It's evenings like this that keep me here. The peppers singing, the whippoorwill crying, the breeze full of lilac and spring. Then I get to walk up the road and say goodnight to the sun. This is home and always will be.

Dandelion has become one of my favorite wildflowers. I actually love the smell which is surprising because my grandmother absolutely hated it lol. The leaves are delicious when cooked in bacon grease. It's also medicine! Plus it can be made into wine and who doesn't like wine? The deep Roots help draw nutrients from within the soil to the surface and also help break up hard clay soil like mine. They are also one of the earliest food sources for bees and you all know that we need to help our bees. So just leave them alone for a little and let them work their magic!

Today was so nice I got into the garage to work on some of my projects. Going through a box of stuff I found this little candle. I don't even remember where it may have come from but it feels like the perfect addition to my altar!

Woke up starving so decided to make a snake. Hot Ham and Swiss on a Pretzel roll. So good, exactly what I was craving. Now to try to get a little bit more shut eye.

Happy Spring Equinox and a Blessed Ostara to those who celebrate! We are so excited for spring and to get busy with the hundreds of projects we have planned. Hopefully this leads to more activity on this blog. I miss y'all!

Thinking about - THEM - (redbud trees). This is my biggest, most-effort plein air piece; it took me three painting sessions and I had very good luck in getting the same weather/light all three days. I sat on the ground to paint, looking out over the toes of my boots in the grass, and a black snake showed up to see what I was doing. He watched for a while, then left. 13x26 inches on plywood panel.
artist's recreation:
[ID: painting of a large, wide-spread Appalachian landscape in early spring, with pink trees scattered throughout the forest and the edges of the farm fields. There is a small, cartoonish black snake badly photoshopped into the foreground, with ?! written over his head.]
@kochlandhomestead Hang in there . . it'll be here soon!

I want to go work outside so bad. It's time for spring darn it. I know, I know. Two months from now I'll look back on these restful days and miss them. But right now? Now I want to get back at it!

59 years these two crazy kids have been married. An almost unbelievable number these days when everyone wants to give up when things get tough. Through the good times and the bad, day in and day out. They drive me nuts but I wouldn't be who I am without them and their guidance. Happy Anniversary Momma and Daddy, I love ya more than I can express. ♥️
