I downloaded a program to play a game with some friends tonight, and microsoft does this new thing where if microsoft defender is on it will refuse to run the installer with a very vague message of "we detected this is dangerous" and one button that says "exit installation" (or smth) and you have to click a very non-obvious "read more" for the "run anyway" button to appear. this has me seeing red. this is hostile ui, meant to confuse the user on their PERSONAL Computer!!! so that computer illiterate users (of which the population is growing!!!) assume that they have to buy all """""apps""""" from the microsoft store, and discourage them from seeking free, open sourced software online. makes me see red makes me seeth especially as young people are increasingly computer illiterate. I paid hundreds of dollars to run whatever thefuck i want on this machine

I know google is shit now but it's nuts to respond to people without looking up and confirming what you're about to type out. I do it all the time. I do a quick ctrl+t www.wikipedia.com all the time just to make sure I'm about to say the thing I want to say and not make an ass of myself. like for even things I'm pretty positive on. when someone comes guns ablazing on your post about shit you can look up it's like wow if only I could be so brave to live so stupidly out loud. they're almost admirable. wish I could be that nuts.
