‘We want different things.’ The words came out shaken, each syllable less and less sure as it passed her lips. Selene knew what it was to love someone who wasn’t good for you, knew what it was to break for it. They were destroying each other from the inside out and they were both holding on because despite the trauma, the hurt… the love was still there. Reaching up, she wrapped her fingers around his wrists and pulled his hands away from her face, holding them steady before her as she leaned in and kissed them. ‘I know how this ends…’

‘You don’t. You think you do but you don’t.’ James let her move her hand but he didn’t break eye contact, knowing that the moment he looked away she would take that second and run. That was the last thing he wanted. When her hand fell with his to their side, James curled his fingers around hers and held on. ‘Selene, it’s time to let go of all the shit. You must be as tired of all the shit as I am? Stay. Stay with me, we can work this out and be better for it. I promise you.’ Leaning down he kissed her lips, hoping to delay the moment she turned around and walked away. ‘I need you.’

James smiled to himself and he slowly moved to hold her hand, his fingers running along hers before holding them soundly. ‘Is it such a bad thing to not be over it? To feel it?’

“hey… you were supposed to help me with the dishes. the dinner is almost ready.” soft cheeks all filled with crimson as she squeezed her way out, softly rubbing against his chest. the young girl could feel her heart beating too fast for her own good. chocolate stare dropped downward. too ashamed of being caught red-handed for the crime of desire. he was a forbidden fruit and layla knew too well that once the bite would’ve been taken… there was no coming back. however, his scent was viciously pleasant and so she took a deep breath to fantasise for a litte longer.

As Layla moved away from him, James laugh to cover up the quiet sigh in his voice. They had been dancing around each other for months now and he could feel they were playing with fire now. ‘Am I not helping?’ Moving away, he headed to pick up the cutlery but he got distracted as he watched her move away across the room. Even at a distance he could see the different way she held herself with the same thoughts that ran through his mind. Biting his lip pensively, his fingers wrapped around the cutlery and he moved over close again, this time not making enough room for her to immediately move. ‘You drive me crazy, you know that?’
