Malvolio’s Revolve
The joy of Shakespeare is that even if you see the same play dozens of times, each production is its own, unique experience.
Having said that… there are certain bits of stage business that often crop up in numerous productions. One of my favorites is Malvolio’s revolve.
Just for fun, here are various examples of Malvolio’s revolve that have been captured on film. (If the gifs don’t work, check out my original post here.)
Alec Guinness in the 1970 ITV Saturday Night Theatre production does the classic dubious, self-conscious revolve, although Sir Toby and his gang are safely behind a hedge and don’t have to hide.
Nicholas Pennell in this 1986 filmed production at the Stratford Festival of Canada executes a confident and rarely-seen double revolve, forcing his peanut gallery to duck out of sight.
In this filmed version of the Renaissance Theatre Company’s 1988 production, Richard Briers executes a very slow , dubious revolve that is notable for being counter-clockwise. In my experience, most Malvolios revolve in a clockwise direction.
Finally, this Stratford Festival production milks the revolve for all it’s worth, with Tom Rooney’s Malvolio turning at just the right speed to miss Sir Andrew’s desperate dash across the stage.
Some productions choose to have Malvolio turn the letter around, rather than himself. Others either blow past the line without acknowledging its comedic gag potential, or cut it in its entirety. All are valid choices, but honestly… why look a gift gag in the mouth?

Signup form specifics
Hey everyone! Just wanted to explain how the signup form works.
What shots you want
In the last question it asks for exactly what shots someone may want, we require the answer to be specific numbers that were designated to specific shots of the video, we need at least 3 shots minimum for the answer.
The breakdown video will have numbers in the bottom right corner like this:

Answers we cannot accept are:
“I’ll take anything”, “any shots with xyz”, “something simple”.
Why?
We are expecting 100+ applications for this project and we do not have time to rewatch the breakdown video 100+ times (36 hours) to choose a scene for every applicant.
In order to streamline the scene assignment part of our job all you need to do is to watch a 22 minute episode once, note down the shots you want as you go and then add them to the application form’s answer.
You only need 3 shots at minimum in your answer but you are welcome to putting more than 10 shots if you want.
Will I get all the shots I write for the answer?
No, this does not mean you will get all of the shots you listed when we assign them, these are only the scenes you are open to recreating for the project. You will get at least 1 of the shots you listed depending on the signup results. This is not first come first served.
How many shots are there?
There are 300+ shots with every shot being between 3 to 7 seconds long, so if we get 100 applicants that means you will all get 3 shots each, that could range from 9 to 21 seconds worth of animation in total.
Can I take on more than 3 shots?
Yes, when all of the shots are assigned to everyone there will be a leftovers list, that list will be first come first served.
We also need every shot in that leftover list to be taken by the end of this year or we will be unable to complete the project, as much as we all only want to animate the cool scenes from this episode we still need the ‘filler shots’ to be taken, otherwise we wont have a full episode.
Can I take on less than 3 shots?
Yes, you can, but your answer on the form must have at least 3 shots minimum.
———
I hope this clears up any confusion with our form, we look forward to seeing you all!

Drew some concepts I really enjoy seeing people depict :D
I think with training he'll be able to slip his ghost instinct into his mind in a more measured way, that'll be super cool

Remember lab safety everyone 👍
Some thought process under the cut!
I've always wanted to depict chronic pain or waves of pain with red circle-ish pattern, well There's finally a piece where I can use it! Super happy! It's the big chunks of circle shapes centered on him, and they're supposed to represent radiation & radiation pain!
Also I have no idea how to represent the "human turning into ghost" theme outside of his body, I used red blood transitioning to green blood in the end and it just looks like his human blood was blasted out of him lol, I hope I get it across

Vent art I did last month. It helped me shake off the "saddies" I was feeling then.
(Side note: I wish Danny was portrayed more vulnerable in the series. Like this kid has gone through so much trauma throughout the series. From being beaten and tortured by his enemies, living in constant fear of his parents rejecting him if they knew he was half-ghost, witnessing his worst possible future, and so on. Reiterating, that he is still a child. Let him have a good cry for once.)

Adding the other vent art I did with my fursona. (Yes, I have one)
