Summary:

The sun still wasn’t up, but the sky was getting lighter, so Kisame pulled on a sweatshirt, slid on a ratty pair of old shoes, and took Samehada out onto the front porch. She immediately leapt into her favorite chair and curled up as much as she could. Kisame gently patted her head before sitting in the chair next to her. The morning was a quiet sort of peaceful, like it was holding its breath, waiting for sunrise. Kisame relaxed into his chair, just enjoying the quiet.  

Kisame almost didn’t notice Itachi as he quietly slipped through the front door. He was carefully clutching two full coffee mugs, somehow managing to make it seem graceful. He handed Kisame the smaller of the mugs and then settled into the chair next to him. Kisame immediately reached out for his free hand and laced their fingers together. He liked the way he could feel Itachi’s ring between his own fingers, even though the metal was cold against his skin.    

They sat together in a comfortable silence as the sun rose, watching as the sky turned pink, like it was blushing.
