“Me,” the older friend starts, his voice hushed compared to the booming voices echoing throughout the snug restaurant. “I would live a simple life if I wasn’t an idol,” fuma pauses, resting his chin on his hand, staring into nothing in particular as he thinks. “Y’know, somewhere in the suburbs. It would be a peaceful life, and my family will be next door. That way I’d always be with them,” his eyes find jo’s, the younger gazing at him with curiosity. “What about you? What would you do?”

“I..” jo’s voice trails, twirling his chopsticks. “I would live on the mountain side.”

fuma interrupts him with his deep chuckle. “Oh? You know the weather is going to be colder, right?”

“Yeah,” jo begins, “but it would be quiet. And I'd stay up a little longer.”

“Why’s that?” fuma looks at the boy, awaiting his answer. 

“To draw the sunset,” he says, finding his response unadorned. fuma nods in silence, an undisturbed pause in their conversation. The sunset wasn’t the only thing jo would sketch, a truth he had yet to tell the others. He knew behind the blended hues of pink and orange there was something else that deserved a beautiful painting, you. 

“That’s sweet,” fuma’s words break jo out of his trance. “Remember to visit me from time to time, alright?” the older grins, nudging the other's shoulder with a gleeful expression.

“Alright,” jo says, flustered. Who knows? Maybe you’ll tag along with him on his adventures, finally showing you off in front of the boys. Maybe they’ll love you as much as he does.
