let's be real here, if rafael were a girl, the entire fandom would be applauding "her" for choosing herself first.

I mean, listen, I hate to say this but you’re kinda right. And that hypothetical woman should get support, too. Like boy, is this situation messed up. But I cannot find a single bone in my body that would fault Rafael for wanting to remove himself from a painful situation. For not wanting to live through that heartache again. I know that Jane doesn’t mean to hurt him. And lord knows that my girl is going through so much, too, and it’s all very painful. But to fault Rafael for not wanting to be in a situation that he’s already been through, for not wanting to live through that again, for not wanting to live through the fear and anxiety of losing Jane again is really not possible to me. It hurts, I know, but how can I fault Rafael for having enough of pain?

Michael never NEVER respected Jane&Rafael relationship.

The amount of vitriol the Villadero fans throw at Rafael is just… unsettling. We get it. You want Jane to end up with Michael. Maybe try not villainising Rafael in the process?

Raf has lived through this once already. He went through hell, and almost lost himself watching Jane pick Michael. You don’t get to make him into the Bad Guy for putting his wellbeing first. He has been through enough pain to know that boundaries are important. Boundaries help you maintain your mental stability and not go off the rails when it seems like the easy way out. He knows he’s not alone anymore; he has three wonderful children that need him, and definitely can’t afford to lose himself once again.

You don’t get to paint him as the bad boyfriend that constantly pressures Jane unlike Saint Michael that ~lets her go~. Being rejected by the same person time and time again is bound to create insecurity. Rafael was wrecked the moment he learnt Michael is still alive precisely because he could see all this happening yet again; and it did.

That doesn’t unmake the incredible friend and dedicated partner he’s been to Jane. He was always there to hold her up, every minute along the way. He let her go and was happy for her when she got married, because he knew she was happy with Michael. He was her greatest support after Michael’s death, with no ulterior motives, other than genuine care and love, without any erotic context. And after he fell in love with her all over again and was ready to build a life with her, he put any personal feelings aside and let her know her husband was alive, while knowing it would probably cost him the love of his life once again.

No matter who Jane ends up with, Rafael Solano is a character that has undergone incredible personal growth and developed into an incredible man that would sacrifice himself in an instant for those he loves, and he deserves to be happy.
