     She laughs a little at his question – he always seems so taken aback when she showers him with her affections, and it only makes her want to love him more. She wonders how much she needs to tell him her feelings, grasp his hands, throw her arms about him – before he’ll realise that she’s serious, that she needs no reason other than her love for him.

     ‘ No reason, ’ she muses, her expression soft, her gaze cherishing. ‘ – do I need one to tell you that I have feelings for you? I want to tell you every day … ’ She squeezes his hand. ‘ Maybe even more often than that. ’ 

              And he laughs with her a gentle beating in his heart. He's not used to it, such softeness and warmth in someone. He's always had such coldness in his life. It's foreign, she's foreign. But he wants to collide with that warmth.

              His heart is thumping against his chest and the only thing his body knows to do is to look away. But his heart doesn't, he keeps green eyes on her beautiful ones.

              " I want to tell it to you too. " he squeezes back and leans in, " I'm sorry I shouldn't be acting so surprised anymore. You're just --- " warm, everything he's ever needed, a light in all this war and all the death he's caused, everything.

              " Stunning me is all . "

               “Hmm. Of course she did.”  It’s like water off a ducks back: if he even notices the sour mood that hangs over the other ( and he most certainly does ), he doesn’t let it show at all. Lying is a craft he’s practically mastered at this point. He can bounce between the roles of exhausted student council vice president and leader of an uprising with ease  —  whatever cracks Suzaku is looking for, he won’t find them, not now.

               Deep down, he thinks it almost funny how he looks at him as if he’s the one who’s betrayed him, though. What a joke. He supposes, in the end, there are some people who will always be idiots at their core. It’s something they won’t grow out of.

               “I’m going to assume she didn’t even tell you what she had in mind and just threw it on you without any suggestions at all. That would be par for the course. I can handle it if you have to leave, but if you could at least compile some… ideas for what we could order, that’d be helpful.”  He smiles, feigning exhaustion more on par with an overworked student than anything else.  “Nothing too dangerous, I hope. Rolo will get worried.”

              He wonders if its thoughts of Lamperouge trailing through his mind or Vi Britannia. Whatever it is the facial structure of Lelocuh doesn't show anything, it's too good almost too damn good. It makes sense that a liar would have been a master at his craft.

              " Well you know how she is. Always full of energy, always ready to tell other people what to do. She really is something huh? "

              The smile almost makes his heart scream. Like Lelouch is toying with him. Another pawn in his damn game, his damn game that gets so many killed. And for a brief second he thinks he is no different, he whose pulled the trigger on one too many more than he wanted to.

              " Really ? Ah he must get that from you Lelouch. You really are a good brother to him. To Rolo. " he lets some small smile come to his face following suit to Lelouch's own. His cold eyes give the apperance of a exhuasted smile, and one has to wonder where the color went. " I don't want to leave you all alone to handle this. I know you're vice president. But we're friends still. If we worked together I'm sure we can get something good out of it."

              He pauses. A ponder. He's thinking of something, but he's looking again for any damn sign.

              " What if we went with --- something different? Seafood? "

              " Lelouch. " saying his name felt like blasphemy and betrayal all at once. Like someone leaving stab wounds all over his tounge. His gaze reads hard when its supposed to read friend. This is what the means that he spoke highly of lead up to, a judas amongst friends.

              " Milly put us in charge of handling food for the festival so we have to order and decide everything. But, I don't know how long I can stay. I might be called away soon. Me and the other Knights. "

              She says it so much its almost like second nature. Statements of her adoration and he's completly enamored when she does. He takes her hand in his own, the seperation of personal space as he smiles.

              " I love you too Euphy, but what --- what brought this on? "

              And he's all smiles when she catches his face in her hands. Clearly in an attempt to bring him back to reality after he disconnected from it. It's not from a lack of interest no, it's just his mind is so preoccupied with other things. They shouldn't be, and he feels awful they they have taken him from her.

              " Sorry. Sorry. It's not much of an excuse but I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. "

‘ Suzaku, I heard today was something called 'Boyfriend Day.' Did you want anything special? ’

              " B-Boyfriend!? " he's stunned at first, it's such a in-formal title but it makes sense right? Confessions of love would lead to this. To being this close. A soft red hue comes to his cheeks and a warm smile matches hers as she takes his hands. She is so soft. Insanely soft, and the difference between her hands and his own is almost night and day. Her hands are soft because she is lovely because she is pure, his hands scarred from battle after battle, because he is a monster. Trying to redeem.

              " Ah well! I guess since you're taking the day off I have to too right? Then we should --- " he lets his mind muse and muller as his thumb traces over her own. Smile mirroring her own, it was easy to mirror her smile because it felt so true.

              " We could just do something simple? Go somewhere, watch a movie, read together? As long as we're together Euphy. "
