Me, watching my kitten hold still for a suspiciously long time: Ollie, are you peeing on my floor?
Ollie: Not
Me: Are you sure?
Ollie, grunting through time and space to push out a chocolate mcmuffin wider than he is tall: Not

Warning: sick/injured cat story.
So far, it has a happy ending.
Did you know your cat can get eaten alive by fleas? That fleas can actually make an animal anemic? I didn't, but I sure know now.
Wanna know the story?
Ok, so I have some friends. I love them dearly, and we had fallen out of each other's lives. (Me with my troubles, them with theirs.)
We have been visiting lately, which means that I go out to visit on Fridays when I can make it. They have mobility issues and don't drive, so I go to their place. I bring another friend, typically.
This is mutual aid.
It's low impact socializing for me, and I don't have to activate the Hosting Energy. My other friend doesn't drive either, so we all get to socialize.
Friday I took one of my friends to the party at the museum. As we were leaving, and I was working hard at monitoring the door for Cat Containment, she said that the kitty had been hiding lately.
Oh oh.
The following night, I get a call. The cat is very ill. He has a flea issue and they took him to the local vet, but his condition has deteriorated. Turns out that the cat got re-infested at home and the little vampire fleas were draining him for all they're worth.
I went out there, and we took the poor kitty to the 24hr emergency vet. His gums are pale, he *still* has fleas on him, and he's listless and won't eat.
They have two units of cat blood, so they recommend a transfusion.
There's two problems with that, though.
One, it's a procedure that costs around 600+ USD. This is not money that they or I have on hand.
Two, the cat's blood type is B. Which is rarer and not what they have in stock.
So I came up with a new plan:
The vet gave him fluids and an iron supplement. They gave him a medication that would kill all the remaining fleas.
I took him home with me to my house. He's our Basement Kitty right now, in his own space with a nice nest, litter, and fresh food/water.
He will need to be syringe fed. I happen to have the correct syringes on hand.
He will need combing with a flea comb. I have one in my doll stuff. (It's his comb now.)
He will need to be kept warm and fed as much as he will tolerate.
So I'm nursing a sick kitty. Initially I made a kind of blanket fort with an upside down table, but he's too weak to get into the litter box, so I swapped it out for a smaller, cozier box with an open side. I added a pee pad to the bottom and layered in a blanket and strip of an old towel.
I've been syringe-feeding him a churro tube a little at a time. He got up and explored the basement a little bit!
So I think he's going to be ok.
My own kitties (who live on the main floor) are very bewildered by the whole thing.
