I've had this little idea in my head for a while now, so I decided to sit down and plot it out.
Disclaimer: This isn't meant to be some sort of One-Worksheet-Fits-All situation. This is meant to be a visual representation of some type of story planning you could be doing in order to develop a plot!
Lay down groundwork! (Backstory integral to the beginning of your story.) Build hinges. (Events that hinge on other events and fall down like dominoes) Suspend structures. (Withhold just enough information to make the reader curious, and keep them guessing.)
And hey, is this helps... maybe sit down and write a story! :)

Concept: in a setting where vampires exist and can only be harmed by symbols of faith (crucifixes, etc.), a James Randi-style skeptic/supernatural debunker witnesses his family murdered by vampires, and dedicated his life to hunting down what he believes are a cabal of ordinary serial killers with a blood fetish and some cheap plastic fangs. They die when he shoots them with an ordinary gun, granted holy status by the sheer force of his belief that they are actually just ordinary humans who will die when shot.

imagine when the extrapolate gone wrong and made something AI-like. for example jesus statues that resembles dead fish and carbohydrate grains
instead of materialising human minds into reality can the opposite be true? as in using the mind space as a storage -- turning physical objects like tables into concepts for preservation and longevity sake at the cost of leaving a table-shaped hole in reality

I still think that my favorite urban legend/folklore fact is that there are certain areas in New Orleans where you cannot get a taxi late at night not because it isn’t safe, but because taxi companies have had recurring problems of picking up ghosts in those areas who are not aware that they are dead and disappearing from the cab before reaching the destination and therefore stiffing the driver on the fare causing a loss for the company.

what people who didn't grow up by the sea don't realise is that death at sea isn't a threat it's a part of life that you have to and will come to terms with. you can play it as safe as you like but at the end of the day if you choose to stay close to the coast you are entering a contract with the sea that she can demand you honour the terms of at any time. there's a reason so many old gods and eldritch horrors are ocean based. that's literally just what it's like. "i never thought the primordial forces of nature would eat MY face" skill issue.

in normal situations, a table occupies a space both physically and conceptually -- the former makes it "real" in baseline reality while the latter makes it "real" in our eyes. manifesting concepts in physical beings requires us being able to perceive and comprehend it which often based on their characteristics to "grow" them into reality. on an opposite yet similar note, this method detaches the two properties of the table and reduces its physical properties into mere concepts like "made out of wood" "have more than 2 legs and are situated under and at the corners of a plane" "weighs a certain kg" and even if we dont know what a table is, we can still extrapolate a table through these concepts; and to increase the accuracy and preserve its completeness ull have to translate more of the table's physical properties into concepts, like asking a carpenter to replicate a table without giving them a picture of the original.

Due to budgetary constraints we do not have the resources for any Ship of Theseus bullshit and we have chosen death over continuity.
