Albert Uderzo, co-creator of popular French comic Astérix, passed away today at age 92. One of the last comic art titans of Europe. Hergé, Morris, Franquin, Goscinny, Mœbius—strange to think they’re all gone now.
Here’s a selection of concept art by Daniel Cacouault (1-4), some animation art, and design sketches of Astérix and Obelix by Uderzo himself, dated 1959.
