WIP: Grim Grinning Girlies
Testing out posting WIP Snippets, my first subject is the first meeting of Lottie, Silver and Sebek in a Childhood Friends AU. All of this was written in one day with no extra oversight, so it's worse than usual. Silver is nine, Lottie and Sebek are eight

"Watcha doing?"
Silver wasn't proud of the scream that he made, and Sebek probably wasn't proud of his scream either. Silver instinctively pulled out his wooden training sword and pointed it at the offending voice, which revealed to be a girl their age standing behind them. The spectral blue shade of her wide and doe-like eyes matched perfectly with her girlish set of high pigtails, held up with black ribbons. She wore a white button up blouse with a ruffled collar and poet sleeves, and a high waisted powder blue skirt that stopped at the knees. A pair of stockings and black Mary Jane's helped protect her legs and feet from the broken boards and rusty nails found all over the mansion. Silver could imagine his father calling her loved and spoiled.
"W-w-what are you doing here? This place is haunted!" Sebek asked, still cowering behind Silver.
"I live here." The girl replied with crossed arms and a frown "What are YOU doing here?"
"W-we're doing a t-test of courage." Silver answered, still not lowering his shaking sword. The girl's face lit up, her eyes sparkling like sapphires. She stepped closer, pushing aside Silver's sword and beamed at him like the sun.
"Is that a game? Can I play too!?"
"It's not a game!" Sebek retorted, finding enough courage to defy the girl, but not enough to come out of his hiding spot "We're training! This is a training exercise!"
The girl blew a raspberry at Sebek, which led the boy to recoil. He scowled at her and stuck his tongue out, which was met equally in kind. Silver shook his head, and Sebek claimed to be the more mature one of the two.
"What's your name?" Silver asked. The girl turned away from Sebek and looked at Silver.
"My name's Charlotte, but you can call me Lottie!" Charlotte beamed. "What are your names?"
"Silver."
"Sebek Zigvolt, grandson of General Baul Zigvolt and pupil of General Lilia Vanrouge!" The pride that waved off Sebek was reminiscent of the warmth of the summer sun.
"It's nice to meet you."

Thorns and Roses

Tags: One-Sided Attraction, Sebek's being haunted by His Demons, (a girl he kinda likes), Not Beta Read
A/N: I honestly should have had someone beta read this for me
Something I wrote back in October of last year. I originally wasn't going to post it because by the time I'd finished it I had decided that Sebek wasn't a one-sided love interest but a member of a four person polycule with Lottie, Silver and Skully. The lore I've made for that polycule to work is nothing short of "Random Bullshit GO!" and I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.
This piece as a whole is inspired by the TRIGGER song Baratsuyu and Suffering from EPIC
That strange creature is in his dreams again. The strange silhouetted figure that haunts him every night. How painful it was to see, as if he wasn't awaiting its presence like a dog at the front door.
"Hello Sebek." Its light voice echoes through the dark, empty space they occupy. It spoke as if it were harmonizing with itself and echoed across nothing.
"Hello, Charlotte."
Truly, Sebek doesn't know what else to call it. Despite the creature having a silhouetted appearance, it was easy to identity who it was mimicking with it's long, low twintails that curled into a spiral at the ends, and the ahoge that curled backwards on top of it's head. The voice it had claimed was also hers. The grating, irritating, sweet and melodic voice he loved so much.
The creature steps forward towards Sebek, like it always does. It moves around as if it were gliding, similar to how a merman moves through water. This place, these dreams where its territory and Sebek is their prey. It wraps its arms around his neck and pulls him close. Sebek keeps his composure long enough to resist the gnawing urge to wrap his arms around it in response. It's always a losing battle in the end, but he believes himself stronger than his desires.
"Did you miss me?" It whispers in his ear with a girlish giggle. Every word it speaks feels like a hammer to the skull and an arrow to the heart.
"Yes."
He can't find it in himself to lie.
The creature pressed itself closer to him. It feels like a real person, one made of flesh and blood and not something that belongs to the shadows. Sebek can feel every curve of the creature's body, the fold of every fabric and the tickles of every hair. The only thing keeping him from believing this is Charlotte and not a creature created to haunt him is the lack of any scent. Charlotte's hair smells like honey, her skin smells like roses and she likes to wear a perfume that smells like fresh berries and tangerines.
As long as the creature has only claimed three of his senses, Sebek won't allow himself to fall into delusion.
"I missed you, you know." It started playing with the ends of Sebek's hair. A gentle scrape to the back of his head through gloved hands sent a shiver down his spine. "I always miss you, when I can't see you."
"You see me every night." Sebek's attempts to nip the bud fell flat, like it always does. If he allowed his delusions to take over, he swears the creature was pouting.
"It's not the same." It whined, snuggling itself closer to him "I want to touch you," it ran the tip of its fingers down the back of Sebek's neck "feel you." Sebek couldn't feel anything in his ear as it whispered so softly and sweetly "The way that lovers do."
"Is that what you think we are?"
"Of course!" It tightened it's grip on Sebek, forcing him down to its level and suffocating him with nothing "I love you so much. Don't you love me too?"
Yes.
So much so it hurts to think about. His heart was overflowing with want and need for the one he shoved away so vociferously that it drove her into the arms of another. Right into the arms of one he considered a brother. Into the arms of someone who will love the rose for all its thorns. Because accepting someone for who they are is part of loving them with your whole being.
"No."
The creature released him from it's grip, and Sebek could breathe again. The creature tilted its head at him in confusion. Perhaps it was pouting again. "You don't love me?"
"I love her. Not you."
"But I am her silly!" The creature laughed. It was so sure of itself, in its ability to trick Sebek's heart into believing a lie.
Sebek almost believed it himself.
But he has seen the way Charlotte's eyes steel themselves whenever he steps into the room. He's seen the ways she's expressed her annoyance at him when he's stepped out of line. They bicker. They argue. They throw words they never mean and worry too much about the proper apology. She always speaks about meeting people halfway, he's seen her do it to those who have been far worse to her than he, yet Sebek has never once even attempted to step forward despite her willingness to meet him there. Sebek has pricked himself on her thorns so many times that it blindsided him to how beautiful her petals were until it was far too late.
"My silly little Sebby." The creature cupped the apples of Sebek's cheeks with both hands. The fabric of its gloves were soft, just as he imagined Charlotte's were. "You've started believing in lies again."
It pulled Sebek's face closer to it. He placed his hands on its shoulders and shoved it away before their lips could meet.
He wouldn't allow himself to fall into delusion.
Sebek looked down at the creature. The shadows had all disappeared, and Charlotte was standing before him.
Her wide, doe eyes looked up at him with confusion. Her eyebrows were knitted and her soft, pink lips were pouting.
She looked adorable, and it took everything in Sebek's power not to pull her back in and claim her lips with his own. He wanted to kiss her so much she'd have to worry about her makeup smudging, about the possibility of marks being left and to complain about how swollen and bruised her lips where once all was said and done.
"Did I do something wrong?"
Yes.
She's stolen what she never wanted in the first place, and discarded it like it was nothing. Like he was nothing.
She made him fall into delusion.
"Of course not."
Charlotte smiled. It was as radiant as ever. "I'm glad!"
She pulled herself into Sebek's embrace, no longer capturing him by the neck but tightly around his torso, holding onto him like a lifeline. This time Sebek couldn't stop himself from returning the affection. He pulled her so close it hurt to breathe. He didn't want to let go, not for the world.
Maybe, just maybe, if he turned off his brain, he could pretend all of this was real. He could pretend that Charlotte was his. That every I love you was really meant for him and not either directed towards another or a figment of his heartbroken imagination. He could pretend his heart had been returned to him tenfold.
He could pretend he was loved.
"I love you."
She didn't.
"I love you too."
He wished he didn't.

A Moment Of Rest
Summary: "I'll make sure nothing happens. Scouts honor."
Characters: Silver (Twisted-Wonderland), Original Female Character(s)
Tags: Established Relationship, Not Beta Read
A/N: My last LotSil fic of 2024! May 2025 will be filled with more of these two <3
"I think you need to take a break, Silver."
"I don't need a break, Starlight." The boy kept swinging his training sword, trying and failing to keep his eyes open. Charlotte rolled her eyes as she watched Silver's head roll downward in one breath, only to stand upright again the next. The girl knew her boyfriend's dedication towards his responsibility as Malleus guard could teeter the line of stubbornness. It was something she fell in love with, but that didn't mean it didn't concern her once every blue moon.
"You can't preform at your best if you don't allow yourself some rest." Charlotte patted the ground beside her, inviting the boy to sit beside her under an oak tree "I'll make sure nothing happens." Silver finally looked over at her, annoyance lacing every inch of his pretty features "Scouts honor."
The boy sighed and unceremoniously dropped his wooden sword in the grass, fatigue claiming his rational senses. Silver took a spot beside Charlotte under the tree and the girl scooted herself closer until their shoulders touched. This felt nice. Sitting side by side like this, resting under the shade of a large and proud oak tree while the setting sun illuminated them both in its heavenly glow. The birds in the tree tops sang songs to one another, calling their lovers home.
It wasn't long before Charlotte felt Silver's head land on her shoulder. She went to make a joke about him feeling comfortable enough around her to lower his guard in such a manner, only to see the boy's eyes closed and his breathing even.
Charlotte smiled softly. Their romantic relationship was still new, yet the way Silver dozed away quietly on her shoulder felt like an age old ritual.
The girl gently kissed the crown of her lover's head and leaned against it. "Sleep tight, Moondrop."

Lip Gloss
Summary: He needs to return it
Characters: Sebek Zigvolt, Original Female Character(s)
Tags: Unrealized Unrequited Love, Sebek gets a bit weird about some lip gloss he found on the ground, Not Beta Read
A/N: I never intended for Lottie to have more than one character romantically interested in her, but sometimes when talking about Lottie and Silver to a friend of mine we bring up a subplot where Sebek is continuously confused to have romantic feelings for Lottie despite that not being true. Looks like now it's true
He needs to return it.
Sebek stared up at the half empty tube of pink lip gloss in his hand, held between his thumb and index finger. It was a gentle shade of pink, and when he turned the tube around he could see a kaleidoscope of different colors bounce off the small pockets of glitter packed inside.
He needs to return it.
Yet somehow he can't.
Sebek knows who the gloss belongs to. It belongs to that human-
Charlotte. Her name is Charlotte. He needs to refer to her as such.
It belongs to Charlotte. Sebek remembers seeing her reapplying the gloss at lunch the other day. Ace had made a comment about how much she wears it. She told him it was her favorite shade. That erupted an entire conversation about preferred makeup styles that Sebek couldn't be bothered to remember a thing about. It was all useless noise anyway.
Sebek had found that same tube in the hallway earlier today. It must have fallen out Charlotte's bag when she wasn't looking. No doubt trying desperately to ring in her friends from getting involved in another stupid idea.
He needs to return it.
Yet here he is. Lying down in his bed in his dorm room. Stolen lip gloss in hand as he watches it shimmer in the dim lights above.
It looks so different in the tube. While on Charlotte's lips it has an almost translucent appearance. It's so close to the natural color of her lips it almost doesn't seem like she's wearing anything. Not until the light catches on it.
Sebek's thoughts began to wander. They wander to all sorts of uncouth scenarios like what it would feel like to kiss her with it on. What would it taste like on his tongue. Was the gloss sweet? Did it have a taste at all? Would it make his lips sticky after claiming hers with his own? How would it look to others if traces of it could be seen on him? What rumors would begin to spread about them? Would they think she's his?
He needs to return it.
Sebek sits up in his bed. He adjust the way he's holding the lip gloss, now holding it tightly with all his fingers. Shaking hands unscrews the cap off the gloss.
He takes a moment to examine the gloss on the applicator. To watch as it shines on the wand as he turns it in the light. It again, looks different than when in the tube or when on Charlotte's lips.
Sebek can vividly remember how she applied the gloss the other day, despite only seeing it out of the corner of his eye.
He swiped the wand on the middle of his bottom lip. From that dividing line he ran the gloss up to the right corner of his lips and back to the center. He dipped the wand back into the tube, scraping off some of the excess as he went, and repeated the process again. From the center of his bottom lip, he swiped the wand up to the left side and back down to the center. He rubbed his lips together to apply gloss to the top lip. He outlined the curves of his top lip, defining it's shape.
He screwed the tube shut and held it in the palm of his hand.
The gloss was sticky.
It didn't have a taste.
He needs to return it.
"What are you doing?"
Charlotte looked up from the ground, her eyes wide and heartbeat racing in her ears. Thankfully it was only Sebek, no one she had to worry about.
"I lost my favorite tube of lip gloss, so I'm retracing my steps to try and find it."
"Is it that important to you?"
Charlotte crossed her arms and frowned at the boy. Her patience was growing thin, and time spent bickering was time better spent searching.
She looked back to the floor with a frown, even more determined to find her missing lip gloss now that she knew she was going to be scolded. "That tube was nine Madol. If I lost it that's money I can't get back."
Her concentration was broken as she heard Sebek pull his wallet out of an inner pocket of his blazer and took out a couple of bills. He forcibly uncrossed one of Charlotte's hands and roughly placed the bills into her palm. "Buy yourself a new tube. Keep the change should you lose it again. Don't bother paying me back."
Charlotte looked down at the crumpled bills in her hand as she heard Sebek walk away. It was enough to buy at least three tubes. She was half expecting Sebek to help her find her lip gloss, all the while chastising her about her carelessness and forgetfulness.
And if she wasn't so absorbed in her own confusion, Charlotte likely wouldn't have missed the indent in Sebek's pocket the exact size of her missing lip gloss tube, nor the reminiscent of its shimmer on the corner of his lips.

The Ghost Of My Parents AU (A Proper Introduction)
Guardian Spirits are the ghosts of those who watch over their loved ones from beyond the grave. Immune to the rules of normal specters, Guardian Spirits are unable to intervene with the lives of the living. They are forced, for better or for worse, to watch over their loved ones in silence, their presence never to be known. They are able to interact with other kinds of ghosts and ghouls, but as an act of courtesy they will never mention Guardian Spirits to those they watch over. Maternal figures, especially mothers who died during childbirth or while their child is still young, are the most common kind of Guardian Spirits.
Charlotte Marie (Lottie):
The "magicless" Prefect of the Ramshackle Dormitory. A young woman scared of her own shadow who inherits the powers of The Mark Of The Spirit, which allows her to commune with the dead, see them as they where in life and travel between The Realm of The Living and The Great Hereafter whenever she pleases. When encountering the spirits of Queen Leah Istvan of Bladevale and Princess Maleanor Draconia of Briar Valley, she makes it her life's mission to lead the two wayward spirits into the Great Hereafter, but first must conquer the hurdle of making them see that their children do not need their mother's protection, and the even greater hurdle of helping them overcome centuries of prejudice and learn to walk alongside one another as friends
Leah Istvan:
The Queen of Bladevale and mother of Silver. A gentle and demure woman, she was raised to be a good wife and mother rather than a queen in spite of her natural gifts of strategy and intellect. She spent 400 years by her sleeping son's side, her wails resounding throughout the halls of Wildrose Castle, haunting the villagers that lived nearby and the poor soul who attempted to get to close to her infant son before he could awake. Despite being a patient and understanding person, Princess Maleanor always bring out the worst in her, often leading the two to fight whenever Lottie isn't around to intervene
Maleanor Draconia
Crown Princess of Briarland and mother of Malleus Draconia. After her death at the hands of The Knight of Dawn, Maleanor stayed by her son's side while Lilia searched for a way to hatch him. Even after her beloved child was born, she continued to act as the star that looked over him, even following Malleus to Night Raven Collage when his time for enrollment came. Her contempt for humans causes strife between herself, Leah and Lottie, and often refutes the young girl's attempts to lower her walls and allow her in
The Knight of Dawn (Stephan Istvan)
The King Consort of Bladevale and father of Silver. In death he choose to live in a self proclaimed exile in the far corners of The Great Hereafter, where he now lives a quaint life tending to his garden, thinking that the blood forced on his hands that will never wash away. For 383 years, he spent every Halloween Night trying to convince Leah to allow the Fates to watch over and protect their infant son, but every year his pleas would fall on deaf ears. Now the two spend their one day together in each other's arms, leaving the heartbroken Knight of Dawn to wonder when he'll truly be able to be reunited with the love of his life

For Many Years To Come
Summary: "It's beautiful." Charlotte whispered, worried that if she dare spoke any louder the magic that created this place would disappear completely.
"It is." The girl looked over to find Silver staring at her like he was just shot by Cupid's arrow. A gentle smile formed on his lips, his auroral eyes as gentle as a doe. He looked at her like she was the only person in the world. A rare sight to behold from the stoic boy, but not an unwelcome one.
"I'm talking about the view, Silver."
The boy's face flushed a pretty shade of pink. He stifled a cough into his hand to clear his embarrassment "Right, of course."
Characters: Silver (Twisted-Wonderland), Original Female Character(s)
Tags: Not Beta Read, Post Canon, Post One Year Later, Silver's trying his hardest to be romantic and that's all that matters
A/N: Happy One Year Anniversary to Silver and Lottie! Here's to hoping for many more years to come
When Silver told Charlotte he had a date prepared for their anniversary, the girl was a bit hesitant at first. While her boyfriend was charming, kind and considerate of her wants and needs, he wasn't the most in tune with the ins and outs of a romantic relationship. He was learning, just as she was, so Charlotte wouldn't hold him accountable for things he didn't know or understand. He always tried to meet her half way, and that was all Charlotte could ask for.
Still, when Silver had told her not to wear shoes with too high or thin heels, Charlotte was more than a little cautious about their plans.
Regardless of her initial concern, she was currently hiking through a semi beaten path in the woods behind campus grounds dressed up to the nines that were readily available in her closet. Charlotte wore a strapless powder blue dress with a knee length aline skirt and a sweetheart neckline layered underneath a lace dress with a high collar and short, puffed sleeves. Her long brown hair had been partially braided with a white tulle ribbon, finishing with a bow to hold the two ends together. True to Silver's suggestion, she wore a set of white one inch heels with a round toe and a bow attached at the heel for an added decoration. A simple set of pearl stud earrings adorned Charlotte's ears to complete the look.
Silver himself made sure to dress his best for the occasion as well (whether by his choice or Liliaās was the real question). He wore a white, long sleeve button up shirt underneath a black vest, a pair of tan dress pants with a simple pair of black loafers. His hair had been pulled back into a low ponytail that he knew Charlotte adored, held in place with a satin black ribbon. In his left hand, Silver held an old wicker basket with a green blanket on top to prevent Charlotte from seeing what he packed inside. His right hand firmly held onto Charlotte's, his thumb running down the back of her hand in repeated gentle motions.
"We're almost there, Starlight." Silver kept his gaze ahead. The growing anticipation on what surprise her boyfriend had planned was starting to eat at Charlotte. It was rare for Silver to plan their dates, he usually followed along with whatever whims his girlfriend would come up with. To see him take the initiative and plan a romantic evening was already enough to make the girl's heart soar.
Up ahead, Charlotte spotted a series of vines draping down from the interwoven tree branches above, creating something like a curtain. Charlotte wasnāt sure if the vine curtain was natural, but what she did know is that whatever Silver had planned, it was behind them.
The two stopped just shy of the vines. Before Charlotte could ask what they were going to do next, little blue birds had descended from the tree tops to pull back the vines, inviting the two lovers inside.
"Did you ask them to do that?" Charlotte joked as they continued forward. She smiled and nodded at their little helpers as a silent thank you. One of them chirped in response, which the girl took as a youāre welcome.
"Would you be less impressed if I said yes?" The girl turned her smile towards her boyfriend and shook her head. Even in the moonlight, the faint flush of embarrassment adorning Silver's face was as clear as day. It was so like him to ask his woodland friends to help make the day more magical for them both.
Charlotte looked over in awe at the clearing before them. A lake sat in the middle of the enclosed area, which served as a home to a variety of water fowls that made no stir at the arrival of their human guests. Several small jars filled with twinkling lights were strung on the tree tops with twine, mixing with the reflection of the moonlight on the lake's surface and the slow fading of the fireflies to faintly illuminate the clearing. A blanket sat by the bank of the lake, just close enough for whoever sat on it to enjoy watching the birds, but not close enough to risk getting wet.
"It's beautiful." Charlotte whispered, worried that if she dare spoke any louder the magic that created this place would disappear completely.
Silver released Charlotte's hand and held out his elbow for her to take. "This way now."
Once they were linked at the elbows, Silver led Charlotte down to the blanket. He laid the basket down and soon joined it, taking Charlotte with him. The girl tucked her skirt under her legs and watched as Silver unpacked the basket. It was filled with all sorts of goodies, mostly sandwiches but she could very faintly see a box with the logo for a familiar, favorite bakery.
"I'm sorry it's not much. I was sure of the location, but I wasn't exactly sure what to pack." Silver handed Charlotte a sandwich.
"Don't worry too much about it." The girl gently took the food she was offered, unwrapping the sandwich and taking a bite. It was delicious, thankfully not prepared by Lilia, and she couldn't hide the excitement in her eyes as she took bite after bite.
"Is it good?" Silver asked, still looking at Charlotte with love struck eyes. The girl nodded, but her face flushed as she realized how closely she was being watched. She started to take smaller, daintier bites and focused her gaze on a pair of swans that recently landed in the lake.
The two ate in silence, enjoying the other's company while watching the birds. Silver even packed a small bag of peas and corn to give to the birds, which Charlotte enjoyed feeding to their feathered friends.
Once all their food was eaten and when the birds had their full of their treats, Charlotte scooted herself closer to Silver and rested her head against his shoulder. His arm was wrapped around her waist, pressing calming circles into her side. The girl took a deep sigh and snuggled herself closer to her boyfriend, wishing for nothing more than to stop time and enjoy one of the rare moments where they could just be with one another.
āI have another surprise for you.ā
Charlotte opened her eyes and took herself out of her loverās embrace to look Silver in the eyes. There was more? Oh how he spoiled her so.
"Close your eyes, Starlight." The girl did as she was told without much of a second thought. Charlotte trusted Silver enough not to question his surprises.
As soon as she closed her eyes, Charlotte heard the sound of rustling coming from the basket. The gentle tinkle of metal was faint, but familiar.
"Are they still closed?"Ā
"Yes Silver, my eyes are still closed."
"Good."
Charlotte felt something being dropped over her shoulders. Her breath hitched as Silver gently lifted her long hair so the chain could sit flush against her neck. Whatever Silver had just given her, it wasn't very heavy. It didn't clasp in the back, and the chain was quite large given how easily it slipped around Charlotte's head.
"You can open your eyes now." Silver's voice wasn't as close as it was a moment ago.
The girl carefully opened her eyes to see the necklace she had been given. The chain was gold, and sitting at the end near her breast was a crown shaped ring adorned with brilliant gemstones reminiscent of the aurora at dawn and too intricate of vine patterns to have been carved by a human hand.
This was-
"The Knight of Dawn's ring?" Charlotte looked up at her boyfriend "Silver, I can't take this."
She moved to remove the ring from around her neck, but Charlotte was stopped by Silver gently placing his rough hands on top of her own.
"I know you can't." Silver's clear, auroral eyes stared firmly into Charlotte's deep brown ones "But my biological parents gave me this ring as an infant in hopes that it will keep me safe.
"And now I'm giving it to you, to do the same." He moved his fingers down the chain and stopped at the ring "I can't always be there to protect you, Starlight, but I want you to be safe, always.ā
Charlotte looked down at the ring. Even after four hundred years, the ring still shimmed like new. Despite understanding the clear and pure intentions behind the decision, this still felt wrong. The ring was never meant to be herās. The fact the two were able to meet was a stroke of fate (although Silver always told her never to refer to their meeting as such, to meet and love Charlotte was a choice Silver made on his own); the two of them came from both different worlds and different periods of time.
"It's a family heirloom, Silver." Charlotte refused to look Silver in the eyes, still focused on the ring around her neck. The girl's breath hitched as rough hands gently cupped the side of her face, forcing her to look up and directly into the eyes of her lover.
"And you are my family. Though not by blood," Silver gently kissed the center of Charlotte's forehead "though not yet by law" he kissed the tip of her nose "but most definitely by love."
Silver's lips gently connected with Charlotte's. This wasn't their first kiss, only the heavens above would know how many they shared in the past year, but it felt like it was. The hesitant way Silver kissed her was reminiscent of the very first time they fell into one another's allure, back when they still believed that doubt had any place in the room. When he pulled away, Charlotte found herself longing for that connection again. To feel his lips against her own in a proof of love that only she would know.
āI want you to have it.ā Silver guided the ring into the palm of Charlotteās hand, and gently forced her fingers to curl around it and hold the ring close. āI want you to wear it always, as a reminder that weāll always be with you and that you are never alone.ā
Silver brought Charlotteās closed fist up to his lips and kissed her fingers.
āWell now I feel bad,ā Charlotte looked away, hoping to lighten mood and hide the flush on her face āI donāt have anything as sentimental to give you.ā
āYour love is all I need.ā Charlotte saw Silverās charming smile from the corner of her eye. āPlus you already gave me that cardigan you made me.ā
Charlotte watched with wide eyes as Silver turned back to the basket and pulled out the gift she had made him. A simple tan colored cardigan made from wool with bluebirds and black thorny vines embroidered onto the ends, complete with brass buttons to hold it closed.
āYou brought that here?ā How much was he able to fit inside that little wicker basket? Charlotte made a mental note to ask Lilia if he had any advice on packing for trips, surely Silver would have learned that from him.
āOf course. I figured it would get cold, so I planned on draping it over your shoulders or letting you use it as a blanket if you fell asleep.ā
Charlotte giggled. How sweet of Silver was it to pack a cardigan made for him only to use it to keep her warm. And they say chivalry is dead. āI made it for you to wear, you know.ā
āAnd wear it I shall.ā Silver draped the cardigan over Charlotteās shoulders, holding the ends of the neckline closed so he could pull her in close and claim yet another kiss from her lips. āIāll wear it everyday, until it no longer fits.ā
āWhen you grow too big for it,ā the girl removed the cardigan from her shoulders with little resistance from Silver and placed it over his āIāll turn it into a pillow for you.ā She repeated the motion, holding the ends of the cardigan closed and using it to steal a kiss.
Silver placed his arms through the sleeves of the cardigan, finally wearing it properly. While it didnāt quite match the rest of his outfit, the cardigan fit him nicely and Charlotte was already thinking about making him a matching hat.
āThen I hope I stay this size forever, so I can always enjoy the clothes you make me.ā
āIāll keep you up on that.ā Charlotteās manicured finger gently tapped the tip of Silverās nose twice.
Silver gave Charlotte a gentle smile, and she wondered if he saw the same future for them together. One where they spend the rest of their days in each otherās arms, in a little woodworkers cottage in the middle of the woods of Briar Valley.
āI hope you will.ā

Checkmate
Summary: Although it's unfair to say she prefers the gentle hearted Leah over the passionate and audacious Maleanor, it felt like the blonde woman actually wanted to be around Charlotte whenever the two crossed paths. It makes a world of difference to someone who already felt like a fish out of water.
Characters: Original Female Character(s), Leah (Twisted Wonderland)
Tags: The Ghost Of My Parents AU, Not Beta Read, Mentions of Maleanor, The Knight of Dawn and Henrick
A/N: While not directly related to The Ill Informed, you should go and read that fic first before reading this one
"And that looks like checkmate." Charlotte stared in awe as her King was removed from the board, wondering how her opponent had managed to overpower her so quickly without her noticing.
"How did you do that?" She looked up at Leah with wide eyes "I could've sworn I had the advantage that time!"
Leah giggled and placed her index finger to her smiling lips. "A lady never reveals her secrets, Little Dove."
If Princess Maleanor was a raging typhoon, a maelstrom of unpredictable proportions, then Queen Leah was a calming cool and gentle summer breeze. Unlike the draconic princess, Leah was easy to get along with and agreeable; Charlotte didn't feel like she had to walk on eggshells around her and was free to be herself. Although it's unfair to say she prefers the gentle hearted Leah over the passionate and audacious Maleanor, it felt like the blonde woman actually wanted to be around Charlotte whenever the two crossed paths. It makes a world of difference to someone who already felt like a fish out of water.
Charlotte slowly began to pack up her chess set, still feeling the sting of her loss in her heart. She really wanted that win.
"Thank you for indulging in me, Lottie." A dreamy sigh passed Leah's lips, which were curled up in a placid smile. "I hadn't played chess in such a long time. It's good to see I haven't lost my touch."
"Did you play chess all the time, Leah?"
"Oh yes!" Her rose pink colored eyes sparkled like jewels "Stephan and I used to play chess all the time whenever he was home. Henry and I used to play together when we were children as well, but he would always throw a fuss whenever he lost so our father told us to stop playing against one another."
Charlotte paused and looked up at Leah, the Knight in her hand waiting to be reunited with its Queen "How often did you win?"
"Every time." Leah smiled fondly at the memory. "Neither of them could beat me, or anyone I challenged to my recollection." She fiddled with her fingers as she continued, the memory clearly growing uncomfortable. "Mother told me not to talk about it to others, saying it was unbecoming of a proper lady to boast in such a manner."
Leah's past was a troublesome topic. She never liked to talk about her family for an extended period of time. Sometimes her elder brother Henrick would be the center of a story for a short while, but her parents would only be mentioned once before changing the topic. She mostly spoke about her childhood, her and her husband's courtship and the seventeen years she watched her son being raised by Lilia. She never mentioned how she died, or what happened during the events of the Human-Fae Wars. As curious as she was about the lost section of Fae history, Charlotte couldn't go to Maleanor for those answers either. Her inquiries were met with a glare sharper than steel and the rumble of thunder in the distance. Despite how different the two were, they both overlapped in more ways than either would care to admit.
Charlotte looked down at the Knight in her open palm. She closed her fingers around it, holding the piece tightly. Leah never lost a game, eh? Charlotte will see about that. "How about we go for another round?"
"And be beaten for the fifth time in a row?" Leah hid her lips behind her hand as she chuckled, clearly amused by Charlotte's proposition.
"I'm a lot more competitive than I let on, Leah." Charlotte quickly began to unpack the set, placing the white pieces on Leah's side of the board. "Besides, I'm not going to stop until I win."
Leah gave a hearty and playful laugh, her rosy lips curved in a mischievous smile, a spark of excitement in her gentle eyes. "That's the spirit Little Dove! Letās hope your bark isnāt bigger than your bite."

The Ill Informed
Summary: "Daughter of Man, I heard yo- Great Thorn Witch you look horrendous!" Charlotte's ghostly visitor reeled back in horror at the state of her second favorite human. "Thank you, Princess Maleanor. I feel horrendous."
Characters: Original Female Character(s), Meleanor Draconia, Grim (Twisted-Wonderland), Ramshackle Dorm Ghosts (Twisted-Wonderland)
Tags: Sickfic, Not Beta Read, The Ghost Of My Parents AU, We're probably OOC here but I don't really think I care anymore tbh
A/N: Yes, the first entry in the Ghost of My Parents AU isn't establishing the setting, but a sick fic. I'm sicker than a dog rn so I'm going to use that as an excuse for bad this is!
Charlotte groaned as she saw the flame on the candelabra by the door to her room change from yellow to green.
"Daughter of Man, I heard yo- Great Thorn Witch you look horrendous!" Charlotte's ghostly visitor reeled back in horror at the state of her second favorite human.
"Thank you, Princess Maleanor. I feel horrendous." Charlotte blew her nose and tossed her snot-filled tissue into the bin next to her bed. The headache caused by her fever left the ill human in no mood for the shenanigans that followed her second favorite Dragon Fae.
Grim, who had been curled up and purring next to Charlotte on the bed, looked up and around. "Is the princess here?"
"She is." Grim signed, still not happy that he was the only resident of Ramshakle unable to see the esteemed and noble Princess Maleanor Draconia. Unfair, he called it. If his hench-human can see the otherworldly, why can't he!? Grim curled back up, mumbling something about waking him up again when she left.
"What happened to you?" Maleanor stepped closer to Charlotte's bed hesitantly. She was a ghost and unable to be inflicted by the illness that spread to the living, but the sense of caution never leaves one when dealing with the sick. Then again, Charlotte did look absolutely gross when sick, so she couldn't blame her. A nose that never stopped running even when clogged up, a cough that left her throat raw and angry, a fever that made her more tired than usual and uncharacteristically bitter. Anyone would stay away from her if they saw her in this state.
"I caught a cold, that's all. Happens all the time." Charlotte took a sip from her water bottle in a mock attempt to sooth her sore throat. It wasn't helping any, but it was better than nothing.
Maleanor rolled her eyes and shook her head. She sat down on the edge of the bed and placed the back of her clawed hand on Charlotte's forehead before grabbing the tip of her ears. Her hands felt nice and cool. Maybe she should ask Erza to get her another ice pack from the freezer.
Ā "What are you doing?"
"Don't ask stupid questions. I'm checking your temperature, obviously."
Charlotte pouted. Maleanor was never really this kind to her. She viewed the human as little more than a bug when they first met, and that opinion later shifted to a free form therapist she could bother whenever she wanted. The feeling that Maleanor only spent time with Charlotte because she had no one else to never really left the back of her mind. Maybe she did care about her, or she was simply using her to experience what it's like to take care of a sick child. Either could be true, really.
Maleanor removed her hand from Charlotte's face and shook it like she was trying to remove an ant that crawled on her. "You're burning up. How dreadful."
"Tell me something I don't know." Charlotte placed her forearm over her eyes, the light in the room suddenly becoming more than she could bare. She heard Maleanor groan before getting up.
"I'm trying to help you, you know. You could cooperate a bit more."
"Do you even know the first thing about taking care of someone whose sick? Let alone a sick human?" Everything about Maleanor made it very clear she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. From the way she held herself, to her clothes and manner of speaking. This was likely new territory to her.
Charlotte moved her arm to look at Maleanor. Her arms where crossed and her weight had been shifted to her right leg. She was scowling at her, tail flickering about in annoyance.
"I will have you know I watched Lilia take care of Silver when he was ill before."
Charlotte's retort about Lilia not being the best example fell flat on her tongue.
"I know what you need." Charlotte raised an eyebrow.
"And what would that be?"
"Some soup!" Maleanor banged her fist into her hand like she discovered the answer to all of life's problems. "You need some chicken something-or-other soup!"
Like a blot of lightning, Maleanor was dashing out of Charlotte's room before the human could even inform her that she already had some soup earlier that day and wasn't hungry. Trein, Crewel and Vargas had been kind enough to stop in during their prep periods to check up on her and make sure she took some medicine. Ace and Deuce had stopped by as well during lunch and got her something to eat from the cafeteria, Epel tagged along and brought some cider his family sent him.
All Charlotte could do was groan when she heard a massive crash coming from the kitchen, and made a mental note to thank Phineas, Ezra and Gus for having to deal with Maleanor's shenanigans yet again.

Midnight Promise
Summary:Ā After shedding himself of his tunic, vest and pants and putting on an old shirt and pulled on some sleep pants, Silverās attention was swayed to the little box in his pantās pocket. A little gift he had gotten for Charlotte and was keeping on his person until it was time to give it to her. Although, to call it ālittleā felt like a massive understatement and gross oversimplification.

A/N: Based on a scene from the Mister Darling by CHiCO With Honeyworks MV, plus all the ring restoration videos YouTube Shorts has been pushing me for some reason
The cottage was dark and quiet when Silver arrived home. With how late it was in the evening, he shouldn't be surprised. The moon was high in the sky, its pale silver light providing some break in the dark. It would have been more appreciated, had he not known the layout of the cottage like the back of his hand.
Silver locked the door before kicking off boots and leaving them by the shoe rack. He quietly made his way through the foyer, past the living room and up the stairs to his and Charlotte's shared bedroom. With every step he took, he could feel his bones ache from the long week he had spent by Malleus' side. He was set to inherit Wild Rose Castle until it was time for him to take the throne on his 200th birthday, and preparations had to be made for it. Silver considered himself lucky that he was able to get the weekend off when he did, as there was a lot of work still left to be done. The castle has been in such a taste of disarray for centuries that, to Silver, it felt like ransacking an ancient ruin. Uprooting the memories of the dead who had laid to rest there like the thorns and briar that covered the ancient stone from the depths of the soil to the top of the highest spire.
Truly, there was no better place for Malleus. The one who loved the scars that showed the passage of time like no other. Silver supposed no one else would be able to appreciate the beauty that came with its disrepair than he.
And Silverās place was here. Inside of a little cottage, hidden deep within the forest. The quaint cottage was and always would be his home, the place he associated all of his most precious memories from childhood. Even now as a royal knight when his duty was to serve and protect his King till his dying breath, he still would give anything to return to his childhood home. To find his father and girlfriend waiting for him with open arms. To watch as they bicker over what to make for his welcome home feast and how to prepare it. While Lilia no longer lived with them, having moved out into a small home close to the capital to give the couple their own space not too long ago, the idea seemed nice.
As quiet as a mouse, Silver opened the door to his bedroom to find Charlotte fast asleep. She was still in her day clothes, clutching one of Silverās old shirts like a baby does with their blanket with Grim curled up at the end of the bed by her feet. Charlotte had probably wanted to wait up for him, eager to see him after being gone for what she would describe as long time. She was always a bit clingy, but Silver supposed that comes with the territory of her circumstance. She wasn't sure if her time here would end, so she tried to hang onto those who made her life a bit brighter as tightly as she could. It would surprise Silver none to find out that she had fallen asleep on the couch waiting for him and Grim had to struggle to get her up the stairs. Or perhaps she had climbed into bed willingly and asked her companion to wake her up when he arrived home, and the direbeast grew more forgetful of his promise as his own eyelids began to grow too heavy.
Silver moved some hair from out of Charlotteās face. She didnāt stir at the motion, sleepās powerful grip keeping her in dreamland. Good, he would feel bad if he woke her up now. She deserved to rest.
He contemplated crawling into bed with her, but his travel clothes would be uncomfortable to sleep in. Now that the curse he had been blessed with had fully been broken, Silver found he missed how easy it was to fall asleep in whatever he was wearing. During his school days, it was a lot easier to give into the curse and flop into bed wearing his Dorm Uniform than to change into night clothes every evening.
So he went to change, patiently waiting to crawl into bed and hold his girlfriend close. After shedding himself of his tunic, vest and pants and putting on an old shirt and pulled on some sleep pants, Silverās attention was swayed to the little box in his pantās pocket. A little gift he had gotten for Charlotte and was keeping on his person until it was time to give it to her.
Although, to call it ālittleā felt like a massive understatement and gross oversimplification. Inside the box sat a ring, one he planned on proposing to Charlotte with. They were still young, barely even twenty five, and hadnāt found the time to fully talk about their future together given his current schedule. Yet the idea of waking up every morning to her smile, to come home after spending weeks or even months apart to her open arms, to raise a family of his own inside the very same cottage he grew up in with her just felt right.
And so he bought a ring and kept it on him until he knew he was making the right choice. That this strange woman from another world was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. That she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him as well.
Charlotte had once told him the phrase āfortune favors the boldā. A phrase from her world used to describe oneās courage and bravery. At the time, she tied it to the idea of never knowing something until you tried. The ability to look the unknown in the eye with your head held high and not shutter under it's crippling gaze.
And Silver hoped that Lady Fortune was smiling down upon him that evening.
He slipped the ring box out of his pant pocket, taking just the ring with him and walked over to the edge of the bed. He gently took Charlotte's left hand into his and slipped the ring onto her fourth finger.
It fit like a glove.
He took a moment to admire the ring as it sat on her pale finger, watching as it sparkled under the moonlight. A silver band with a low set round diamond in the middle, neighbored by a smaller emerald on either side.Ā A simple ring, one that can go with most of her outfits and with a low risk of being caught or snared while going about her day.
Silver remembers how nervous he was when he first bought the ring, constantly asking his family if they thought Charlotte would like it while inside the shop. Lilia had told him that even if it wasn't her style or dream wedding band, Charlotte would love it because he was the one who gave it to her. It was his physical embodiment of their love.
Silver kissed the back of Charlotteās hand before crawling into bed with her. Neither she nor Grim stirred at the additional person joining them on the mattress. He gently removed his shirt from her grasp, placing it onto the floor to be dealt with in the morning, and pulled Charlotte close to him. As Charlotte nuzzled her head into his shoulder, subconsciously seeking both his warmth and welcoming him home, Silver felt all of his worries about the impromptu proposal fade away as he realized this was how he wanted to end his days for the rest of his life.
With his dear wife sleeping soundly in his arms, and a cat monster the size of a large dog sleeping on the end of their bed.

Confession Preparation
Summary:Ā Not all confessions go the way you plan
Characters: Original Female Character, Silver (Twisted Wonderland)
Tags: Love Confessions, Unplanned Confessions, Not Beta Read
A/N: Based on the song "I'm going to confess to you on Valentine's Day" by kawaiivocalo, particularly the verse that became a meme sometime last year (?)
Charlotte wasn't a fan of club activities ending earlier than usual, but one has very little room for complaints when their club leader is pulled away for official Housewarden duties. The route to Ramshackle was empty this time of day, most students were either at clubs or back in their dorm. The peace and quiet was nice, nothing to disrupt Charlotte's wandering thoughts.
So of course the sound of footsteps behind her turned her blood cold and sent shivers down her spine. Reflexes took over and Charlotte quickened her pace, hopefully discreetly enough to not give away her fear to whoever was behind her.
āPrefect!ā That was a voice she knew. Charlotte turned around to see Silver standing before her. Charlotte liked Silver. Unlike a majority of her classmates, he was nice to her without expecting anything in return. Now she felt bad about assuming the worst, but she's learned that you can never expect the best outcome in every situation.
āDo you need anything, Silver?ā Charlotte clasped her hands behind her back and rolled back and forth on her feet. Was she nervous? A little bit. Despite Silver being one of the nicer people in Night Raven Collage, he still struck an imposing figure. Always standing tall and upright with a steep gaze that made his unusually colored eyes as sharp as steel. The fact that he wasnāt very expressive also didnāt help. The only time he seemed to be at ease was when he was around his family, or during one of his many sleeping spells. Charlotte always found him hard to read, which wasnāt an unusual opinion to have for anyone outside of his immediate circle.
And oh boy, did Charlotte wish she was part of that circle. Maybe then her heart wouldnāt race and the butterflies in her stomach wouldnāt flutter when their eyes met.
āIām going to confess to you on Valentine's Day.ā Silver stepped a little closer, the respectable distance that was kept between them felt suffocating and overwhelming āWould you be able to meet me after school that day by the well in the courtyard?ā
āYeah, I can do that.ā Charlotte wasn't happy about how much her voice had cracked during that sentence alone. Her face was feeling awfully hot, no doubt it was flushed a pretty pink from embarrassment.
āYour face is bright red, are you feeling alright? Youāre not sick are you?ā Silver moved to place the back of his hand against Charlotte's forehead, but she quickly stepped out the way. She wasn't sure she could handle any contact at the moment. She sure did feel sick. Her stomach felt like it wanted to empty itself from how nervous she was, and she felt shivers running down her entire body akin to whenever she was running a fever.
āNo, itās justā¦ā Charlotteās voice shrunk to a whisper. She looked away, refusing to meet Silver's eyes āyou basically already confessed.ā
āOh." His face slowly began to flush as the realization of what he said began to settle in. Charlotte always knew the boy was dense, but even this seemed out of character for him "Then please, forget I said anything.ā
And like nothing had even happened, Silver turned and made his way towards Main Street. Charlotte watched as his pace quickly grew from a respectable walking speed to a full on sprint back to Diasomnia. Perhaps the embarrassment of the situation had caught up to him. Or, perhaps he was eager to get back to the privacy of his dorm room to finish the final preparations for his supposed Valentineās Day Confession.
After a moment to fully process what had just happened, Charlotte sank to her knees, not caring about the sting of her skin meeting the concrete when she fell. She promptly hid her face in her hands, the blush on her face only getting deeper as she kept replaying what Silver had said in her head.
A confession.
He told her he was planning to give her a love confession onĀ Valentineās Day.
Oh Silver, you really would be the death of her.
