☕ + aliens lol
"There is nothing more tedious than facing an alien with a redundant physiology. No amount of ammunition can ever exhaust the chances of it getting up again."
"I have lost many men to such entities. But I will admit, discovering how their bodies make up for the lack of clearly defined systems is quite entertaining. It's almost like a puzzle, you know?"

Fun Fact!
Bishop grumbles quietly. He's a busy man, he has no time to waste on pointless trivia.
"The quickest way to a woman's heart is a median sternotomy."
Of course he isn't simply going to be mature about it.

"That's still no excuse to start emulating their behavior."
Granted, there were times he would have liked bashing Markus' head in with his own hands, but Nines' attitude didn't help making him like the plan any more than that.
Bishop watched as his mechanical double stood his ground on the matter. If only he still had the empathy to side with him.
"You shouldn't have developed a conscience. It will only get in your way."
The hostile glare he got was worth the risk of getting his own head bashed in. As for the androids who wished to going back to being mindless machines, he had no sympathy to spare for those hindered by their own emotions.
Rook was far more humane.
"Serves him right! And no amount of yelling could make him look less of an idiot after getting a tire to the face. Should have respected the king of tires."
It didn't change the negative effects that incident might have had, but it was still good to dunk on that man and joke about it now. Ellis seemed to prefer it that way anyway.
"I'll come back to hang out some other time." she promised.
They were getting along so well, it'd be a waste not to. Willow was of similar intentions, though it wasn't surprising after she received a sweet snack for the trip back. It was nice but not unexpected after promising Dan to respect his preferences in communication. Making things convenient really costed her nothing, especially after all the work they had done to help them in their quest.
"My original duties weren’t that different from yours. Adjusting the way I'm to hold a conversation is really no trouble at all." Willow reassured, "I appreciate you telling me, as I do everything else you have done so far. Now, I shall collect those stuffed toys while the others handle the rest."
Although there was another matter she had to tend to before doing that. Willow decided to go up to Nines then, staring him up and down while Bishop wrestled with his copycat as he attempted to throw him out like a trash bag.
"It would be best if you were to ignore the exchange you just witnessed." the cyborg said calmly, "Such matters would only get in the way of your current investigation."
She wished to remain on good terms with the android population. Having to discourage the one of a kind detective the way Carthage usually did would have needlessly complicated things.
Rook shrugged, being well used to Willow's way of asking things to people. "Whatever. Let's go help Strasky's friends."
A portal was opened and duly positioned so they could leave that place behind to go back to sorting out the pocket dimension.
Bishop didn't acknowledge the smile, seeing no reason to waste his energies on appearances. His counterpart was doing enough of it with the way he was glaring at both.
"You aren't any better than those humans who brutalize androids."
Of course, that didn't mean he had anything resembling empathy. But it was a sign that perhaps the matter hit close to home for his copycat.
The agent didn't appreciate the irony of it.
"It wasn't right." Rook repeated, "I'm glad he couldn’t bend you in the end. You're a fighter and a survivor, but I guess we already knew that. I bet you have some stories to tell."
They weren't the happiest stories, she was sure, but she knew what it felt like to deal with a person bent on tearing her apart without any chance to get away. Rook definitely saw a bit of herself in Ellis, much like the reason why Willow likely felt so inclined to help Kelvin out.
The same sentiment didn't fully extend to Dan for the cyborg, however, though it was nothing personal.
"I see." Willow tucked her hand behind her back. "While I don't mind chatting as my current form allows, I don't think I could ever accept fully giving up this form of communication. It comes natural to me, even more if multiple subjects are involved."
Either way, she was happy to take the brownies with her. Willow carefully collected as many as she could fit in the container. They would last her for a good while.
"I will however stick to verbal communication in the future, if that's what you're comfortable with."
"Sure, we can help out with that." Rook replied, "But first, let me get one annoying twat out of your hair."
Bishop looked over as Rook marched over from the kitchen.
"Come on, Bishop, say goodbye to your new weird friend so we can go home." Rook briefly looked at the copycat. "You know, we killed the guy who made you."
Bishop almost looked happy to hear that, the android not as much.
"That isn't going to last."
"I know, but it felt nice." She gave a shrug, "Hurry up, bitch."
"How frightful. You're letting a little girl boss you around?"
"Don't think I can't twist your bolts too, tin can!"
Bishop smirked as he stood up. "Well, I better be on my way now. This was an interesting experiment for certain."

Ah.
Bishop grew awfully quiet as he stared. There was no gloating, no pointed remarks. Just a distant stare and the faintest grin after a sufficiently long dramatic pause.
He was still ready to beat it the second an opening presented itself, but he was quite intrigued by the reaction to his threat. He loved getting a good read of whoever he was pestering.
"Believe me, I've endured worse." Luckily, he wasn't allowed to further twist the knife that he was suddenly airborne. But that was a positive development, as his arms were free at last.
Bishop resisted the urge to toss the grenade anyway and reached into the opposite pocket of his coat to retrieve a chain hook he proceeded to toss right away to grab on the nearest surface and slow his fall. The hook was then retrieved and stuffed away again.
Landing almost flawlessly, Bishop looked back at Shade, before disappearing behind a corner while trying to hide the slightest limp.
That sure was a close one.
That about answered the question of what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. The struggling was pointless, but it would take more than that to bend Bishop's spirit.
He was going to pop a vessel before he'd do something as ridiculous as saying 'please'. In fact, he'd rather bang his head against a wall for a while before uttering that word, or admit this whole situation was his fault.
It still didn't stop him from trying, as it was better than doing nothing at all. He would have looked very threatening, if not for the sheer size difference. Good thing he was never short on nasty glares and threats.
"If you don't release me, I'm going to detonate the device in my pocket. I can take the hit but can you afford to have your precious body scarred?"
All things considered, it wasn't that surprising that Bishop was carrying a grenade around like one would with their wallet.
"Let me go."

"Let me go."
The grip tightened and the squirming intensified in turn. There was some degree of control he was willing to forfait if there was a chance it'd advance the mission. But there were some things his pride simply wouldn't allow.
"I'll say it one last time. Release me!"
It was no time to make demands, but Bishop's stubbornness was about to be put to the test. The agent let out a growl as he started pushing with all his might.

Well, there it was. Look where having some manners brought him. He was supposed to humiliate himself now.
Needless to say, Bishop did not agree with this plan. Neither of them wanted to spend more time with the other. This was unnecessary and he wasn't going to humor it.
There was some slight movement, a sign of the agent's indignation at the very concept, as well as an attempt at evaluating his chances of escape with the help of old fashioned brute force. He concluded they were low, but it hardly mattered to him.
He simply stared up at Shade with all of his disdain. "I won't."

He simply stared up at Shade with all of his disdain. "I won't."
That had been meant as a provocation (like half of the things Bishop said), but it was good to hear further reassurance that Shade was unlikely to appear at one of their compounds to bother him unprompted.
The agent, for one, welcomed being considered undesirable to be around. So he had to make it clear he wasn't actually working on his manners for the sake of a mission.
"A good cover can be quite effective as well." Or at least what he thought was a good cover. His little appearance at the club had only worked out because he knew when to take his leave.
But there was a pause as Bishop considered his options. While he could think of a few more insults, he wanted his personal space restored.
"It's about time I get back to work." he answered, "I want to study those grey entities who too enjoy irritating you."
With that kind of power at his disposal, he would be able to cause so much more trouble.

"Why, I thought you enjoyed getting attention! You wound me, Shade. I was genuinely interested for once."
Obviously, the quality of the banter played an important role. But there was definitely more to it to prompt Bishop to be obnoxious around the one in the position to squeeze him dry like a bloody lemon.
Then again, he had been deprived of his ability to bounce off the walls. Antagonizing Shade pretending to still be in control of the situation was the only small victory he could strive for.
"I've been experimenting with a more hands-on approach lately with rather encouraging results. We were able to confirm our intel on the current events with the help of the people directly involved, saving time and resources."
It was truly amazing where politely asking questions could take you.
"But seeing as you aren't interested in a bit of introspection at the moment, why don't you put me down?"
That was far too much prolonged physical contact for his taste.

That was far too much prolonged physical contact for his taste.
There was only a silent nod of acknowledgment from Bishop. He normally wouldn't take this at face value, but he couldn't find a reason for Shade to lie to him about that.
Still, there was something fascinating about the concept. A handful of misfit children had somehow managed to get through to one of the most self absorbed individuals he knew of (with Stockman being on that same list).
Whatever it took for that to happen, though, Bishop was still only interested in leaving an impression by being extremely petty and obnoxious.
"I'm actually looking for something that will hold my interest at least until the end of the decade." Which was starting to not feel like a long span of time to him. That was less flattering than it might have sounded.
"Indeed. But I suppose that's to be expected with several healers involved."
That was his best assumption anyway. The problem with observing from afar is that you ended up working with fragmented information. The Force luckily didn't know about Russell and hopefully never will, but they understood Rook and the entity that followed her around were both relatively infinite sources of healing magic. Such gift had seemingly not been extended to Five, but it wasn't exactly surprising he'd be left out.
But then Bishop once again looked up, the light reflecting off the lenses of his shades as he once again examined Shade.
"I've been accused of being insensitive, but even I can't help noticing your rather odd choice of words. You seem to be claiming some form of ownership over your supposed friends. Almost as if they're nothing but collectibles, or pets." He raised an eyebrow, "Are they aware you see them as such?"

"We didn't want to make hasty assumptions. After all, what do puny little humans have to offer to you?"
Other than creating a weakness that could potentially be exploited at some point. Friendship was a foreign concept to Bishop, even more than usual these days. He couldn't possibly entertain the thought that maybe Shade might have simply enjoyed the company or something.
He had yet to accept why he kept coming back to bother Shade, for that matter. Bishop put on his smuggest grin as he replied, "Well, people my age need some kind of hobby."
He'll figure it out eventually.
"It was inevitable, that much is true. However, there was a real possibility of a high number of casualties. So, I can certainly appreciate the results of that confrontation and you may as well despite having been kept out of it so far. It saved you from getting your shoes dirty at the very least."

There was no other reason to bring Five up now other than to annoy Shade further. Nevertheless, Bishop hoped with that move to divert at least some of the giant's anger before he decided to leave him with a broken spine or worse.
"I know enough to make an educated guess. The man came and harassed all your acquaintances and I've come to understand you despise that notion."
Meanwhile, he simply enjoyed showing just how much information he had been able to scrap together without getting directly involved. In fact, Five had been so he disruptive he had been able to go out and ask a few questions himself without raising too much suspicion.
Bishop obviously had to smirk at the question. He had indeed found the whole feud to be very entertaining to watch. The difference between them was that he was perfectly content with things being that way.
"It was in our interest to keep up with the unfolding events, but nothing more than that."
They had no reason to interfere. Five was a potential interesting specimen of his own. Had the worst happened, they would have simply shifted the attention to him.
"Although, between you and me, I'm quite satisfied with the outcome."
Bothering Rook was a more efficient use of their assets apparently.

Well, there goes his escape plan. Bishop started regretting this particular course of action as he found himself partially tangled into his coat and angrily squished. His strength matched his speed, but he couldn't do more than squirm a little and growl softly when it got him nowhere.
"No, that wouldn’t particularly affect my ability to do my job."
He had a contingency plan for that, of course. Bishop met Shade's gaze with a defiant look.
"This doesn’t really produce any results as far as our operations are concerned, but it was inevitable. Things got far less entertaining ever since that toxic nuisance disappeared. You were the next best thing. So, here I am."
He couldn't allow himself to not look like he had some control on the situation for too long. Bishop paused for dramatic effect, then showed off his best smirk.
"Surely, you have heard about him."

"Ironic, isn't it? Even if those entities were to give you a full coat of fur, it'd still be too easy to get under your skin."
While the anons had failed to deal lasting damage (as he would have very much preferred), Bishop had managed to piss Shade off and he was about to regret it.
Although it was a well known fact that the agent was very quick on his feet (and was possibly even faster at running his mouth at times), there was only so much he could do against a teleporting giant.
Bishop managed to escape but his coat didn’t, the tail ending up pinned down. Already cursing himself for not having donned his suit for the occasion, he at least tried to save face by landing in a crouch in a rather cat-like feat of his own instead of his butt.
All of a sudden, this wasn't so funny anymore.

All of a sudden, this wasn't so funny anymore.
Popularity wasn't a major concern of Bishop, even less when he was specifically out there to be a nuisance.
In absence of a comedically large feather on a stick, he had to taunt Shade personally, but that didn't mean he was willing to stand around waiting to get flattened.
So it was time for a tactical retreat. Bishop's fading cackle summed up his thoughts on the insult.
"Come on, Shade, be a good sport. You got off fairly easy, if you ask me. Those grey entities could have bestowed on you far worse fates."
Shade wasn’t the only one wishing to acquire exceptional powers. Bishop could think of many ways to knock the giant's ego down a notch.
"Besides, we'll be running out of storage space for all the videos you're prompting by simply standing there, being all fluffy. Try to contain yourself for the sake of our budget."
