#listen. okay gather round#if cas’ vessel was a woman Dean would try way too hard to get with her immediately#cas would be unused to this kind of feeling and be freaked out by it and possibly even be driven further back to his role in heaven by it#I dare say that it’s deans obvious interest yet lack of pressure that allows cas to accept these new feelings of friendship and love#cas historically is a being that needs space to figure out what he’s going through#and if Dean had been outright flirting with him and trying to get in his pants the way he does with other spn women it would’ve ruined the#dynamic#and it wouldn’t have felt as natural and real in terms of building a relationship#Lisa is actually a great character and I loved her but her romance with Dean was so sudden and pushed out of nowhere#and I fear their relationship would’ve gotten the same treatment had cas been a woman also#not to mention that while I do think Dean is attracted to women it’s proven over and over that he connects emotionally more with men#all of his strongest relationships are with other men#(I say this only in the romance sense bc he DOES have good relationships with like. Jo and Charlie. but he sees them as sisters lmfao)#while I would argue that we see Sam have some genuinely good relationships with women that do feel real#all this to say: Dean might be physically into Cas if he’d been a woman but I don’t think they would’ve emotionally connected the same and#it would’ve been a huge loss

dean deeply loved cas is the thing. it’s so painfully deep he had to create a specific system to navigate that love because it was so enormous for him to even process and carry it and he knew if he did too much he would lose cas and it’ll devastate him in a way that he won’t be able to come back from and then he did and it didn’t matter he kept finding out and his love bled out so much everyone in the universe knew his weakness . well. except cas.

i like to picture tumblr as one big table.. i sit next to, or at least in the vicinity of, my people who are either chatting or writing or making things by the table, maybe everything at once. and we pass around images we like. and pieces of writing. sometimes we just sit quiet and listen, sometimes we move seats. sometimes we have unrelated breakdowns right then and there. sometimes we crack inappropriate jokes or stop everything we're doing because big news dropped and everyone's talking about them. sometimes the table is all decorated because it's a day of celebration.
every morning feels like this, like i'm coming down the stairs to sit at the table with you guys and see what you're up to and sometimes i leave the table for a while but at the end of the day no other place online feels quite like this so i am very fond of my table. #mytable
