"Ponies?" Jongin glared at the boy, crossing his arms over his chest, "I don't ride ponies. I ride horses." He snorted, rolling his eyes as he turned around to lean his back against the wall. But although he was tired, and there was a huge possibility that their guards were probably running around looking for them, and that his mother would probably give him a little call soon. He sighed, immediately reaching for his phone to check if there were any missed calls or angry texts. To his surprise, there were none. He clutched the slim phone in his hand, slightly hesitating before sliding the back off and removing the battery.
"This is so my mom won't call me," Jongin explained, pocketing the battery in his front pocket, "And I don't think we should stick to one place." He pursed his lips, leaning forward to scan the hallway which had appeared to be empty at the moment. But there was still the off chance chance that he could still be wrong in a couple seconds and he rather not take any risk. "Let's go somewhere else."
Castle Mayhem || JongIn and LuHan
“Yes, yes I am,” Jongin snorted, his fingers running through the dark tufts of hair, “I don’t know. It can’t hurt to try. Plus, it’d be funny to hit one of them.” He glanced at the guards, noticing that they were chatting amidst each other. He rolled his eyes, immediately shifting into a good starting position to run. His eyes followed the guards and back to Luhan momentarily and then he nodded at the older boy.
Once the book made contact with one of the guards, he mustered up all the energy and strength he could possibly have at that moment and raced through the doors of the library towards their rooms. His shoulders raised and shook as he panted, his breaths coming out shorter than he would have liked. Placing his hand on his hip and forehead against the wall, he heaved a sigh of relief and cleared his parched throat. He narrowed his eyes at Lu Han, “If that’s your definition of fun.”

Jongin quirked an eyebrow at the older boy, staring at him incredulously. But he just smirked instead, rather amused on how things were going. “You can call me Jongin if it bothers you that much,” he responded, pursing his lips, “And no, please don’t call me that. Or I’ll call you the hyung-who-is-incredibly-stupid.” He nodded at Lu Han, shrugging but the thoughts of someone actually dangerous in the castle interested him, “Or they could be out to get us and we just don’t know it.”
But Jongin shook the foolish thoughts out, he would think about this later when he was alone. “I remember,” he smiled at the old memory, and their innocence back then. But what really angered him was that nothing had changed since they were young. They were still being followed around, and still detained in the same place. Lack of freedom came with the lack of privacy, two things he really, really wanted around here.
“You know what?” He said, a mischievous glint apparent in his eyes, “You should hit the guard with the book. And then… we’ll run!” It sounded smarter in his head but he didn’t care anymore, he was quite desperate for any kind of freedom at this point.

Lu Han’s jaw went agape, his face flushed, embarrassed with the mistake he had just made, especially in front of JongIn. “Well, I… I heard that reading a book upside down makes you smarter.” he reasoned stupidly, knowing well that it was not true. “And why is it that you insist to be called Prince JongIn while I go by ‘just Lu Han’? If we’re on that type of basis, I have the right to call you JongIn.” he rolled his eyes. “Or maybe, I’ll call you ‘The Jong In that I am smarter than’” he said, laughing at his own stupid joke.
“The bodyguards never seem to leave us, do they? It feels more like a burden than a blessing… It’s stupid that they follow us like this, even in the castle. It’s not like our families are out to get us or something…” he grumbled in disdain, but his face suddenly lit up. “Hey, remember that time when we snuck out and got caught by the castle guards? They put bodyguards by our windows after that…” he chuckled at the faint memory. “And I know damn well how to read a book, thank you very much.” he huffed, his face flushing again. Oh God… why do I have to look so stupid? This isn’t even fair…

"Stop saying that you're my royal highness," Jongin snapped, "I've known you long enough for you to just be Lu Han." Rolling his eyes, he shifted his attention towards the book that Lu Han was currently holding. He squinted his eyes, trying to read what the title of book was before he immediately recognized the problem.
The book was backwards. For a moment, he was stunned by Lu Han's idiocy but a few chuckles erupted from the younger boy, suddenly being unable to contain his laughter. "Y-y-you... are so stupid," Jongin managed out with a wide grin plastered across his lips.
But the mention of his irritating bodyguards halted his suddenly cheerful mood and he frowned once again. "Yes, they're annoying as hell. And they won't seem to leave me alone," Jongin ranted, shaking his head, "I mean, I don't understand. I'm in the Kingdom, it's not like anything is going to happen to me."
He then tilted his head back to face Lu Han, shrugging, "And I'm here because I want to be. And you're obviously not any smarter if you're holding a book upside down."
The younger leaned forward, grabbing the book from the clutches of Lu Han and flipped it back to the correct state. "This is how most people read a book, hyung."

It probably wouldn’t look nice on his record if Jongin went and killed someone. Or five someones. But in all honesty, if someone told you to specifically, “go away and never come back,” you should probably try to follow it especially if it was the Prince commanding you. However, none of the idiots that were following him did so.
‘Assholes’, he thought to himself, a grunt emitting from Jongin while he clutched onto his water bottle tightly. He held in the temptation to whip around and chuck it at one of them and then making a run for it but they were bodyguards - as in, more physically skilled than Jongin could ever be.
He shoved his hands in his pockets, tilting his head just slightly to send a final glare at the bumbling idiots and maybe, they would get the idea and just walk off. It didn’t work. The guards stared back, pokerfaced, showing no reaction whatsoever to his supposed ‘death’ glare. His expression faltered into a more embarrassed one as he proceeded to stalk off into the library, his head hanging lowly.
Upon arriving, he noticed another boy with a book in his hands. He could hardly make out the figure from a distance but as he got up closer, he could easily recognize it was Lu Han. The other prince. Great.
“I didn’t know you could read.”
Well, he preferred Lu Han over any of those dumbasses anyday.

Lu Han wandered around the castle, feeling a bit lonely. Ten feet behind him, a group of bodygaurds trailed, frantically watching his every step. Geez, when can I ever get rid of them? He thought as he wandered into the castle’s library. He sat down on a sofa with no intention of actually reading, but he picked out a book anyways. Maybe in time, the bodygaurds will get bored and leave me alone… he thought, I can’t do anything with them following me around like this… If only I had someone to mope with me…

A glare streaked over Kai's face, and his brows furrowed as tilted his head to the other boy to meet his gaze. He only tightened his grip on the handle, showing no signs of backing down even if it was something as petty as street food, or 'peasant food' as his mother would say. The sudden thought of her interrupted the flow of his thoughts, ultimately halting them. Kai's features softened again, and his grip on the handle loosened.
What would his mother think if she saw him being selfish over things like these? What would she think if she knew he had snuck out to town? To the living size of town, with the bubbly crowds of people? He wondered what she would say if she knew he was mingling himself with those below him. But then again, Kai was 18. And a Prince, at that.
Kai tried to shrug off his worries, reminding himself that he shouldn't be so hesitant about doing what he wanted and that he should stop doing what his parents wanted. His mother probably would have acted uncivilized with this boy, and snatched whatever she could.
The elitism built in his mind needed to stop, no matter how hard it was. It fogged his ability to judge someone clearly, plagued his thoughts, and how could he interact among others if he lived, belittling people wherever he went?
His brown eyes drifted over to study the boy's physique. Noting that the boy seemed to be an unhealthy, and sickly thin, he finally let go out of the handle and nudged it towards the other boy.
A Prince should love and care for his citizens, not be petty and take their food. BUT, but, wait. They took HIS food. Kai shook his head warily, hoping the internal argument could stop clogging up his mind and could possibly fall out of his ears.
"It's not midnight," Kai responded to the other boy, blinking momentarily. It couldn't be. It's already been an hour since he left? The boy glanced down to look at his white, real leather watch that was adorned with tiny diamonds inside. "It's eleven," he started to correct the boy but his voice dropped, "fifty-nine." Kai cleared his throat awkwardly, shifting his glance to another food plate.
"I can wear whatever I want," he said, his tone quite childish but he folded his arms across his chest before rolling his eyes behind the black sunglasses he currently donned.
risky business. || kai & se hun.
“Oppa, I’m hungry…” was all he’d been hearing for the last three hours, ever since he’d gotten home from working an entire day shift. He stifled a yawn and poured his sister another glass of water and cut her another thin slice of bread, knowing that it wouldn’t get rid of the rumbling in her stomach for long, but it would have to do. He ignored her watery eyes and her slightly sunken face as he pushed the glass towards her, also trying to ignore his mother’s rasping cough in the background. Every moment he spent in this house made him feel like he was slowly suffocating. All he wanted was to go out, to be a normal teenager for once and not have to be a provider…and tonight had to be that night before he went literally insane.
These four, smoke-stained wallpapered walls were no longer a place he could call home, not with his mother’s wheezing and rasping from her bed in the far corner of the room, or his sister crying silently into the dirty, plush side of her stuffed bunny rabbit while he sat in the midst of the muted chaos, trying to figure out how to fix the world that his father had destroyed.
“I’ll be back, okay, you two?” he asked, not waiting for an answer as he quickly left the house and knocked lightly on his neighbor’s door, asking them to keep an eye on his mother and sister while he stepped out for a while. After the neighbor complied, Se Hun literally felt a weight lift from his shoulders, even if it was only for a little while. He sprinted off into a direction opposite the one he lived in, content with just feeling the cold wind whipping against his skin, through his hair, chilling him to the bone, but it didn’t matter.
An hour or two later, but what felt like minutes, Se Hun had made his way through the whole town, visiting with friends and generally having a good time for the first time in ages. It felt like a completely different animal from working and coming straight home to babysit like he was in his mid-forties, when in reality he was only seventeen. His stomach rumbled quietly as he began to walk home, sore and cold from running in the freezing weather, and he felt guilty as the smells of various street foods wafted towards his nose, tempting him with their promising aromas.
One stall in particular tempted him the most, the ddukbokki stand, and he couldn’t help but drift towards it, and before he could stop himself, he was sitting down on one of the stools, taking the meager change out of his pocket as the guilt corded around his heart and squeezed until he felt like he should just run out of the store and go home and apologize for even thinking about spending any money on himself.
However, he found himself handing over the change and enjoying the savory, bitter taste of the food in his mouth. It was actually rather bittersweet; while he was enjoying the taste of prepared food in a stand, his mother and sister were at home eating stale bread and filling themselves up on water because they could afford no more than the bare necessities in live.
The young male ended up buying one after another after another, and he was about to reach for the last one when he ended up grabbing someone else’s hand instead.
“Oh, I’m…I’m s—“ he paused in order to look over at the victim, and immediately quirked an eyebrow at the other teenager. “Excuse me…you are aware that it’s like, midnight, right? Why are you wearing sunglasses?”

risky business. || kai & se hun.
Much to Kim Jongin's disappointment, they hardly ever made ddukboki in the palace. He remembered requesting it once to one of the older chefs, and his mother had made a tiny gasp as if he had committed a crime.
"Kim Jongin! Do you know who you are?" He remembered the tone of his mother's voice, immaturely chiding him as if she had taken personal offense to such a simple request.
"We do not eat street food," she said, her tone clear and sharp before reiterating, "We do not eat peasant food." But how a mother could reject such a tiny wish from her young son at that time was still beyond him.
It was such a simple, trivial request that had garnered such an undeserving dramatic reaction. The memory ignited old feelings of anger and his fists naturally curled up by his sides, his tanned skin fading into a chalky white. A sigh emitted from his rosy lips as he uncurled them as an attempt to calm himself down. Well, there was no point in getting angry because he had been eating ddukboki anyway. It wasn't the greatest food he had tried but the taste lingered for hours, leaving him craving for more. But it wasn't just the spicy taste but the taste of defiance against his parents that enticed him. Each and everytime he ate the food, the feeling of rebellion filled him to the point he felt kind of embarassed. Feeling rebellious because he ate a little rice cake? He needed to get himself together. But it wasn't just limited to that, it was the fact that he was able to escape the kingdom successfully enough several times to wander around aimlessly through the town.
A small grin was plastered on his lips as he took in the sight in front of him, the sparkly decorations and lights illuminating the street while peasants citizens (he corrected himself) drifted amongst each other. Some clinging to others in such an affectionate way that he had to look away before a full-blown blush was apparant in his cheeks. Jongin shook his head, snapping back to his original goal. Today, his mission was to eat lots of ddukboki, bring some back to the palace and maybe, he would wander a bit longer than he usually did if he was feeling brave enough to venture longer than he usually did.
Tilting his head to glance around his surroundings, he avoided bumping shoulders with people and looking at directly anyone in the eye. He soon found one of the most popular street vendors that he usually frequented; a short and elderly woman whose sweet manners were almost contagious. Almost. Instead, he would just return her greetings with bows, althought it felt rather odd bowing to a peasant but he didn't dwell on it. He would give her short, curt answers in case he let crucial information slip off his tongue.
"Oh! Kai-ah!" She greeted, chuckling as her light brown eyes disappeared into a half crescent moon. He nodded but he could not help but smile back, the woman's cheeriness radiated through everyone. "Have something to eat!" The ahjumma ordered, before whirling around to face another customer. Jongin glanced down at the selection of foods, and his stomach seemed to grumble in response to his slow picking. He decided on just eating ddukboki again, there was only one left until she made more but on a Friday night like this, she probably must have been jampacked with other requests.
His hand pushed towards the metallic handle to grab the last one but another hand landed on top of his and Jongin immediately shot his head up to face the other person.

relationships.
curiosity killed the cat. | Closed.
Youngjae.
When his interest is piqued, Jongin tends to follow it out like a little kitten. This person has done exactly that. They have ruined the stereotype and definition Jongin has already set in his mind for them and he is curious to see who they really are and if he can trust them. Slowly becoming friends.
can't think of a time where you weren't here. | Chef, Servant, Bodyguard and Royal only.
Yoona.
available
Although he had grown up in the tightly knit kingdom, he had made at least one or two true friends. This person has been with him ever since he was young, and he is one of the few people he will ever trust with the knowledge of his secret identity (but he hasn't told them... yet.) He may act indifferent towards this person at times but when he comes to it, he is quite dependent and loyal. Close, childhood friends.
it's a risky business | Closed. ** We MUST do the plot: It's one of those nights where Jongin feels confident to go out and be 'Kai', and your character shows up, walking around aimlessly through the towns when his interest is piqued by some odd-looking stranger. After all, who wears sunglasses and hats at night?
Se Hun
The one person that seems to be interested by Kai (not Jongin.) Kai is first noticed outside the palace walls, frequenting local food stands and curiously wandering around the town. Kai soon befriends the person (even though Kai might recognize him at the palace? We can tweak this! 8D) Acquainted. Somewhat friends.
all on the surface | Closed.
Lu Han
You don't know tension until you've met these two. The two hail from royalty and from sharing the same title, they are extremely competitive. The need to outshine the other is always evident but don't let the act fool you! Beneath the surface, they are somewhat, good friends. They don't harbor hate, but at the same time, they don't harbor love. It's all respect, but of course, that can change.
[ MORE TO ADDDDDDDDD! Love interest can come from any of the relationships. Message me if you wanna be something because we can think up a relationship together that would fit both of our characters~ ]
