how to befriend a knight

step one: don't let the knight kill you please. i cannot express how important it is to not let your knight kill you. most attempts at befriending a knight fail here! you can let him hurt you a little to spare his ego but please don't let him kill you.

step two: make the knight feel comfortable with gifts of food. knights prefer small nuts and berries laid out in a suspicious trail. it's enrichment!

step three: once the knight has stopped trying to kill you (see step one) let him tell you about his all-consuming guilt complex. he might talk for a while, and don't worry, the haunted look in his eyes is completely normal.

step four: provide your knight a warm place to sleep. knights are cautious creatures so this may take a while, but once he crosses your threshold and sleeps by the fire he will be instinctively compelled to swear an oath of loyalty.

step five: congratulations, you've now befriended a knight! if you did this on accident well there's no going back i'm afraid. knights bond for life, didn't you know that?
