life has in house or in some other place that is a reading environment.

Myst #2
Well what can I say about myst, well to start off its a really fun game to play and its cheap also. I didn't like the fact that to me it was to short, but what can we expect from a pc game of the 90's. But its a game where you have to be patient and look everywhere. Because it doesn't give you a back story, you don't know who you are and why you are there. And you don't know exactly what is happening unless you read and in this game you HAVE to read. If not you will never pass it, because you don't know what to do and where to go. It was hard play without a walk-through, I myself searched for some and I read to understand what was I doing. And I got the hang off it, its the only game that I have been so patient. And when you find out what you have to do it becomes less difficult. Some may have opinions and say the game is boring but hey every game is boring if you don't understand it. Well overall its a good game, its a game to pass the time and gain patience because that's what you have to have to play it. #intro2elit
