Same anon from the first girin ask here (sorry I was lurking the salt blog lol), but it was fascinating reading about the nuances of this topic and I wish I knew more about it. I'm too scared of the fr fanbase to go off anon, but I just wanted to thank you and say you discussed this topic very eloquently and I wish I could pick your brain on it.
lol thank you; you also are free to dm me; I won't reveal you, and you can pick my brain.

if you've been hearing less about gaza lately, it's because most of the journalists are dead. hassan eslayeh, who was murdered yesterday in his hospital bed by israel, had 351 videos archived on tiktokgenocide.com (an online archive of israeli atrocities i recommend you browse). this single journalist alone had contributed 351 videos. the same database lists that 252 journalists have been killed in gaza since october 7th. the cpj's archive of journalists killed is 178. they have a more conservative and less accurate estimate since they have less information on those media workers who work with local outlets.
regardless of the exact number, the number of journalists killed is so high that it is markedly affecting the footage and documentation we have coming out of gaza now. let me prove it to you: 70 people were killed today, May 14th 2025. did you know that?

Hi, I didn't want to put my main on blast so I hope you don't mind the msg, but I saw your post/comments on the fr girin issue and I just wanted to say as a fellow chinese-american you really put it perfectly on how I felt about it. I still love the cirrus and will get a bunch of them, but I can't help but feel disappointed staff kinda ignored the chinese origins of the qilin, despite being the most common source when you look it up online.
thanks so much for this ask. it can feel a bit isolating complaining about issues of representation/cultural sensitvity when it comes to Chinese stuff / especially when there is overlap with other Asian diaspora concerns, so it's nice to feel like I'm not just a Single Rogue Chinese person complaining about it. I also just don't get the dogpiling and need to shoot down people over a sensitive issue; especially because I've seen white people condescend and laugh at Asians commenting on it

Tech billionaires are even gambling the planet on the imminent arrival of AGI. Eric Schmidt, the billionaire venture capitalist and former CEO of Google, claims that pursuing AGI is the best path forward to solve the climate crisis, despite the enormous carbon footprint of AI data centers, because of his certainty that AGI will fix the problem for us after its imminent arrival. Sam Altman agrees, and he’s even explained how he thinks that would work. “I think once we have a really powerful super-intelligence, addressing climate change will not be particularly difficult for a system like that,” he says. “If you think about a system where you can say, ‘Tell me how to make a lot of clean energy cheaply,’ ‘Tell me how to efficiently capture carbon,’ and then ‘Tell me how to build a factory to do this at planetary scale’ – if you can do that, you can do a lot of other things too.”
I don't like that our society is run by the stupidest grifters on the planet. It could be just me but I personally don't like it

Do keep in mind under Biden the crackdown on pro-Palestine politics on college campuses was happening as well; Democrats aren't staunchly opposed to it, just pretending for their base, hence a "strongly worded letter" that will do nothing

In a corner of Gaza, my family and I are drowning in destruction, with the echoes of suffering surrounding us. I sat beside my modest tent, hastily erected after losing my home in the latest bombing. The faces of my family tell stories of patience and resilience, with lines of time etched upon them, as if they were records of unforgettable events. 🇵🇸⏳🍉
I once lived in a small home, filled with the laughter and voices of my children. Today, I have become a witness to the agony of displacement. The bombing forced me to flee with my children after a shell struck our home, leaving behind years of memories and simple belongings I never imagined would become unreachable. 🏚️💨
Every morning, I leave my tent and go to work, using a clay oven to provide food for my children. Meanwhile, my youngest son heads to the charity kitchens that offer aid, waiting for long hours under Gaza’s scorching sun. Despite the exhaustion that weighs down his frail body, he carries the food mixed with his tears and returns with a fake smile, hiding behind it the burdens of his struggles. 🍞🥀
At night, when everyone else is asleep, I remain seated at the entrance of my tent, gazing at the dark sky, reminiscing about days gone by… about my home that was once filled with warmth. Yet, I still find remnants of hope in my heart—a hope that one day peace will return, and my children and I will live in a new home, filled with joy. 🌙🏡✨
In moments of solitude, I find peace in prayer and supplication. I plead to God to protect Gaza and its people, to wipe away the dust of sorrow from our hearts. I always repeat🇵🇸🍉🌿
"We are here to remind the world that we are stronger than war, and we will rebuild our lives anew, no matter the cost!" 🙏

The way the world treats us, the way we've been punished in every possible way since the beginning of our lives, and now they move us around like chess pieces. They wanted us there, then they wanted us to leave, then to stay, as if we have no will of our own. Can you imagine what that does to us, as the people of Gaza? As if we're not human beings. Some people romanticize our suffering, turning us into symbols or superheroes, while others see us as nothing, as objects to be moved from place to place. Can you imagine the impact of this on those who have physically survived this genocide? How we see ourselves?
How we see the way the world sees us? We are treated as everything except human beings.
My family are living now on the rubble of our destroyed house since they returned to northern Gaza without the minimum necessities of life, with no shelter or tent, without food or water! They just light a fire and gather around it to keep warm. Please don’t leave us alone with this suffering. This is not a human life and everyone has abandoned us and the people.

Re: "Murdering" the innies
I fear I've become too culturally reconnected to understand how most of you watch severance. I don't understand how the majority of the fandom doesn't see Severance as something that must end in reintegration. For me, the fact that the show is using Buddhist terms indicates some acknowledgement of rebirth and reincarnation. In Daoism, immortals go to experience mortal hardships without their memories and return to being immortals after "dying" or passing their trials having profoundly changed. The mortal self is not truly dead but has become a part of the immortal's personality which is fundamentally different now. in this view, reintegration is not a true "death." This question of how your reincarnation changes and becomes you (e.g severance and reintegration) has been explored before and explored well in Chinese dramas like Ashes of Love, Love and Redemption, Immortal Samsara, Eternal Love, and many more
Also it's my personal opinion Mark Scout did nothing wrong; he just doesn't understand Mark S. who is like a teenager and isn't as mature — Reghabi even emphasized that his innie is like a baby. All the sinister stuff about the innies dying or Mark Scout being a murderer just feels so completely removed from my cultural context and how I view stories, just morally and emotionally. I also truly believe Mark S. is likely a lot like how Mark Scout was before he grew older and more traumatized and less eager to please everyone. To me, it feels so obvious they are not separate people but two versions of the same person. and I can't get on board with "autonomy" for the innies movement when that actually just means "I think they should be able to steal back the outies' bodies'" as like revenge or something or they should just be severed forever.
Also it's insane that Mark Scout didn't counter Mark S.'s allegation that he'd just become him and essentially die, when Petey after reintegrating was clearly incredibly driven by his life as an innie and sought out his former best friend (who didn't even remember him) as he was dying. I feel like treating reintegration as some immoral "kill" switch of the innies is just further disrespectful of this poor character the show and fans seem to have forgotten. I guess it had to be left out for the #drama since it's the humanizing and moral connection Mark Scout has to reintegration as not being murder and a bridge to a person Mark S. allegedly cares about.

having to see the racist craziness to justify markhelly makes me feel insane. i saw someone on twitter say they hope gemma is their nanny if she can't get over mark. like not only to be cruel to her about infertility but also put her in a servile role as a woman of color? i'm sorry i want your white ship to die just out of spite i really don't care any more it's stupid and juvenile and makes me feel like i'm going insane that you all think it's cute
