I'm surprised that there are people who still take any of the hetalia wikis seriously. They're all so crappy and outdated, I'd rather comb through hetarchive and hetalia tvtrope pages to get information

literally nobody is saying characters like liechtenstein have been alive for only 16 years or something else stupid like that, so idk why you guys are being like "physical age not how many years they literally have been alive for!!!" isnt physical age a given in this conversation??? they are immortal. theyve all been alive longer than their physical appearance would suggest

but they DO have physical/mental ages that they are designed to look and act like, and i think we all know this. himaruya saying a character looks an age is him saying he designed them to look and act about that age.

physically, liechtenstein IS a child/teenager canonically. like the other anon said, switzerland's physical age is 18 and she is PHYSICALLY YOUNGER than him, not the same age as him.

also who would take iceland whining about being called young (something he does constantly because he doesnt like being babied) as proof that he isnt a child??? himaruya specifically said he was designed to look 16-17. literally every teenager says "im grown up!!" lol. and because he's physically 16-17, he's younger than hungary. because she is physically in her 20s (something else himaruya has directly said)

mad weird to keep insisting she must be an adult in canon and that people are weird and sexist for saying she's a teenager/child when she literally canonically is one. you can headcanon whatever you want but that doesn't change what is literally canon and what is canon is that liechtenstein is physically a child and every single character around her AND the creator of the series treats her as such.

it is not sexist in the slightest for people to state a canonical fact about the series, that liechtenstein was designed to be physically look like child. yes people absolutely should not infantilize her or any other characters, and this is a huge problem in the fandom. but the canonical fact that she is not an adult is not infantilization. genuinely have never met a SINGLE person who has ever said they think liechtenstein is a kid just because of her appearance or her personality.

also saying "Hima saying a chara "looks __ age" doesn't mean they literally are that age" even though nobody ever said they think liechtenstein has literally only existed for 16 years or something is giving "yeah she looks like a 12 year old but she's actually 4000!!" be so fr right now

they are immortal countries it's never stated she's a kid 💀 she's not actual related to Switzerland they could damn well be the same bodily age for all we know and Hungary doesn't call them kids she says younger ones as in younger than her (and iceland literally says he's not included???? The only one who could be perceived as considerably younger than Hungary there is hk...)

Again in my opinion it's just misogyny and people do it to Seychelles and Taiwan too. It's so excuse to infantalize and ignore them and treat them with no agency whatsoever

Liechtenstein is not a child.

The reasons people assume she is almost always come down to treating femininity as inherently immature or weak. Assuming a feminine character is a child because she’s girly and modest and short is 100% just sexism. Arguing that she looks like a child, when almost all Hetalia characters have same-face syndrome and when she doesn't share features with characters who are actually children,(example, her very large eyes) is just your subconscious association of her dominant traits with being '"childish"

This fandom has a serious problem with infantilizing her for no reason other than the fact that she's someone's younger sister and isn't loud, sexualized or commanding. It says a lot to me that being quiet, polite, and traditionally feminine is all it takes for people to decide she must be a child.
