"M.M.....Pay? Foolish even to think of." Shaking his head and moving past the subject of who may or may not cook there was a more important question weighing on the boys mind. Chikusa had a difficult time trusting the scientist and while he would never go against Mukuro-samma's will he was wary none the less...it had been his policy since their childhood tragedy not to trust their kind.
Tumblr media
"Your intentions...am I really to believe they are purely to research Mukuro-samma's illusions with this battle...and defeat the Arcobaleno Reborn." The sentence was a statement not a question, and it was clear he did not believe that was the case, true or not he did not believe it.
Tumblr media
"….Thank you." Ah yes. That was one down. Now if only the rest of the Kokuyo brats would call him by his name- or at least a respectable title… To be called baby was an insult. “Well, I did wonder, but I assumed one of you knew how to cook an actual meal. That, or the food was stolen. Even less likely would be the odds of M.M. paying for everyone’s meals, considering she has money to spare.
"Admittedly, it is a relief to hear that one of you cooks."

Chikusa remains quiet entering in the forest, he has much on his mind and is fighting to ignore it. He frequently does this, tries to understand exactly what their leader is thinking...just as frequently he fails. While he can pick up on some things most of Mukuro's reasons remain shrouded and difficult to determine.
The forest is still nothing moves or reacts to the two humans intruding its space. Chikusa pauses a moment closing his eyes trying to recall the location of the plant he had seen. Opening them upon remembering he proceeds deeper in the forest approaching a large dead tree with bizarre leaves surrounding its roots.
Tumblr media
"These. They killed this tree." There are only a few of the plants at the base, yet the massive ancient tree has been completely killed and is now dark and rotting. Reaching in his bag Chikusa removes a pair of gloves and a bag, while he is not sure how the toxin works, he will take no risks.

Now that’s more like it. Mukuro nods, mentally thanking the stars that he’s come to have a rather competent follower. He nods toward the forest around and says, “Go ahead and lead the way then.”
Tumblr media
Of course he noticed Chikusa shaking his head. The guy doesn’t express much emotion, but Mukuro doubts it’s because he was falling asleep. It makes him vaguely curious—he should keep these guys happy, in a way, so there’s no risk of having them ever think of leaving.

Chikusa groaned at the preposterous waste of his breath, the wolf continued to diverge in his self pity party. He went around mourning his suffering as though the only proper way to respond to it was to torment himself and harm himself. A feeling cracked through his darkened numb shell, the gorgon had fought his whole life to be just that a shell a dark empty shell, however, people like Dino continued to appear stirring warmth and feelings of companionship. Chikusa would never understand why he insisted on getting himself involved with idiots. It was likely because Idiots were the only kind that would spend their breath or time on someone as cold and empty seeming as him.
Yet, this one acted as though he could see strait through the gorgon, like he could see things the gorgon couldn't see about himself, and then after doing something as intelligent and perceptive as that he would retreat into his moronic pity part. This burning forcing its well beyond Chikusas cold exterior burned it seemed to be something the gorgon had not experienced before, or, at least not in a very long time. Then the gorgon recognized it, rage, it was not a feeling he was well acquainted with or fond of but it was there. The wrath did not come from the wolf turning down his proposition but the things he said. Chikusa was so angry his usual restraint on speaking his mind or using many words simply melted away.
"You are going to listen to me Dino because I am only going to say this once." His voice was clear cut like a blade and the dark anger could be heard bubbling. "How can you expect to accomplish anything to do anything for those you lost or those you try to help now with that attitude?" The gorgon's mamba's began hissing and moving about as he became more engaged. " You tell me to let go of things that aren't my fault and to cease persecuting myself for it. Yet here you are a hypocrite you are FAR more guilty of that crime than I. I have restrained myself thus fare in sheer politeness but I have since stopped caring about proprieties. It's obvious you hold something back some past pain or memory something to do with a loss if your eyes have betrayed you correctly...and here you are acting as though tearing yourself apart for someone's sake will solve ANYTHING. If you want to protect people in honor of those you've lost do it SMART charging off trying to become a martyr is just disgraceful suicide." The gorgon attempted to take a few deep breaths but they wound up shallow and frustrated. "I have never put myself in a position where I felt my life was in danger in all this time I have spent looking after your foolish actions. I judged and thought through every single move I made that's why I survive. You charge off without a decent plan knowing FULL well you will die. Do you think those you lost would approve of your disgraceful performance? Of your Hypocrisy?"
The gorgon turned and strode out of the cave he had taken quite enough of the wolfs repetitive stupid behavior he would cut this off himself for his SANITY'S sake. Weapon's secured one way or another he would end the wolf's idiotic crusade while the rage still fueled him.

Chikusa shook his head at the woman, how preposterous why should someone's real face disturb him, at least they were wearing it. "I am indifferent to the appearance of your countenance." The man then gave a slight nod to a small but sleek black car that pulled up, it was there's sent over by his gang's boss no doubt. "In there if you please."
Approaching one side of the car the bespectacled on entered without a second thought closing the door. leaning back in the seat and waiting for the diva to respond.
Dangerous Melody
The diva laughed quietly. It wasn’t often her normal persona was approved of. “To survive in my line of work, one must have a wide selection of faces and know when to put each one on,” Deja smiled wryly at the tall male. “Now, do you have a secure place to talk about business? I would at least feel more comfortable if we moved away from ere, if that’s alright.”
She was too drained from dealing with so many mafia bosses today that she couldn’t be bothered to resurrect her nicer mask. “I hope my current face doesn’t bother you.”

As well as the box animals were clearly trained this whole charade was just ridiculous. If not humiliating the bespectacled teen was beginning to rethink this entire decision with a groan he gave in watching the spinner behind his shielded eyes. The whole concept of the game just seemed ridiculous to him. He and his....the very concept of the thought made Chikusa freeze. Was it even appropriate to refer to those within his group as friends? Did they consider him a friend? They were comrades yes but anything more...it had always been vague since the three of them had always been together. A small desolate frown appears on his face while thinking of the other two key members of the Kokuyo gang however he quickly shook it off coldness reclaiming his face.
"Left foot green." The stupid game was simple enough easily understood, but pointless just the same. He stretched his foot out placing it on a green circle as far from the rain guardian as he could manage. "You may proceed." Chikusa had no concept of how ridiculous he seemed, playing a game and yet he sounded and acted as though it was a business exchange a formal meeting. The whole situation was foreign to him.

"We are certainly in no position to drag things out...." Chikusa's stomach turned uncomfortably at the thought of returning to that dreaded prison. Yet, more so than that fear he was also plagued by the guilt of his and Ken's last escape from that place. Mukuro-samma never ceased to surprise him, that he could talk so easily about Vindicare considering he'd been the one to pay in their last escape.
Chikusa shook his head ignoring this train of thought. "There is a certain flower in the woods that I could concoct a poison that would kill almost instantaneously...there are other plants in the forest that could likely create remedies that only induce sleep as well."

“Kufufu~ Isn’t it? You will have to remind me what sort of poison-effects you’d like, Chikusa. I think this time around if we have to be rid of anyone, we need to do it faster instead of making them suffer.”
After all, Mukuro liked to see some suffering if he was around. Unfortunately, with Vindice’s eyes on him, if he wanted to make any moves like that then they’d have to be more direct. It means less trouble.
“And hopefully by killing people off quicker, there’s less chance for all of us to go back to Vendicare.”

Chikusa wondered himself the answer to many of the wolf's question and during the particularly angry outburst he considered carefully the answer. coming to a single conclusion the Gorgon knew the answer, He was surprised he had not caught on to his own desires sooner but it was not as though he would have thought himself to wish for something like this. He no longer wanted to be alone, and, for whatever reason be it the similar circumstances, the resemblance to an old friend, Chikusa had found some what of an odd kinship with the blonde one. The gorgon was not one for words when it came to emotional detail but now he knew. Failure to inform the other would simply be foolish and result in more hardship for both of them. So, putting his own awkwardness aside, before finishing his request Chikusa finally gave the wolf a proper answer to all of his questions.
"Surprising as this may be, it is so even to me, for whatever reason. I have come to consider you a friend." was that enough...perhaps he needed to elaborate...but he was unsure. "That being said, long ago, I promised myself I would never allow  another friend to die after the...accident...so your noble posing will do you no good. I will not leave you be."
The gorgon closed his eyes tugging at one of the many mambas attached to his head gently petting it to ease the discomfort speaking openly about such things had caused him before finishing his request. "As for my request I thought, if I assisted you in bringing peace to this land of leaves, you would accompany me to the city of stone the gorgon capital...there is...something I must do there."

He made an excellent display of his patience sighing Chikusa waited outside. The woman had showed a sharp and in his opinion favorable change in persona when a monetary offer was made. He supposed the right amount might be able to motivate her after all.
He stayed leaning against the door awaiting her exit, she actually seemed rather accustomed to such deals. Perhaps, yes, it had been very foolish of him to question their leaders competence when it came to seeking out assistance. This Deja might actually be just what they needed to get their information in a timely fashion.
"Miss Deja Vu." He responded to her speaking stepping out form the shadows where he had been leaning. Giving a  slight not of approval he commented, "It would seem I've underestimated your competence when dealing with underground affairs. That was a good call, my apologies." He awaited further comments or inquiries from her about the job he had mentioned earlier.
Dangerous Melody
Deja’s smile dropped from her face and her doe eyes became sharp. Money was nothing she played around with and she was quite serious when it came to it.
"Let me get the cash from the round idiot and we’ll talk. I have a time frame to collect. We need to talk elsewhere. Too many ears. Meet outside in 10 minutes?" she spoke low, but knew he would hear.
Deja switched her stage persona back on with a smile and looked around, in case anyone was watching. The small woman bowed lightly to him and headed out to find her money the boss.
((slight time skip?))
Deja tucked her money away and waved goodbye to the mafia people as she stepped out the door. She dropped the persona and sighed as she reached the front gate. It would have seemed as if she was speaking to herself out loud. “Chikusa.”

For the time being Chikusa gripped the tin and continued talking watching her reactions carefully. "I'm giving you a choice about what happens next Kashia Mashima....you will either comply with my next demands...or I will kill you on the spot." He removed one of his yo-yos from his pocket opening the tin to reveal it was full of needles which he proceeded to load the yo-yo with. "These are not sleep inducers if you refuse I will kill you."

Typical of a 'star' thinking everyone wanted her autograph not even remotely close to his intent. Yet, butchering of his last name aside Chikusa attempted to remain formal and polite. "Chikusa is fine, and I am not seeking your signature miss....I'm here to offer you another job."
Jumping right to the chase so much for attempting to build a relationship with her, however, if she was willing to risk her life here for a certain amount of money, he was certain there would be a price she would take the risk of their job for as well.
Mukuro-samma had stated that money was not an object, therefore theoretically speaking they could likely pay her whatever she asked. "The fee for the job would be easily negotiable and....it would be something you could do while continuing to do jobs such as this one."
Chikusa was still uncertain if this was the right move, a singing diva a spy, but, it was not his place to question their leader.
Dangerous Melody
Deja stopped short to prevent herself from running into the taller person. Taking a step back to put distance  between them, she gave her stage smile at the young man. “Ka…mo.. chi… eh….” Deja tried to repeat the name but Japanese twisted her tongue when she tried to speak it too fast. “Chi-ku-sa. Thank you for watching today!” This is what was supposed to be said to a fan, right? She wasn’t superb with interactions.
Deja felt a bit uneasy at at his turn of subject but kept the stage grin on as bright as ever. “Why yes, I perform as much as I can. My audience’s identity is not my primary concern.” No, her safety was, but the money was a top rival that won out in the long run.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" Deja thought on it for a moment. Oh! Fans usually stop idols for a reason! "Oh! An autograph? Hm, but I have no pen or paper…"

The animals were wary of him...as they should be, if he were to stay too long it might ruin all that he had tried to accomplish thus far. He didn't have time to be picking about the game now. He would simply have to play the one and be gone for the night.
"I suppose since you insist...I could...manage a round of it..." Chikusa was watching the two box weapons out of his peripheral just as warily as they seemed to be watching him. One false move and he could send the Akita into a barking fit or stir the swallow in some way, Chikusa made not to be cautious and keep his distance from the both.
Chikusa did not move form his spot instead he moved his hand it seemed like a simple enough jester hand from his side to rub his chin however in mid movement he had brushed his hand against his pocket assuring his weapon was there in case of the worst case scenario.
"...how do you play?" On a completely different note Chikusa had only ever heard the name of this game and that it could be unpleasant to play, nothing more.

"The other gorgon did not....threaten me.....he warned me....if he had wanted to 'threaten' me he would have attacked." Chikusa began considering the strategical advantage of wiping out the human village...perhaps if Dino's buisness was finished here....he might...consider repaying the gorgon by helping Chikusa go...there. It became clear that the  only way to free the wolf from his fools errand was to see it accomplished. However if Chikusa was going to see it accomplished he would see it accomplished correctly and wisely he finally rose from his hammock. "It is unlikely you will accept the offer I am about to make...unless I ask for something in return...." Chikusa was picking his words and phrases carefully he didn't want to send the other dragging himself out of the cave. "If you want the human settlement gone I will assist you in both finding other creatures to take up the cause as well as in the removal of their settlement."Chikusa stared out over where Dino was laying across the forest. "Long has this forest been sacred to forest dwelling creatures like yourself....and the humans were aware of that when they began this settlement thousands of miles away from another human settlement." Chikusa considered the consequences of tearing down the human settlement....the humans were much too far from others to receive immediately military back up and in honesty their settlement was not but a tiny village for the moment. Dino was right that if the humans were to go they'd have to go soon...if uprooted before they could expand into a full settlement it would likely ward of other humans for centuries to come. "It is likely that once given the facts not all but many others will join behind your cause to protect their mutual home....and once the humans are gone territory boundaries and peace will return to the forest. This I'm sure you already knew since you've been seeking it so avidly....I will assist you in settling this matter once and for all....in exchange....for your assistance....with something....afterwards..." The gorgon paused unsure if he was ready himself to face the task he now thought of.
Dino honestly did appreciate Chikusa’s selfless offers. And in return, the canine was loyal to him, like a dog to its owner. However, Dino didn’t believe the gorgon should waste his precious time and energy on some weak fool like himself. Curling up, he sighed, “I’m not worth your patience, just please help me up and let me go..yes I plan to go to the village no matter the condition I’m in…” Trying again to stand, it only failed as he collapsed back down. “Damn it…” He growled. The only way honestly to shut Dino up would be to knock him out so he would be forced to rest. “If I don’t do something then the humans and all of us will be in danger later…they plan to do the impossible and expand..do you know how easily we could wipe them out if we all attack?….” He sighed, “Chikusa…stop giving me your hospitality…you’re kind and I’m just wasting it…running back out to my death,” he sighed once more, “I’m not worth your safety, you’ve already been threatened by that one gorgon and humans because of me, if you hunt and collect water, then it should be for yourself…and please…don’t do something stupid like me and go silence the human’s plans..that’s for me to take on since the creatures who have tried failed and died, I won’t be like them, I’ll succeed, and if I get horribly injured, then at least I ruined their plans..”

That was when a brilliant idea struck Chikusa, something that could perhaps save him extra effort and make this less of a waste of time and energy. "You haven't made very much contact with the Vongola tenth's famigilia yet...have you?" Chikusa reacted in his bag, fussing for a tin full of something metallic, whatever it contained, the contents rattled in the tin with the sound of metal against metal.
Poor Judgement.

"You are not strong enough to rise yet." Chikusa began with a simple observation as he heard the others' yelp as he collapsed back onto the stone floor. "Where are you going...in such a hurry..." The only reason the wolf was trying Chikusa's patients was not because he had minded aiding the other creature. More that, at every turn Dino sought to waste Chikusa's charity and kindness merely by running back off to his death. The gorgon considered going himself to set this human village's plans to rest, maybe then the wolf  could finally stop making such a grad idiot of himself and waste of his life. For now the gorgon stored that little thought away in the back of his mind. He glanced over his shoulder still swinging in his hammock watching the other, based on those wounds Dino might not move for another few days it was simply too painful. "I will get you food and water in a moment....you won't be moving any time soon." Getting that matter of fact statement out of the way Chikusa went on with his swinging, he would rise in a few minutes once he'd given the other creature room to speak. That and once he was sure the hunting grounds would be safe, around this time was when the wolf PACKS were busy picking through the forest for their own meals.
His sleep was a rather pained one. The cold stone floor didn’t help, plus Dino was use to lying under the moonlight, gaining it mystical powers and using it to his advantage. However now, as he slowly woke, Dino found himself in an unfamiliar place. All he could remember was being stuck in here and begging to leave. Rubbing the base of his skull as he sat up, the pain in his back limited many of his movements. Yawning, he stretched and looked around. Spotting Chikusa, he was ignorant if the gorgon was awake or asleep. Staggering as he stood, the blonde had planned to leave and get a bit of fresh air. Then it dawned on him. Before he passed out he had promised the other male that he would leave and cease his bothering. Dino was convinced that he had only been a hindrance to Chikusa ever since he gorgon found him lying injured under the moon’s light. Dino had told the other being that if he ever wanted to talk then Dino would always be in the clearing when the moon rose. A frown tugged at his lips as the now sullen wolf sighed, now planning to leave and let Chikusa be. The canine no longer would be a nuisance to the other creature. Staggering as he finally stood, the first step he made he collapsed. Yelping, Dino groaned and rubbed his head. He was still weak, too injured to move. Cursing beneath his breath, he sighed and curled up, still tired. As of right now, all Dino could do was lie on the floor and hope to get better soon. As he did so, his mind wandered back to the human’s village. Dino knew what he planned to do was idiotic, but the wolf didn’t care. So long as he could sabotage their plans, he was fine with dying. As long as he passed knowing he did something to help the forest and the humans, he was ok. The humans honestly didn’t know what they were getting themselves into. If they waged war with the beings of this forest, then the humans would find themselves extinct very fast. Dino was surprised the creatures of this forest didn’t already take action and wipe them out.
