Alright guys, hear me out

So a few years ago someone mentioned this on Instagram in the comment section saying that the reason why Kaito and Shinichi look alike is because Gosho did it so that his old character (Kaito) wouldn't be forgotten, so he made Shinichi look like Kaito.

I actually don't understand why Gosho suddenly made them cousins at the end, why does he always end things with related things? It also doesn't make sense if you never introduce to your child that he has a cousin and keep it a secret for years (different story with Shiho and her cousin, I can understand because of their work).
