Colour Pallette!
Here is my colour pallete that I used for my character in which I chose to go for similar colours whilst overall just showcasing what colours I used for my character as a whole such as skin colours and experimenting with different ones as well as colours from the sword and the main body of the character.
I do feel like most of this colour pallete has worked really well for my character but I do want to ensure that I get feedback on this colour pallete to see what others think about my colour choices as well as how well I've executed these colours within my character.

Haori/Kimono Outfit Overall Design And 1ST Outcome!
Without the Katana and Shoes!
With Katana and Shoes!
First Outcome!
Here is my design for my Haori/Kimono in which I used a wide range of colours and blending of some colours to make my first design of this Samurai character.
This took me about 3 weeks to finish aside from the head of the character which I will design once I have gotten feedback for where my character is currently at as well as refining the final outcome of my character by probably changing the colour Red to another colour as well as the hilt/guard of the sword so that it not only fits in with the design more and gives off emotions and the overall feel of the character more consistently.
I will also probably lesson the thickness of the sleeves as well as the lower half of the Haori/Kimono so that where I have my light source for my character it will blend and shade much better and look more realistic.

First Katana Design With The First Selection Of Colours!
I also found this Katana design on Sketchfab which I really liked the look of and thought that this would be a good reference to use for my sword design. While making my sword design I tried to use a blend of different colours like a nice and vibrant Bluey Green as well as a Dark Green for the Sheath/Scabbard which I thought would make the sword stand out more which is what I wanted.
I also wanted the sword to look like it had more of a glow while blending similar colours with the sword to keep the design consistent and show more emotion towards the viewer.
However, I do feel as though the Red and the lighter Green don't really fit in with the overall sword design in my opinion as I think that it lessens the overall vibe of the sword as well as making the hilt look more dull and less recognizable for the actual sword itself.
Due to this I think I want to change this later on as well as anything else for my character design that I feel doesn't fit in and isn't how I actually ant it too look and feel.

Haori/Kimono Outfit Outline!
For this outline that I made I decided to take the image that I found on Sketchfab and imagine how I wanted my outfit to look on the character whilst making sure that the outline wasn't too thin or too thick as I wanted the sleeves specifically to look more bulky and wider.
I thoroughly enjoyed designing this Haori/Kimono outfit for my Samurai and I now want to make sure that I get some feedback on this outline and the whole outfit as a whole once it is finished so that I can expand further on the overall design and the colour pallete choices.

Samurai Shoes! (Geta Sandles.)
For these shoes/geta sandles I have chosen to just take 1 of them that is within the image as I struggled to try and manipulate the other shoe exactly how I wanted it so I've decided to just design the other shoe myself and see how it turns out.
The other shoe that I made doesn't look as polished as the first one so I might try and design it a bit better to look more like the other shoe while also gathering feedback on how the shoes look and whether they actually represent the Samurai character that I'm going for or not.
I then also changed how the first shoe originally looked by recreating the strap which is called ''Hanao'' to fit the style and position of the character better as I have decided to just draw most of the design rather than photobashing many images together as I found actually drawing the character easier and much less time consuming.

Putting My Character Into Photoshop
Here is me putting my pose inside of Photoshop in which I have chosen to not put it in fullscreen as I want to manipulate the image at an angle that I think best fits the pose so that my character is portrayed from a front side perspective.
Here I chose to actually remove the background from the inital image as this was getting in the way of turning this into how I want my samurai to look whilst removing this background allows me to not only Photobash images better but also allows me to experiment with the colours and overall design more.

Research! (Samurai Shoes!)
youtube
I looked at this video about Samurai flip-flops or what is also known as 'Geta Sandles' for my character whilst also looking at the history of how they came into society today. I was very intrigued by these shoes as they will not only fit my character perfectly but will showcase the calmer narrative towards how the character is portrayed and is linked to the Japanese culture while allowing me to experiment with how to photobash together a pair of shoes with my character.

Selection Of Reference Images For Body Parts Of My Character!
Geta Sandals- Type Of Japanese Shoe!
Japanese Haori/Kimono!
Sketchfab - The best 3D viewer on the web
Sketchfab 3D model!
Here is a nice Japanese Kimono/Haori that I found on Sketchfab with help from one of my staff members Sam allowing me to find the right angle that I want to have for my own design of the main body clothing that will be on the front of my character pose.
Here is a katana that I found on Sketchfab in which I wanted to use for trying to create my own katana but instead I found this nice blue purple and red katana that I thought looked like it would fit my character better so I chose to go with that one instead.
With this other katana I want to use a similar colour pallete to create my own pallete in which it shows the theme of my character as a Samurai and showcases the colours in a vibrant and fierce character that is a warrior at heart.

Photobashing!
What Is Photo-bashing!
What is Photobashing? (With Free Beginner Tutorials)
youtube
Photobashing is a technique in which artists will take a collection of photos and will merge/combine them together to make a new piece of artwork that helps spread workflow as well as balancing between a realistic style of art as well as achieving a quick outcome that can be changed and refined to a more complex level.
Many concept artists will use photo-bashing to actually get an art piece out there so that it can gain the most feedback quickly and helps them to perhaps render something or designing/visualizing a background or objects that are quick and simple to do.
I am looking into this subject to actually use for my artwork and drawing designs for my Samurai character where I will take some reference images for different body parts and then take those specific clothing and equipment to then manipulate inside of Photoshop itself.
Through a selection of different images I can then take the chosen pose for my character and start combining together and collaging those images and turn it into my own design for my character and adapting using the pose template.

My Poses And Deciding Which One I Will Pick To Actually Use!
Pose 1.
Pose 2.
Pose 3.
Pose 4.
In my personal opinion I believe that Pose 1 and 2 have the best angles for showing the character in a fighting state while I also believe that either one of these two angles would give me the best opportunity to show off my clothing and overall character design towards the viewer that can give the most amount as well as the most accurate feedback that I can use to take the designs further.
I do think that I could also ask others around me to see what pose they like the most through either a pole or a form that gives me what is most common between a wide range of people whilst allowing me to explore why they like the pose that they chose and what they would like to see from a Samurai character design itself that what show off the best visual aspects of the character as a whole.

Posing!
PoseMy.Art | Free tool to create reference poses with 3D models.
One of my staff members Ollie showed me this great website and tool for finding some good poses to have a look at for designing how I want to picture the character whilst learning how the tool itself works and finding out what angle I want to have the character inside of Photoshop.
I then searched up a Samurai specific style of pose within the tool and found many interesting poses that I can then take further by adding different materials and clothes to then make into my own unique design that enhances the use of these technologies.
Here is what the pose looks like from a side on perspective using the tool which is a great starter to begin with while showcasing how to move the character and different objects within the pose to best suit your ideas and goals.
What I have chosen to do is adjust the character and the sword into a more ready like state as though the character is more prepared for a fight and making sure that it looks much more engaging towards inviting whoever looks at the design so that they understand and get the feeling of the transparency between the character and the scene overall.
I adjusted things such as the Arm, Elbow and Shoulder to push the character further back more as well as repositioning the Sword and angling it more upright to show a better character stance for designing.

Referencing Images And Tracing The Character!
This was the image that inspired my design ideas for how I would want to make my character while I decided to have a go at drawing an outline as well as some of the key features for the character itself.
This was as far as I got when practicing and I do feel as though this has helped me to picture how I want my character to look lime as well as the posing for the character. However this is from an image that I found on the internet so I must make sure that I don't just copy straight from the image and instead come up with an ideal pose and go from there.

Hat Design Practice!
Here is my finished hat design for my Samurai character in which I decided to go with a pattern that caught my attention through an image I saw online. I am really happy with this design so far and I can't wait to get feedback on the design and see how I can improve this even further.

Experimentational Development!
Eyes!
For these eyes I have just for now started to experiment and get used to using a drawing tablet whilst starting to get some ideas for if I'm going to have eyes or not for my character. These eyes I have made using my imagination as well as practicing at home drawing faces and other characters, but I do think that I would prefer to have no eyes for my character and just have the eyes hidden to emphasize a hidden identity as well as the overall nature of a Samurais character.
Samurai Hat (Kasa meaning hat or Roningasa which is made out of shaven bamboo or wood.)
Here is an outline for a Samurai hat that would be on the head of the character while hiding the face as I want to keep the identity hidden to showcase the culture of Samurais as well as showing how Samurais want to travel undistracted and to avoid being recognized.
