It feels so paralyzing to watch the situation with Avery/Rita/Predstrogen unfold. I had been following some of her posts, seeing her struggle with this last year and doubtlessly even before that.
I reblogged what I could when I saw it, I keep learning. I see more of what was done to my sister's and watch our worst suspicions confirmed. Moderation from as recent as "a few months ago" that took bribes to ban trans women.
And now, when other trans women speak out about it or attempt to document the situation, there's that chance that staff will retaliate against her. Ban her.
All of this which drags Avery back into public attention, where she has to fight for respect from strangers who throw their two cents in on how she reacts.
And it leaves me frozen. What do I do? Is this really a website I feel comfortable on anymore? I cannot undo the harm Avery has gone through. We can't make up for the harassment she went through before this, or the harassment she is currently facing from the CEO. She already has moved on from Tumblr and I wish her only peace on her new social media of choice.
And I suppose this is all to say, I will try to be less silent on this blog from now on.

Why don't the psychic pokemon call you uncle?
Oh, I actually ask them to call me "auntie" instead. Always felt much nicer than uncle.

Reblog if your Pokemon IRL character is an Adult!
//A lot of the pokeblogs here on Rotomblr are younger trainers, which is cool, but it's also nice to see some older characters as well!

Clive my wheelchair cannot go up the stairs Gimme Ramp
Tumblr media
Yes, this is... an ongoing effort. Unfortunately, you can't just build a ramp directly next to the steps. For the obvious problem of "that's a 45 degree incline, you will go rolling right back down it."
We have been pushing to put a ramp wrapping gradually around the elevated land Naranja-Uva is on, but that also has its drawbacks, namely that it would be still incredibly long (though better than 'nothing but service Gardevoir') and require some heavy demolitions. And collide with the stairs somewhat.
As such, we have also been considering cutting into the ground below the courtyard to create an elevator that might bring students directly into the school. But that, too, is a project with some controversy about it ("destroying historical land", and yet again, heavy demolition), and high costs the board enjoys griping about, though the endeavor is perfectly worthy.
If you are interested, @accessabilityanon has done quite incredible work in the area; we have been making progress within the Academy (with a new lobby elevator) but yet struggle with the exterior. Or rather, differing opinions about what to do with the exterior. For now, stopgaps are unfortunately the most agreed-upon alternative, so we have Gardevoir capable of teleporting students to the highest level of the steps and back and, for those more uncomfortable with teleportation, accessible Flying Taxis.

Surely we could just get an elevator built bordering the outer wall without actually cutting into it? People build elevators outside of buildings all the time.

//You know how the pokemon world doesn't have animals (anymore), but still calls pokemon things like "the fox pokemon" or "the owl pokemon"? My headcanon for that is that those names are specific genuses the pokemon fall into, not actually just a specific animal. Like, how owls are called Strigiformes, but everyone just says owl instead. So in the world, people would look at pokemon like hoothoot and say, "Oh, it's an owl!" but referring to its genus, not so much its species. You understand?

Can't stand how people will learn that humans are related to Pokemon and somehow come to the conclusion that different people are different types. That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.
🍑 pechaberrysoda
there are literally so many fighting type people what are you even talking about lmao
🌊 lugias-sopping-anus
Your genetic make up doesn't just magically change type because you took a karate class. Do you also think your Charizard is a Grass type now because it learnt Solar Beam?
✨ ace-trainer-luna
But aren't Psychic type people a thing? Some humans have telekinetic powers, I'm pretty sure there are a few gym leaders who have them. There are even rare cases of children born with psychic abilities.
🌸 cynthiasfuturewife
that's still just learning moves
🌌 mistyterrain
As an actual Psychic type, this post is really disheartening to see. The fact that people who still refuse to acknowledge the existence of psychics are so common is just shocking. We exist!
☣ deathtounova
no one's refusing to acknowledge the existence of shit, you just don't know how types work
🌌 mistyterrain
The sheer ignorance on display here, it's obvious you're just mad you're a normal type lol.
☣ deathtounova
how bout i karate chop your ass and we'll see how "not very effective" it is

Typical physical attacker brutishness, resorting to violence as usual

🥀 cradilyzone
Actual professor here! Genetically, all humans are Normal types, though some of our relatively recent ancestors were Psychic. Part of what let us succeed as a species was reutilizing the brain power originally used for psionics to language and tool use. We do still have some vestigial psychic power that can be trained, though it's quite weak compared to most Pokémon. As for those born with psychic powers, this is considered nowadays to be like an egg move, passed down from parent to child. And no, obviously learning Fighting moves doesn't make you a Fighting type, there is no way for a human to change their type.
