What have I learned from the meeting we held with the adventure leader who visited our class this week?
This week our college (Pilon School of Business) dean” Anne-Liisa Longmore” visited our class. She told us about the re-drafting of Academic Plan of Business School. It has a deadline of three months.
2. What is one thing that I learned about leadership this week and how might I use this as part of my personal leadership development?
The one thing I learnt was that to listen the views of everyone and do the way that u think is correct for the work. We should meet different people listen to their ideas and values.
3. After working with my team, what are three things that I have learned about becoming a high performing team?
The three things that helps to become our team a high-performance team are communication, listen to other opinion and helps each other in working. We communicate with each other very well, discuss all the ideas carefully and try to implement those ideas too. We listen carefully what others are saying. And at last we help each other in solving a specific problem.
4. The next time I am in a team what are the top three things that I would bring to the team to help make it a high performing team?
I would try to mange conflict that can occur in a team because everyone got their different views which sometimes don’t match with others. A proper project plan should be developed to get high end results. Leadership functions should be shared among other team members.

1. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of using a template to work through an operational or leadership issue?
The advantage of using operational or leadership issue as a template is that it will help to know the problems or leadership issue that need to be addressed. But there is always a negative side too and for this issue it is that if the problem gets unresolved then all will get to know that there is a problem that needs to be resolved.
2. When you applied the template on the cases what did you find challenging and what did you find beneficial?
When these templates were applied on the cases the challenges that we faced were to choose the best template that addresses the problem completely and it should also relate to the problem completely. It was very beneficial because using this we can easily get to know the issues and will be helpful in resolving these issues.
3. It is critical for leaders to be able to lead teams in clarifying core issues and identifying innovative ideas to resolve issues. In what ways do you think this template accomplishes this?
These templates help the leaders a lot to be able to lead teams as it tells in brief what the issues are that needs to be addressed. It also helps the leaders to get the knowledge of the situation that is going on, its operational or leadership issues and how these can be resolved.
4. When you review the 14 Leadership topics outlined in the Problem-Solving Template, which is the one that you think is a critical leadership requirement? Why?
From all the leadership issues, poor leadership communication is the one that I think is critical leadership requirement. No one can be a good leader if he/she can’t communicate well with the team members. Leader should communicate in the way that all the team members should listen and follow them carefully.

Which leadership area are you naturally drawn to? Why? How might you use one of your strengths to be a more effective leader in this area?
The Areas that relate mostly to me are leadership communication and global leadership. After getting what these areas actually are, I personally relate them more as first of all I listen to people’s opinion and then after that I inspire them to be a leader in their respective fields. The positivity and able to adapt to the different environment easily will help me to be a good leader.
2. Which leadership area do you not really understand. What is it that you don’t understand specifically? Do some online research and find an answer to what you don’t understand.
The area that I completely not understand is Followership. I did not get the idea behind it about build more followers so they can be the next new leaders or to lead them in such a way that you are able to extract most of the work from them. I found out that it relates to building relations in the work area to get the desired goals which further help to become good leaders.

1. What was happening that made it a high performing team?
For a team to be at a high performance, there should be a proper communication between the members of that group. The idea of the project should be clear to all the members of that group. All the members of the group should prepare by their own first and then put their ideas forward in the group. So, in our team, all the members were very hard working and able to put themselves with a lot of ideas. Also, we had some conflict issues, but all members resolve by consulting with higher management. So, I think this made our group a high performing team.
2. What was your contribution to the team development?
I contributed a lot while working in a team. I used to provide a lot of ideas for our work. I also used to help others to generate ideas and sometimes help in resolving issues.
3. As you look back on this team now, what might you change about the team and about your role in the team? Why?
As I look back now, I think the conflict management should be changed because we should resolve the conflict by ourselves only. I want to be the leader of the group as I really wanted to lead a group of people and see myself how I can handle different as well as difficult situations.
4. Think of how you currently respond to conflict in a team. In what ways does this help develop the team and develop yourself. If you feel another approach to handling conflict might be more effective what might that be?
For the conflict, firstly listen individually to the members about their problem and then try to talk them for negotiations. If any of them agree to negotiation, then conflict will be resolved otherwise order them to listen to yourself as you are a leader. This will help to run the team smoothly.
5. If you could do one thing differently when working in future teams what might that be? Why?
Firstly, I want to be leader while working as a project manager because all leaders can be a project manager, but all project managers cannot be leader. So, I want to see myself as a leader.

In terms of all the personal assessments completed in class this week, which insight most powerfully resonated for you? Why?
From all the personal assessments, RELATOR is the one that resonate me powerfully. “Relator is the one who has close relationships with the others. They find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal.” Personally, I enjoyed a lot in company of others. I feel more confident with others. Also, I can generate more ideas while working in a group.
2. In what way is this personal insight helpful for you in developing your leadership?
From the perspective view of project management, Relator will be quite helpful for me in developing leadership. As relator means working in a group to achieve a specific goal so I will build this assessment to be a leader in a group. This will be helpful when we work outside the world and I will then use my leadership skills to work within a company and grow myself.
3. What is one way you might apply this over the next week and what difference might it make for you?
As our groups are made by this week so, I will put all my efforts to be a leader in that group by giving my ideas and convincing other team members about my ideas. This will help a lot in present and in future to build my confidence and help me to be a good leader. In future, this will help me while doing my job of project manager because a good project manager should be a good leader too.
4.Review your leadership credo. Identify one action plan that you could do to live this belief in your life. Put it into action and see what happens!
I am a shiable person and lack confidence while speaking in front of the class. So, i want to build confidence so that I can work among huge mass. This will help me a lot in building self-esteem and to be a good leader because if we are a good leader then we are a good project manager.

1)Think of a time when you were in a leadership situation.
· What was the experience like for you?
· What did you learn from it?
There are a lot of situations in which one gets a chance to lead something in their life. I also got a chance to lead during my job. I teach school kids back in India. School organises various cultural events annually. On the Teachers day i.e. 5th September, a group of teachers decided to dance on some Indian song. They all decided that I should lead and teach them steps. So, I actively lead the situation and performed on teacher’s day. Everyone liked our performance a lot.
It was a great experience because usually in school we teach students but their I teach teachers of my same age.
I also got a chance to learn from my co-workers. They also suggested dance steps that we included in our performance. So, I learned that through leading we got a chance to learn new things that we are not known to it.
2)Describe your leadership strengths and skills as you currently know them. Where possible, align these with specific examples.
My leadership strengths and skills are that I am a good communicator. I can motivate others to do their task. I listen to everyone and help them to do their work. I also listen to other people views and use it in my work too. Like in our dance performance, when other teachers suggested me some dance steps which I used them in our performance.
3)What are the leadership strengths, skills or characteristics that you would like to develop? Why?
The leadership strengths that I would like to develop is my presentation skills. Because I think sometimes, I got nervous. Also, I am a shy person, so definitely I want to get rid of that.
