From what I can gather across the tapes, “TechMate” is the general term for Milrothian automatons: compact, often cassette-sized, companion-class electrons.
A TechMate is a modular automaton, each one designed for a specific interface style. Their numbering isn’t model-based, it’s form-based. Almost every TechMate model is basically a standard 4000 docked into something additional. So a TechMate-4000, like Zipp, resembles a shoebox cassette-shaped unit.
A 6000 might be a 4000 docked into a crawler so it can move around. An 8000 is custom-built, but those are a rare sight. A 2000 is a more simplified and compact version, resembling an old walkie talkie with an interface and 1 coupler on the base.
Most TechMates are docked into consoles, stations, or craft. Zipp, the 4000 linked to Novus, is a little different. Built with a projection bay, dual couplers, analysis rods, and a personality chip that wasn’t quite factory-standard. He talks, he gets snippy, and he’s more friend than function.
Every TechMate has a primary coupler array (usually located at the base) to dock into all compatible terminals, a clunk-button interface plate, and some kind of dual relay antenna on either side for long-range signal parsing. Their bodies are made to slot into docks with a firm cha-chunk.
Novus wears Zipp on the side of his waist like a sidearm, but I’ve heard a few tape logs where Zipp slots directly into the Lancer’s primary diagnostic terminal, but most of the time he’s on Novus’ side. Some other logs mention older TechMates being used in mining towers, broadcast beacons, or transportation docks.
That’s a bit more I can find for what Zipp is and a bit of context for what a TechMate is. I’ll post more if anything else comes up.

About 250 years before Novus was born, the technology of Milroth used to be smooth: every system had a hologram, artificial intelligence was in every device, the UI was seamless.
But a single worm signal turned entire hospital wards into locked tombs, agricultural systems froze, defence grids fired on their own towers. No one could pull a plug, because there was no plug left to pull.
So the smooth technology was ripped out, sometimes with hammers and they replaced it all with toggle switches, rotary dials, hand-inserted cartridges, plug cables and lever-fed spools.
Milroth’s people didn’t just prefer analog, they trusted it with their lives because you can’t hack a button. If something breaks, you can fix it with your own hands.

The system that Milroth and her sister planets revolve in is the Tacheros system, it’s star is named Tach. One prominent moon in the system is called Sallus, the largest moon of the planet Siscos. Sallus is used as the northward “star” used by the sky sailors of old.
Milroth has a moon named Varros, Tharon has Bilos and Bassos, Tharros has no moon, Tiros is a dwarf planet so it has no known moon, Kroth has moon Relon, Torren has Daross and Krill, Siscos has Sallus and Baros has no known moons.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, there are twin pyramids on both poles of Milroth under the icy surface of both poles.
According to one tape, there are 4 monoliths that were built in the 4 corners of Milroth centuries ago.

There are 3 Gods, or Aedren, who are said to be the originators of their worlds.
Titros, the First Pillar. He was the first into existence, who gave shape to the world of Milroth and her sister planets: Tharon, Tharros, Tiros, Kroth, Torren, Siscos and Baros. Their sun is named Solun, named after a myth about a man who brought fire to their world.
Titona, the Second Pillar. She was the second into existence, who gave shape to life on Milroth. She breathed the first breath on Milroth and it is believed she is buried under Occoth, the world below Milroth.
Titrak, the Third Pillar. He is the controller of time, he represents balance. He set the planets into motion, and is said to still be spinning the worlds around Solun.
That’s all I can find on the tapes for now, I’ll post anything else that is interesting or about Novus.

Along with Novus, a lot of the tapes mention a TechMate-4000, he’s named Zipp. From what I’ve gathered, it resembles a cassette player that talks.
It’s a very versatile electron, it can dock and interface with almost every terminal, craft, and station. A few tapes mention how Zipp is regularly docked on the side of Novus’ waist.
It has 2 couplers on the bottom for easy access and interface, it has a pair of extending antennae for long range communication.
A few other tapes mention an Acryss-class Lancer, it’s a one of a kind blue skycraft with modular engines, a custom built glider that Novus can ride that can dock onto the rear of the Lancer.
A couple tapes say that Novus had help modifying the skycraft from one of his brothers, Eryndor. Although Novus did mention that Eryndor has vanished, he’s been gone for 7 [years].
That’s all for now, I’ll update when other points of interest come up.

I found old tapes.
Various logs.
Almost all of them repeat the same name: Novus Sol.
I’m in the process of translating them now.
