Missingno! Larry AU Evidence

This is an AU/Headcanon made by johnchurch on AO3, this was all inspired by them and I really fell in love with it, please support them! (I hope it’s okay mentioning you)

I wanted to share this AU and give some “evidence” to support it for fun. Larry deserves to have some glitch eldritch vibes <3

The iconic Missingo from Red and Blue had a Bird/Normal typing! The Bird Type was a scrapped typing for Red and Blue, which became the Flying Type. Larry specializes in both Normal and Flying types due to being a Gym Leader and an Elite Four member. This is probably a reference to Normal/Flying being the most common dual typing.

Missingno’s party sprite appears as the “generic man” NPC sprite. Larry the Exceptional Everyman…

Missingno is very pixelated with lots of squares and rectangles. Some believe the white spaces with a pixel in the middle are its eyes. Larry is the only character in Scarlet and Violet to have square eyes

Missingno causes a lot of glitches in areas like the Pokémon League Hall of Fame, making all the entries become scrambled or straight up ineligible. In the Scarlet and Violet Books, there are pages that are missing words and letters in every single copy of that book. *Squints at Larry working at the Pokémon League for 3 different jobs*

This is a bit of a joke, but when describing Missingno’s appearance, many websites say it’s shaped “like a backwards L.”

Larry’s Gym Floor has this odd clipping effect going on. It’s more noticeable once you send Pokémon out in the Gym Floor. Depending on the severity of glitches in your game, Pokémon can sink halfway into the floor! Interesting how this effect is only seen in Medali Gym! (His Gym vs Elite Four room for comparison)

The Elite Four battle music has become infamous for somehow glitching, repeating the first few notes over and over again. It’s caused by a Memory Leak glitch, and it’s very unnerving to battle with it playing haha. What did you do, Larry? Were you in a bad mood?

Looking at the slowed-down animation of Larry’s Pokeball throw kinda freaked me out. I love his aggressive throw, but looking at it carefully, it looks like there’s a frame where his head is detached from his body? Once I noticed it, I can’t unsee it! It’s a lot more noticeable when watching the actual animation. Please be more careful with your vessel, Larry

This glitch was so funny to me, but when battling Top Champion Geeta, a glitch can occur where Larry appears at the edge of the arena. He just…watches you battle, unmoving. It’s so perfect haha. Larry glitches his way in to support you and watch you beat up his boss

I know this is just classic Pokémon animation, but Larry pulls all his Pokeballs from his breast pocket instead of a belt or pants pocket. I’ve always loved this animation for its ‘misdirection’ trick. He goes to adjust his tie, and in a flash he pulls out a Pokeball! Considering he has several teams of Pokémon,how do they even fit? Missingno glitches the 6th item in your inventory, giving you 128 copies of that item. People have used this glitch to get tons of Masterballs or Rare Candies. Perhaps Larry’s pocket has these infinite capabilities as well? (also he looks so cool in this screenshoot!)

I love how…aggressively normal Larry is. Average office worker, average tired overworked man, normal personality , normal appearance, normal normal normal. I’d like to imagine that Missingno!Larry tries so hard to behave like a normal person, to the point he’s a bit abnormal haha. If you think about it, his title of the ‘Exceptional Everyman’ fits very well. Exceptional can mean “outstanding,” but also “unusual” and “abnormal.” His title is very deceptive

This AU is so entertaining ! Having this sort of mindset makes the glitches in the game a lot more fun. All the twisted movements, glitched out faces, and see-through landscapes may all be from the forbidden presence of an ‘unremarkable’ Missingno.

Edit: I’m definitely making a Giratina! Larry AU because the reblogs are right, it is too funny to pass up. The real banishment is being stuck in a 9-5 office job and working two side jobs to make ends meet

It was her salvation.
As if she knew what Judy was thinking, Amy turned and hissed a challenge. Her jaw extended impossibly low, revealing rows of deadly fangs.
With a roar, Amy charged her friend. Judy swung the bat as hard as she could and connected with the side of Amy’s head. The creature went down but was up again before Judy could react. In an instant the bat was out of her hands and clanging at her feet. Amy swiped her taloned hands ripping Judy’s shirt and the skin beneath.
Judy cried out as she collapsed to the floor.
Before she knew it, Amy was on top of her, but not before Judy could get her foot up and under Amy’s chest. Amy snarled and squirmed gnashing her teeth inches from Judy’s face. With all of her might, Judy kicked as hard as she could sending Amy backwards against the concrete wall.
Amy righted herself, looked back to Judy and..
Crack! Judy smashed the bat across Amy’s face. Amy hissed and…
…the floor and roll away. Her chest rose and fell again and again as she sucked air into her lungs. As the adrenaline began to wear off, Judy felt her eyes sting with tears. She looked away from the twisted remains of the creature that was once her friend as a wail escaped her lips.
With a labored step, Judy turned toward the open door at the end of the walkway. Blood pounded in her ears every step of the way like the droning of a great cloud of bees.
She pushed the door open until it clanged against the outside wall. Nigh air filled her lungs and for the first time in weeks Judy felt like everything was going to be all right.
She stepped outside into the darkness and ran like hell.

Aaron jumped to his feet and charged after Judy. The Stielhandgranate sailed wide and landed behind the Pathologist.
The explosion tore the the catwalk away in a fiery cloud. Metal buckled, several support struts falling away. Aaron and Judy collapsed on the metal grating.
“Are you okay?” Judy asked her friend.
“I think…” Aaron trailed off as a keening filled the air. Looking back, Judy and Aaron watched as the final support struts cracked.
“Uh, Oh,” Judy, murmured just before the support struts shattered and the catwalk gave away beneath them. Judy gripped Aaron’s arm as the catwalk swung down.

What I find to be most interesting is the the weapons they use. A bat and a wrench. It just reminds me of Stiles.

Wether this is meant to connect to hinting at Stiles or not, we can’t say right now. It’s just interesting.

A deep dive into Scarlet and Violet's lore

Okay so, since the story's kinda the only good thing about these games alongside the characterizations I wanted to share a couple of ideas I have in mind regarding the story so far.

As always excuse eventual grammar errors and strange periods, English is not my first language and I'm trying my very best ahahah

Obviously there's going to be spoilers about the endgame, so beware!

Can we all agree that the time machine and the Pokémons from the past/future thing just has so many holes in it?

Like sure, Turo and Sada are geniuses and may very well have been able to create some sort of machine that allows Pokéballs to travel across time to catch these variants of Pokémons we know in the present, but.

I'm kinda confident that these Pokémons (if we want to call them that) do not come from a different time, they just don't exist at all, or at least they're not supposed to. I mean, they specifically chose to call them Paradoxes, things that shouldn't exist in the first place but are there in front of your eyes somehow. Not Past or Future Forms, not Prehistoric or Futuristic Forms, Paradoxes.

Let's take the Scarlet ones for example for a minute: how come there is no trace left whatsoever of these Pokémons like the Fossils? And don't get me started on Sandy Shock, come on, how the hell is a magnet existing millions of years ago. They don't make sense!

If we read the Scarlet/Violet Book we learn that the Paradoxes, the same ones, have already been encountered by the Area Zero Expedition, which explored the Area Zero 200 years ago, and also very likely during the Great Expedition Era which was around 2000 years ago, and of course no time machine existed back then. This is obviously very strange and Arven as well points this out in the post-game.

So the question is: where exactly do they come from?

Let's start by saying that everything that happened in the Area Zero, from the Teracristal phenomenon that was later brought to the surface, the production of an AI able to copy the Professor in any way that couldn't have been made with the modern human technology, to the making of the time machine was all thanks to the power of the crystals present down there which, we know, come from the infamous third legendary.

I strongly belive, and I see that a great part of the community agrees, that this thing is able to materialize people's imagination, to make their dreams come true.

Think of this: the Professor adores the Scarlet/Violet Book, they bring it together with them since they were kids, they fantasize about a "paradise" described in this book and this dream never leaves them while growing up and they dedicate their whole lives to fulfill it. This dream clearly becomes an obsession, they neglect their child, the AI they created starts to disagree with them, but they still proceed until they succeed in creating the time machine. (Personal opinion: the game should have definitely explored the motive behind the Professor's actions more) But is it really a time machine or is the third legendary making their dream come true by bringing them the creatures they always read about? As long as the machine works neither the Professor and the AI question it's actual nature, obviously they take for granted that it's a time machine.

Following this line of logic the machine helped the AI to fulfill their dream by making them go to the world they wished to explore.

To further support my theory take a look at this page of the Scarlet Book:

1) Why would they put this page in the game (and leakers say we will have this thing in the DLC) which is clearly centered on someone's imagination if the Paradoxes simply come from different times? Because they don't.👀

2) It's absolutely IMPOSSIBILE for this thing to exist in the past. Raikou, Suicune and Entei were born after the Burned Tower incident about 150 years ago thanks to Ho-oh bringing them back to life in their new form, they couldn't have ever existed in ancient times.

And with that I rest my case, Your Honor.

It's very obvious that the DLC is going to be very story driven and I'm very excited to see how things will turn out (while on the other hand they could have said something more now instead of finishing the main story in a DLC but welp, they gotta convince you to buy it somehow)

Cute HPHM headcanons

Everyone loves Barnaby’s hugs, they are almost therapeutic. His body heat is always high and he lets his friends lean on him during the winter.

Badeea croons in a super cute voice while she paints

Jae’s sneakers are full of sketches, small drawings, signatures and nice words from his friends

Talbott is a total shit with people his age, but around adults he’s really polite. The elder women often tell him that he is a charming young man.

Liz’s eyes light up when she talks about magical creatures, plus she starts doing little cute bounces.

André smells incredibly good, like a mix of fresh laundry and fancy cologne. Everyone wants to sit next to him in class.

Charlie can carry any of his friends in his arms without difficulty, and he oftens lift people up when he hugs them.

Fem Rowan has the cutest laugh ever. Everybody always starts laughing with her when she does so.

Male Rowan always has his tie tied badly. That gives him a goofy but really tender touch

Ben’s hair is the softest thing in this world. He let you touch it if you ask nicely.

Merula sneezes like a kitten.

When Ismelda blushes, the blush reaches to the tips of her ears

Penny’s hair shines like gold in the sun

Beatrice has plump, cubby, blushed cheeks. Like a baby.

Bill is so skinny that if you hug him, you can wrap your arms around his body twice.

Chiara is very good with children. She could play with them all day.

if Tulip spends a lot of time in the sun, her cheeks and the bridge of her nose get freckled

my dedo passed away on monday morning. it was thankfully quick after all the suffering he endured, and he got his wish of passing at home with his family with him. he got to see all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren (one for the first time), in the days leading up to his passing. he's with my baba now, both at rest.

for the past few days and in days coming, i have and will continue to help my mum with whatever she needs from me, mostly emotional support and house cleaning rn. lots of old possessions to sort through. i've got more stuff to post, but it will wait for a time where i feel it's appropriate. thanks for reading xx.
