He thought humans had moved past that line of thinking, that pain was what made you a better person. He let out a disbelieving laugh, his grin matching as he looked at her.

"Cami we both know that everything that happened to me, none of it made me a better person. Quite the opposite really. No, it made me angry, bitter. Tristan tortured me for the crime of existing, and I forgot who I was for a century. I would love to hear how you expect that would have made me a 'better' person, go on." He motioned for her to continue, intrigued.

Lucien linked his fingers with her, taking her hand to his lips and kissing it, letting himself listen to her. "We have truly lived long, extraordinary lives haven't we?" He allowed himself, for a rare and brief moment, to think about his human life, and how the idea he would be wealthy beyond comprehension, much less live over a thousand years, would never have occurred to him. He expected to die young, collapsing of exhaustion, or illness.

"And none could ever match your beauty or intelligence." He couldn't help but give a tiny smirk at his own playful banter before allowing himself to get back to the topic at hand, nodding. "Absolutely not. I don't particularly relish the idea of your family's wrath, at least not until all is said and done, once they can't stop us."

────── "if I hadn't live half the life I had, I don't think I'd ever consider it", if she had more moments for herself, more time over her years to have been allowed to make her own decisions maybe the witch would have ever contemplated leaving that all behind. This - whatever she and Lucien had was still so new , and even that future was well thought out yet but Freya knew her feelings were more than any kind of infatuation , she loved him and wanted to start a new life.

"I know it's a lot to lose, there aren't too many witches of my age and power wandering around" Freya gave him a playful smirk, admiring his real dedication to being honest and that was something she hadn't even had to ask for. "if I do - decide that's what I want, we won't tell anybody until the transition is complete?" Freya didn't want anybody else to know. The witch would deal with her family after the matter was dealt with.
