THE FACTS ABOUT XBOX ONE
We told you a couple of weeks ago that we would be sticking to the facts on our next-gen console coverage and limit all the conjecture. Since Microsoft just published an extensive FAQ about the Xbox One, I’m finally able to share with you facts that we now know for sure:
Xbox One performs updates while in “sleep” mode
You can access your games on any Xbox One
Log into any Xbox One system and gain access to your digital library. This includes downloaded and retail games you buy because all games require install which then is synced in the Cloud.
All games available as digital download or retail disc on same day
Built in 802.11n wireless and gigabit ethernet
Recommend a broadband connection of 1.5Mbps or connect through mobile broadband
You must connect Xbox One to the internet once every 24 hours
Up to 10 family members can access your library anytime, anywhere
Family members have access to your shared library. They can go to a friend’s house and play games in your shared library while you are gaming at your own house.
You can trade-in and re-sell disc based games
Microsoft won’t charge anyone for trading in or selling their games. Publishers, however, have the ability to charge you for doing so.
Loaning or renting games won’t be available at launch
Users control what Kinect sees and hears
During setup, users personalize privacy settings and how intuitive they want Kinect to be.
Don’t want to use Kinect? You can turn it off
You control all of your personal data and what information that Kinect is allowed to share
Controller has impulse triggers that vibrate
As you pull the trigger to speed up in a racing game, for example, you can feel the increase in the speed as the vibration speeds up.
Higher quality headset audio for clearer communication
Controller thumbsticks have grips on them and require less force to move.
New, more responsive D-Pad on controller
A, B, X, and Y buttons on controller are lower on controller for better accessibility
E3 is just days away so look for more information about Xbox One to be revealed there. If you want more details about the Xbox One, read the FAQ from Microsoft.
