One thing to keep in mind when considering a move to the Philippines is that you will never be able to blend into a crowd if you are white-passing or Black. (Some Latin American/Indigenous American folks can pull it off until they speak, because everyone will just assume they're part of the large mestiza population here, just as a lot of Filipinos in the US are mistaken for Latinos or Indigenous folks.)

Which is a real issue if you're a white-passing autistic (like me) having an "I don't want to be perceived" kind of day.

All I can really say now is that I don’t feel safe anymore. Me and a few others have been fighting for our own right to literally just exist on this campus without discrimination at this university.

Hearing in the news now today that the most recent hate crime targeted against people like me is coming from another member of the church just does not make me feel safe anymore.

Church thing today. Just submitted my concern to an apostle that is coming to speak at our university. They’re open up to a Q&A. So I asked…

“Others seem to struggle with me being accepting, open, and vulnerable about my sexuality and gender identity which varies from the status quo. I mean no harm, I still follow the gospel standards and the honor code, yet i am still approached by others with concern as if I am carrying a burden, incapable of love or ever being loved, and have even been attacked and harassed because of it.

Such events have made me doubt my testimony and my own identity as a Child of God and if I truly fit in the church, or am safe in the community.

If I am queer, with an identity different from the status quo, do I truly fit in the church even when so many make me feel like I don’t?
