A summary of an unsuccesful hunt overseen by [Khinessi Handler] of a Master Rank "Granite" Gravios
Continuation of a hunt started in the Prehistoric Caverns - approaching Heavenly Path from North
Assigned hunters - [Red Haze Hunter] - [Armory Enthusiast]
Sandstorm in the Red Sand Sea - No Elder Dragon spotted
First sighting of Gravios at the Peak area
Toppled near cliff face after turf war with Rathalos - Scale retrieved from Rathalos after fight
Grazing on minerals in outcrop in the Desert Area afterwards - mineral outcrop Dragonite tier at minimum - Unusual amounts of Cephalos present in Sand Sea at time
Tail severed and Chest - Materials retrieved as follows: Carapace x1 - Pleura x1
Dug into the Sand heading east once it fled - Likely to emerge in the Red Sand Sea within the next couple of weeks

An excerpt of the notes in [Khinessi Handler]'s recordbook from [Head Geology Researcher]'s 23rd lecture "On The Forbidden Lands and Wylk"
"...while initial reports of the Dragontorch treated it as a physical Bioenergy collection mechanism similar to the Towers and Great Trees, further examination of both the Leylines and the resulting crystaline growths show a colonial species of Slime Mold heavily modified by the Ancient Civilization. The current understanding is that it is similar in function to Elder Dragon Blood, albeit drawing Bioenergy from a significantly larger area than any known Elder Dragon other than the Jiiva's..."
#monster hunter#geology#I could be wrong about all of the things I'm saying#but I think the parallels between Elder Dragon Blood and Wylk is just plausible enough to be something I could talk about

An excerpt of the notes in [Khinessi Handler]'s recordbook from [Head Geology Researcher]'s 3rd lecture "Basics of Bioenergy Mineralization"
"...mineralized Bioenergy provinces at the inner edges of a Gyre Arc are responsible for many of the sites civilizations have taken root, the continued mineralization of further Bioenergy results in surface condition almost entirely free of ambient Bioenergy. On occasion, a large digging monster may eat away at these Bioenergy provinces, resulting in earthquakes and incursions by Large Monsters into previously safe land as is known to have occurred with the East Kingdom's Citadel region..."

A small summary of the geology of the Volcanic Peninsula of the Old World as written in the recordbook of [Khinessi Handler]
"As the current site of maximum Bioenergy within the Old World, the Volcanic Peninsula is largely inhospitable due to sheer temperature. Huge amounts of Firestone within the bedrock beneath have resulted in magma chambers throughout the ground, eruptions by the same have resulted in an area dotted with Volcanos. Of these, three are regularly used as hunting grounds and are thus well studied by Guild Scientists. These are the Belt, the Volcano, and the Hollow."

A summary of a hunt overseen by [Khinessi Handler] of a High Rank Royal Ludroth
Begin 3 hrs sunup - departed from Base Camp in Floodplain
Assigned hunters - [Red Haze Hunter] - [Outgoing Hunter] - [Calm Hunter]
Royal Ludroth spotted with 6 Ludroth surrounding it - typical quantity for Floodplain
2 Ludroth were slain before the Royal Ludroth moved from the upper river - scales were recovered from each for analysis
Exceptional quantitys of Honey were noted - evidence for blooming in the Flower Field
Royal Ludroth slain after being toppled off of the coastal cliff - tide pools appear to have been effected only slightly
Materials retrieved from the Royal Ludroth as follows: Scale x3 - Claw x1 - Spongy Hide x4 - Tail x1 - Torrent Sac x1 - Dash Extract x2
Wyvern Gem retrieved negligible - potentially shattered in a conflict with other Large Monsters
[CH]'s report on [RHH] will be sent along with the next seasonal report

An excerpt of the notes in [Khinessi Handler]'s recordbook from [Head Geology Researcher]'s 8th lecture "Firestone/Icecrystal Deposits and Their Impact On Climatology"
"...Akra's temperature variability by location can primarily be attributed to the deposits of Icecrystal present within the hollow mountains in the eastern half of the islands. The low pressure airmass created by these mountains is believed to be a part of the relatively arid conditions of the northern Inland sections of the Old World's northwestern segments, most notably the erg extending westwards from the Wyveria Megastructure..."

An excerpt of the notes in [Khinessi Handler]'s recordbook from [Head Geology Researcher]'s 5th lecture "On Ocean Originating Minerals"
"...although Earth Crystals and other Abrasive Crystals have been mined for nearly all of recorded history, other useful Oceanic Minerals have been more recently discovered. Pelagicite from the Flooded Forest has been used for armor since the areas designation as a hunting area, with Bathycite from the Coral Highlands in the New World having similar properties..."
