Anyways Gillion never actually told anyone what he experienced when he was trapped inside the luxbris pearl. He made a passing comment about having to “face his worst memories” but nobody touched on it!

To Chip, Gillion getting upset about him not telling him about his sister speaking to a navy officer in the faewild was purely about the lying, but for Gillion he was finding out Chip was lying to him right after having to face what’s deemed the worst aspects of himself and then to have it literally be confirmed that the people you love the most think that too whilst chip’s actively denying thinking him a liability to his face - ultimately lying to him again. As an added bonus to literally see your sister beg your best friend not to tell you only for him to tell your other best friend who agrees in not telling you, essentially learning that in some form none of them trust you because of your impulsivity had to understandably hurt. Now I’m not saying chip was totally in the wrong because Gillion absolutely was not in the right state to hear that in the faewild and then he went M.I.A trapped in the Luxbris pearl, but Gillion’s hurt was totally understandable - it seems like he escalates the situation and jumps to conclusions quickly but he just had everything he faced in the luxbris pearl (which might I remind you he referred to as facing his “worst memories”) confirmed true!

I would just re quote the entirety of the last ten minutes since the actual prophecy drop if I could but god just. “what if it’s nothing?” “well, was it fun?” “yeah” “then that’s all that matters” and “even if it’s already written I’m glad to share a story with you” bro. “We all have burdens that we did not ask to bear” or something along those lines.

just. a chosen one who’s told to find who he is, not just what the world tells him to be. no longer comforted by the idea of destiny, because the burden is so much and he wants to be more than destiny. but he’s so worried he’s nothing without it. he never measured up, and now the destiny he’s learned his entire life is false, and he just wants to seize his own life and make his own choices and carve his own path, but who is he if he doesn’t serve this purpose? if his destiny has been proven to be based off false prophecies, if he isn’t his titles, if he isn’t predestined and already written, then who is he? what do they see?

and the fact that his friends and crew all reassure him with the little things. the blue of his eyes, his courage, his kindness. someone who smokes weed to disastrous results, who throws gold into the ocean even though they’re meant to be pirates. someone who faces danger at their side and doesn’t back down, but laughs. someone who tries to be good.

not a hero of prophecy. not the chosen one. but their captain. their friend. their family. and even if all of that was all predestined and written and free will is an illusion, then fuck it. they’re written chasing freedom and fun, they’re written doing some good in the world, and above all else they’re written together - and that means that it isn’t nothing.

This is something I wanted to talk about for a while, cause the part of ep.98 in which Gillion remembers about the thieves threatening arson while they do their best to carry him to the small boat that soon becomes his only chance for survival will always be so damn impactful to me.

Cause at this moment Chip and Jay are acting do damn human. They act the way the Elders told Gill humans would act. They sacrifice the safety of others for their personal gain, they leave people to die to achieve their own goal, to save only what is most precious and valuable to them instead of seeing each life as equal. And yet, when they make this pinky promise with Gill, when they are lying to him about ensuring these people's safety, even if they know they can't guarantee that, that some may die, Chip and Jay feel beautiful. There is something so divine about their sin. Cause even if the emotions of Chip and Jay, are raw, flawed, wild and panicked, selfish, they are also sincere and pure too, cause ever since the ice arena incident, they've only lied to Gillion FOR Gillion. They lied to protect him from the world, to preserve him, to keep him close, to not lose him, cause to them Gillion became their treasure. He became their reason to keep going, to keep growing, a reason to give back. He became someone who will be there for them when their world is falling apart, someone who when they doubt and hate themselves more than ever, will tell them 'I will fight for you'. He'll be the one to tell them, right when they are just at the brink of giving up, 'You're enough for me.'

And in that moment they look at him, body growing weaker, his strength fading, as he struggles to stay awake, they look at him and they don't care who has to die to save him. Because they care for him and love him so much, they do not care about lying to him. They do not care about what comes after as long as there is an after for Gillion. They don't care about anything because they are human and they are selfish, and they are selfish because they love. And they love so fully and unapologetically and they do it all for him, because he won't do it for himself. And maybe he can see that, at least a little bit, and he loves them just as much, and maybe he choses to believe in their lie and he lets them do that for him. Cause he doesn't wanna leave them either.

Thinking about how in like episode 11 Gillion mentions that if it reaches a certain temperature he goes into hibernation ⁉️

It was probably a throw-away comment at the start of the series but now I’m thinking of silly scenarios of chip & Jay not knowing why gillion’s not waking up and thinking he’s injured or something but drey knows bc of finn. I think he’d probably hibernate in his barrel but imagine this dude who gets up at like 4am to train just not leaving his barrel all day! I also read that when amphibians/fish go into hibernation their heart rate slows so like chip & Jay checking his pulse and his heart beating very faintly and they just think he’s like dying or something when he’s just a little sleepy

I was watching Peter rabbit and these two reminded me a little too much of a certain set of turtles ..
