Eddie thinks the worst, that Chris has a problem with them dating, and starts speed running crisis management in his head

Chris starts with “listen, dad. i like buck. a lot. he helps me with my school projects, and he knows a lot of facts, and he cooks”

Eddie is sweating bullets. Chris leans in, and points a finger right into Eddie’s face

Chris continues. “do. not. mess. this. up”

Cue Eddie going ???

Chris: “let’s be honest, dad, your dating record reads like a ‘how not to keep a partner’ handbook. we like buck, so try to be less of.. whatever happened with the others.”

Eddie: “are- are you giving me dating advice?”

Chris: “im just warning you that if something goes wrong with you two, i will assume it’s your fault and buck gets me in the divorce.”

Eddie: “you’re my son!”

Chris: “not for long if you don’t pull yourself together.”

The day buddie get married (and buck simultaneously adopts Chris) Chris gives his dad a hug and whispers “thanks for not messing it up”

The fact that Eddie and Maddie aren't best friends in the show is fucking criminal, because those two? Literal twins, their lives are so similar it's kinda sickening.

Eddie, oldest child, has two younger siblings. Maddie, oldest child, has two younger siblings.

Eddie, forced to step up and be "the man of the house" because his father is always working, and his mother is emotionally neglectful, typical "you had food, clothes, and roof over your head, so you should be thankful" parent type. Maddie, forced to step up and raise her own little brother because their parents were emotionally absent and only paid attention to Buck when he got hurt.

Okay, now it's getting creepy. Maddie was 19 when she married her abuser. Eddie was 19 when Shannon got pregnant and they had no choice but to get married.

Maddie became ER nurse. Eddie became army medic.

Maddie moved to LA because she was running from her husband. Eddie moved to LA because he was running from his parents.

Maddie was traumatised by abuse Doug put her through and had a hard time processing his death . Eddie spent years in toxic relationship with Shannon and had a hard time processing her death.

Both fucking adore Buck.

Eddie left for another tour because he was terrified of being a parent and when he was honourably discharged he spent every walking moment trying to be the best parent for Chris, but he was still haunted by doubts and afraid of failing. Maddie left after Jee got accidentally hurt on her watch and when she came back after getting the help she needed to fight her postpartum depression she spent every walking moment trying to be the best parent for Jee, but she was still haunted by doubts and afraid of failing.

The level of understanding and trauma bonding those two can reach is frankly ridiculous.

one of my firmly held beliefs is that while Eddie was in El Paso, he took Chris to the zoo because he wanted to bond again and Chris used to really like the zoo in LA!!!! But Chris meets up with friends the first chance he gets because he’s 14 and kind of bails on Eddie. Eddie is like “awww shucksing” Charlie Brown Style all over the zoo until he finds this enclosure and he’s enraptured and enthralled and taken aback and kind of heartsick???? he stays there for like…an egregiously long time, probably close to an hour. Eventually he texts Buck and is like “at the zoo. one of the animal exhibits reminds me of you :)” and Buck texts back immediately because he has zero chill and is like “they have a lion? OH! Is it a giraffe???” and Eddie just sends back a picture of the meerkat he’s accidentally grown emotionally attached to. Buck just responds with a “….?” and Eddie replies, “she has a name, but I’m calling her Muck. Short for Meerkat Buck :)”

crazy that eddie brought home chris and tía pepa to remind buck he has a family who loves him, and then pepa encouraged buck to embrace change so he tried to leave the 118. i need this to come up when buck is distancing himself next season like

buck: i’m just trying to embrace change! like pepa told me to!

eddie: so my aunt, who calls you evancito and treats you like my wife, told you to embrace change, and you interpreted that to mean you should move out of our house and into a separate apartment, which is the same way we were living for years?

buck: um. well it’s—it’s not—

eddie: there are SO many actual changes that you could embrace. like getting a new tattoo or getting rid of your awful couch or actually verbally responding when i say beautiful earnest things to you or kissing me on the mouth—i’m just spitballing here, feel free to interrupt me if—mmph

 “Bud, are you gonna go play?” TK asked.

Jonah looked at the playground uncertainly, and then back at them. “We’ll be right here, mijo,” Carlos told him. “I promise. Whenever you look back, we’ll be here.” Jonah nodded and started towards the big slide, looking over his shoulder every couple of seconds. Jonah had a lot of fun at the playground, or at preschool, or when TK took him to the Gymboree; eventually. But the first few minutes always consisted of Jonah walking towards the playing area like he was walking through hummus; very slow going. He needed that time to keep looking over his shoulder and see TK and Carlos sitting there; to have that reassurance that even if he went on the swings and didn’t see them for a minute, when he looked up, they’d be there waiting for him.

Paul raises an eyebrow and leans over to peek into her bag. “Is that a Zune charger?”

“Yeah, I think I have an iPod charger in here somewhere too, do you need it?”

“Why do you have all these?” Paul scoffs.

“In case someone needs one,” she answers with a shrug of one shoulder, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.

He reaches over and pulls a cord out of the bag. “In case someone needs to charge their Nintendo SD on the plane? Or, oh my god, or an ethernet-to-USB adapter?”
