He wondered for a moment, enough to be distracted, and for her to climb onto his lap, dagger against his neck. He smirked, looking down at the blade and then into her eyes. "I don't know. The difference between a crook and a pirate is just that one works at sea, the other at land. Ye are somethin' for sure. And good with the daggers, too." He licked his lips, his hand slowly coming up to rest on her hip. "Danger arouses me." He said, a fire in his eyes that showed just how much that was true.
Tumblr media
"All pirates and crooks?" She looked at him and raised an eyebrown. "Which one am I?" Gwen asked with attitude but still being a bit sarcastic. She smirked with his words and quickly moved to his lap, sitting on top of him and letting him between her legs. Gwen grabbed her dagger back and before he could realize, she placed the dagger against the skin of his neck, without cutting him."Ya were right." She said with a smirk looking into his eyes without moving the dagger. "I didn’t forget."

Kieran tilted his head, smiling at her. "I do like takin' risks." He thought for a moment. If she did won, and prove herself to be a skillful captain, he wouldn't exactly be at a loss if he joined her crew, unless she won because of luck. "Alright. If you win, I will be your to command. But if I win, ye'll pay for my stay at the tavern." He said cockily, and extended his hand for her to shake. "Do we have a deal?"
Tumblr media
"Good." Frae chuckled as they finally stepped onto the sandy shore. She slowed her pace for a moment, walking in step with him. Hearing his remark, she looked over at him and raised a brow. "A reward?" She smirked and turned her gaze forward. "Ye like taking risks, eh? That’s understandable." She stopped in her tracks for a moment and turned to him. "Alright. Let’s put something on the line. If I win, ye’re joining my ship. No complaints. No questions," Frae said simply, crossing her arms over her chest.

He followed her, and chuckled. "All right, I won't tell about your spot" Kieran smirked devilishly and caught up with her, looking over at the captain. "So, what do I get as a reward if I win ye?" He shrugged easily. "A duel is always more fun when there's something to win or lose..."
Tumblr media
Frae raised her hands up in defense and shrugged. “Alright then.” She chuckled softly and headed towards the beach area. “The forest on the island is a good place. There’s a clearing there. It’s me spot so don’t go revealing it to just anyone,” she said as she continued to walk along, turning around to see if he was following.

Kieran smiled at the familiar voice and nodded. "Hopefully the Gods's anger has dimmed down by now." He stared at the ocean and then smiled. "I was never good at predicting the ocean. No one ever is, really." He was thoughtful for a moment, and then fidgeted. "But I miss being in a boat already." There was nostalgia in his voice as he said the words, as the memories he had made in the sea flooded his mind. Most of his life had been spent away from land, and he wouldn't have it any other way. "I need to get a crew, and fast."
Tumblr media
Although she knew that she should be more productive, after that conversation with Frae about joining her crew, Catalina found herself drawn to the sea more and more often now. It didn’t hurt looking at the place that she called home anymore, now that she knew that she would be back there soon. FInding her way down to the docks, she wondered if she could get a good look of Frae’s ship. Upon approaching the area, though, she realized that there was someone else who had found their way down here. It was a young man—someone that Catalina seemed to recognized. Kieran, she thought that was his name.
"Doesn’t seem like there’s any storm coming. But the sea is deceiving," the man mused, obviously talking to himself.
Tumblr media
Catalina snorted a little at that, making her presence known to him as she walked to stand near him. “I sure hope that no more storm would be comin’ soon. The huge one that just past is enough, don’t ye think?”

He nodded. "Everyone in this town needs to know how to fend for themselves. After all, we're all pirates and crooks." He said with an amused half smile. "Ye can never really forget how to use a blade." Kieran added with a nod. "I'm no good with daggers. I'm more of a cutlass kind of mate."
Tumblr media
She chuckled with him. “Is okay. between curiosity and safety, the safety always lose.” Gwen looked at him rolling the blade. “Very.” She said with proud. “An woman need to know how to defend herself.” She smiled. “I learned a long time ago… But I may be a bit out of practice.”

He sat down beside her, lifting a eyebrow at her story. "I think it's a bit of luck with a hint of stupidity." He then chucked "With all due respect of course." Kieran eyes the dagger, before taking it and rolling the blade against his finger. "Sharp. Do you know how to fight with it?"
Tumblr media
As he took his clothes off she did the same also keeping her pants, luckily she was with her pirates clothes and not with an dress that would take longer to dry. Gwen sat on the sand and pulled her boots, she removed an dagger that was hidden in her boots and tied around her thigh. “Maybe lucky or stupidity.” She laugh and waited for him to sit next to her. “The first time I fell in the hole, I also didn’t knew that would had water down there.”

HE laughed as he looked away to protect his eyes from the water, and easily followed her. When they reached the beach, Kieran started taking his wet clothes off, keeping only his pants, and hanging the rest of his clothes and his boots on the branches of some trees to dry off. "How did you even find this place?" He asked, curious.
Tumblr media
She looked at the beach, it was not even 10 meters away. “Why not.” She smiled and slapped the water making the splash hit Kieran’s face, Gwen gave a small chuckle and started to swim toward the beach first

He chuckled at her cheekiness. "Fair enough, fair enough. But the same goes for you." He said, winking. "Do you know any place better than here?"
Tumblr media
"Alright. I can’t refuse a challenge," Frae replied with a smile. "Though, I’d rather we didn’t do it here. I might knock ye down and have ye embarrassed in front of everyone."

He dragged in a big amount of air once he broke the surface. His eyes took a bit to get used to the sudden light, but when he saw the beach, he smiles softly. "I see what you meant... It's peaceful here." He commented. "Shall we head to land?"
Tumblr media
The path was long, but after a few more turns the kind of tunnel they where passing through had opened and they could see the sun light in the surface. They ended up in a small and desert beach, near the hill and the forest they had passed on the way to the cave.

Kieran was sitting on the docks, his eyes focused on the ocean, studying it closely, oblivious to his surroundings, to the point he wouldn't hear someone approaching until they were close.
Tumblr media
The waves hitting the docks lulled his mind, as he tried to read the Ocean. "Doesn't seem like there's any storm coming... But the sea is deceiving." He mumbled to himself.

He shrugged nonchalantly. "It would be a good way to show off yer skills, right?" His tone was underlined with challenge, albeit a friendly one.
Tumblr media
Frae chuckled softly, a genuine, warm one that usually didn’t come from her. It surprised even her. Hearing his question, she rolled her eyes. “The best,” she replied with a smirk. “It’s been awhile since I’ve done a good duel but… I think - no - I know I’m good.” Frae tilted her head. “Are ye suggestin’ a duel then?”

He sunk underwater after her, but not before taking a big gulp of air. After a while, part of him was starting to feel like they were lost, and that they should go back, but Gwen still had her hand locked with his, and so he let her guide him.
Tumblr media
She smiled and grabbed one of his hand, Gwen took a deep breath and waited for him do the same to show him the way underwater. The more deeper they went the darker it was, making impossible to see more than a meter away, luckly the way was large enough for three person and since he was holding her hand he wouldn’t get lost. Gwen looked at him making sure he was fine before pulling him toward the left.

Meet Kieran. He’s a thirty year old pirate who’s best at being first mate. For the past two weeks he’s been looking for a captain. In another universe he could be Richard Madden.
People congratulate him for being loyal, cunning and brave, though behind his back it’s often being said that he’s secretive and stern.
ONCE UPON A TIME
Kieran was born in Norway, into a poor family. His father was a fisherman, and ever since he was little, the sea has always been a big part of Kieran’s life. His mother’s family was from Scotland, however, and soon they would move there, to search for a better life. He was only five years old when they arrived to his mother’s home country. Kieran’s mother found a job as a maid at the manor of a rich man, by the sea. The boy’s father loved the sea too much to stay away, so he kept going out every day to fish. He would come back every night at time for dinner, until one day, when Kieran was eight. That was the last day he saw his father. A storm had swept the seas, and the small fishing boat was nowhere to be found. Now, without his father to take him on fishing trips, he had to spend his days with his mother. It was in the noble man’s house that Kieran would find yet another passion of his, besides the sea – the violin. The Lord’s daughter was an exquisite player, and she had befriended Kieran, eventually teaching him how to play. Despite his father’s disappearance, Kieran lived happily. That was until he turned sixteen, and his mother passed away after catching a bad cold. She couldn’t afford to pay for treatment, so she succumbed to the disease.
Now, with nothing holding him back to land, Kieran went away to the sea. In London, he embarked a ship that was supposed to set sail towards the New World. At first, in what Kieran thought was a strike of unfortunate luck, the ship he was in was attacked by pirates, as they approached the Americas. The pirates plunged and destroyed, taking no one captive. So, in his desperate attempt at surviving, Kieran snuck into the Pirate ship, and hid away. They only found him when they were docked. The Captain had been furious at first. But seeing that Kieran hadn’t even begged for his life, and had looked the man in the eyes, without fear, made the captain intrigued. As such, he decided to keep him on board, working for him. When Kieran was twenty, the old Captain died in a tavern fight, shortly after they had docked. The crew disbanded, and Kieran was left without knowing what to do. He found work at another Pirate ship, and soon he would prove his worth, climbing up the ranks and gaining the captain’s trust, eventually becoming the captain’s First Mate. He spent nine years full of adventures. However, bad luck would strike him again. Kieran’s ship was approaching a French vessel, but they were ambushed by two other. The pirate ship sank, and the pirates who had survived were made prisoners. Such was the case of Kieran, who was to be transported back to France. However, after a storm caught with them, two of the French ships collided, and sank. Kieran managed to save himself. Floating in the sea, he didn’t hope to make it, until a pirate ship sailed by and took him in.
His journey had finally gotten him to the pirate town of Roguefort. Kieran lost no time, and for the past two weeks, he has been searching for a ship willing to take in a man with his skills. Word was that the Persephone and the Aberrant are docked, and looking for new crew members. Reputation precedes both vessels, and Kieran is an ambitious man. He intends to prove his worth to either of the Captains, and will go to any lengths to be accepted into one of those famous pirate ships.
COMPANIONS AND RIVALS
Agnus: potential captain "They say Agnus is a good Captain, brave and determined. His crew is made up of good fighters. It’s closer to a war ship than an actual pirate vessel. I still haven’t had the chance to meet him in person, but from what I hear, he doesn’t trust easily."
Alistair: potential captain "He’s been around longer than I have. I’ve been hearing stories about him and his ship for as long as I have been living out in the sea. His ship is known as ‘The Hell-Bound’ among sailors. Personally? I’ve never been on board, so I can’t vouch for the accuracy of those rumors."
Eric: acquaintance "I met him briefly the first day I stayed at his Inn. That’s about it. He seemed like a kind man, something that is rare in a place filled with thieves and murderers. If whether that is a sign of weakness or strength, I have yet to find out. Not that I would say anything about the man who own the roof currently over my head. He probably doesn’t even know my name anyway."
Unfortunately for you, his role is unavailable.

"Well I've seen stranger things happening." He stated, with a nonchalant shrug. Kieran hesitated for a moment, and then tilted his head. "How good are ye with a sword?" He bit his lower lip, before releasing it and licking at the tender skin there. "I mean, since ye say ye're good, I guess the least ye could do was show me just how good."
Tumblr media
"Highly doubt that," she replied bluntly, looking away for a moment. Lady Captain Frae. It did have a nice ring to it, she had to admit. But there was no way she was going to grow to be fond of him. There was still that part of him doubting her. Men always gave her hell so it was only right for her to do the same. She turned back to him, his gentle smile taking her by surprise for a moment. It had been awhile since she had seen one of those kinds of smiles. She raised a brow at his comment then laughed half-heartedly. "Wow… never thought I’d hear a man say that."

He shrugged. "Well, ye'll learn to like it." Kieran smiled smugly, and then shook his head. His smile changed into something more kind, gentle. "I can assure ye I'm not mocking ye. I think it suits ye. It's out of the ordinary, as ye are. In a good way, of course."
Tumblr media
She snorted and shook her head. “Whatever. I don’t like it.” Though, there was a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. “Lady Captain. It sounds like yer mocking me.”

He smirked. "Well, ye're a Captain. And ye're a lady. So Lady Captain Frae is a suitable title, isn't it?" He said in a  goodhearted way.
Tumblr media
Frae crossed her arms over her chest, the smirk still on her face. Odd yet very interesting man. “Thanks,” she replied and nodded. He was smart to be on her good side. It was one less man to kill. “Kieran.” She rolled her eyes at his title for her. “Frae. Is the title necessary?” Frae raised a brow at him, a smug look on her face.

He smiled, once he realized she seemed to have become more friendly and less defensive. Kieran wasn't interested in making enemies before he found a crew, and he sure as hell could use falling in the good graces of a captain. "Ye sure are feisty and determined.... It's a good start." He said truthfully. "I do. It's Kieran. And yers, Lady Captain?"
Tumblr media
Frae chewed the inside of her lip and looked away from him for a moment. Here was a man who didn’t believe in her but didn’t doubt her either. It was odd coming from him. All she was ever used to was being put down. She sighed and turned back to him. She smirked slightly. “I’ll prove ye wrong. I’ll prove all of ‘em wrong.”
Tumblr media
"Ye got a name?"
