It is not cowardly to stay in the closet. Full stop. You do not owe anyone any part of yourself you aren't ready to share

If you unable to come out because you fear for your safety or well-being or because you know it will cause you substantial discomfort, that is not a defect in you. It's a failure of the society in which you live and the community surrounding you.

If you just don't want to share that part of yourself, that is valid and I support you

Someday I will have my own place. My world won’t be confined to my room. I will stumble sleepily through the house in the morning, opening the blinds. I will sit out in the backyard and look at the stars. I will go out whenever I want to. I will survive long enough to have that.

Coming back to tumblr after a long time away is a trip because currently I’m scrolling my dash trying to figure out who people are and why I follow them because they may have changed things like their icons or names.

Some are obvious to me because I followed them on other social media because of art stuff. Others it’s like OH YEAH I follow you because like Monster High, Neopets etc. While others it’s like STARE YOU ARE A MYSTERY TO CURRENT ME.

I have officially hit that point in my life where I’m questioning am I sick/exhausted because:

1. My new meds

2. A genuine cold that I happened to get around the time I started the new meds. The irony being I haven’t gone anywhere myself, but we do have a toddler (not my own, but still family) in the house now who goes to a program with other kids and they’re little germ magnets. (Said with love as I worked with kids for FIVE YEARS and part of that has been through the events of 2020-now.)

3. Life stuff just wearing me down and not being able to rebound yet.

or 4. A mixture of all three.

I hide my likes because I spent 5 years at my previous job working with younger Gen Z (whom I still run into occasionally) and though the risk is low for it there is a risk of them to stumble upon it. While I am happily willing to embarrass myself on there, youtube and anywhere else I am NOT willing to embarrass myself with my likes. Most are dorky cosplay shiz, crafts etc, but then there’s others that make me go YEAH that’s just for me to know. Nothing too spicy, but still enough to turn me several shades of red if roasted about it.

just saw people on tiktok being like "if you have your likes hidden on here i assume you're a freak and a bad person :/" i am so tired of social media stop stop stop stop

.... You know it’s WILD that at one point Tumblr used to be my go to social media and now there’s just large periods of time I forget about it. Well er maybe not forget as I remember I have one, but it’s like the farthest thing from my mind especially when it comes to social media. Sometimes I pop on to look at fan art of like The Owl House or Gifs, but not much else and I feel like I should change that ha.

at a certain point you just get tired of your own shit. you have to force yourself to meditate, workout, eat mindfully and read the books to form a routine that gives you a sense of happiness within yourself again. it’s exhausting i know, but you gotta keep fighting for yourself because no one will take care and love you the way you can for own being. this life is not something to go bout so casually, everyday is your first and last time to embrace this moment. this life was gifted to you with a planet to explore and souls to experience. so show up for yourself.
