Someone more eloquent then me verbalize the hypocrisy of Jimmy in past life being so furious with Scott for killing him when he's constantly attempted to kill scott in previous series. how Scott has given Jimmy everything over and over and spares him and offers life and alliance and laughs off the attacks against him but Jimmy fails over and over and yet Scott is the one who did wrong because he did once and succeeded. I can’t believe I need to say this, but “I can reclaim x slur” does not mean “I can use that slur against others as a slur, specifically in order to denigrate them due to their marginalized identity.”

You can reclaim fag, sure. You can’t go around calling gay people you hate “degenerate fags,” and then hide behind “but I can reclaim it!” when people rightly call you out. You can reclaim retard, or cripple. But you can’t expect people to nod and agree and coddle you when you call people with developmental disabilities “fucking retards” and make fun of all the “whiny cripples” who need mobility aids, or braille, or closed captioning, or other accessibility accommodations.

You fundamentally can’t reclaim a slur in order to harm others – that’s not reclaiming the slur, that’s just using it.

Slur reclamation is not and was never a super special license to use slurs against others (provided that you yourself are sufficiently oppressed). It was never about that.

Some of y’all just want permission to be the bullies, and it shows.

Grew up in a village, can confirm

every time i read some ethnography stuff about villagers (h-g's, agriculturalists, it doesnt matter) i am reminded of how bad it is to live in a village. your PARENTS or your INLAWS get to TELL YOU WHAT TO DO (who to marry!!!). everyone is in your BUSINESS. if you try to just leave you will probably DIE. it sucks!!!!! i am so glad we don't live in villages!!! rootlessness SWEEP

A lot of pop psychology gets thrown around and since I already have a headache, here's preventing you lot from making it worse.

Love-bombing: A manipulation tactic of increasing affection and grand gestures before or after doing something abusive, specifically to weasel one's way out of consequences.

What it is not: A streak of affection and generosity towards friends/loved ones.

Trauma-bonding: Knowingly traumatizing someone to take advantage of their vulnerable state, to then act like the "hero" or the one who cheers them up.

What it is not: Bonding over similar traumas.

Gaslighting: *Knowingly* convincing someone they cannot trust their own perception of a situation in pursuit of one's own narrative.

What it is not: Misaligned perception of events.

Narcissist: Someone afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a traumagenic cluster B disorder, that struggles with self-obsession, paranoia, craving validity from the public, delusions of grandeur, and social disconnection.

It is not: Your rubbish ex that cheated on you.

Heads up, UK friends.

Discord has implemented the age verification requirement system per the upcoming law going into affect later this week early, so prepare yourself for other sites, which may include Tumblr given the intent is to target adult content which may affect here because of how it still does get posted here, even if the intended targets are the actual site for it.

As of writing, the official petition to have the Online Safety Act repealed is close to 30,000 signatures, but it's barely enough to garner much attention to where it may be dismissed by Parliament, or may get discussed but not getting to where it'll be repealed to actually figure a system that doesn't carry the risk of private information getting leaked.

So again, please help spread and sign the official petition here.
