when i was a kid i used to respond to the "glass half full/half empty" question by asking how the liquid in the glass got there in the first place. nobody ever gave me a chance to explain my reasoning so i'm doing it now

if you have a glass and it has some liquid in it, up to the halfway line, whether it is empty or full depends on what happened before the question was asked. if you started with a full glass and poured half out until only half remained, the glass is half empty, because if you continued pouring it would be fully empty. however, if you started with an empty glass and poured liquid from another container into the glass up to the halfway line, the glass is half full because if you continued pouring it would be all the way full. logical, no?

i was 13 years old when somebody finally told me it was supposed to be some kind of optimism/pessimism thing. i always thought it was a riddle that nobody let me solve

YTTD Abridged Summary

So there's this story about this young lady named Sarah that's going into an adventure with her bestie named Jonh Cine and they met friends along the way.

They met this chocolate lady that became their tour guide

but professor wrestler decided to retire cuz he believes that he became delusional that his head went places. MsPaint didn't want to let him go but she eventually accepted

and then they met this prisoner that went to prison cuz he pushed someone for sum reason but the one he pushed is of high-standing so he was put to jail and so Jonh Cine befriended the lonely man and also became Sarahs'

and then they played cards cuz chocolate lady is bored but then Jonh Cine is so nice he wants to donate sum blood in the hospital so he stayed behind

plus the pretty househusband (that she never knew that he knew of what she knew but she'll never know) decided to stay behind the nearby slaughterhouse cuz he wants to chop up meat so

Sarah went on her journey with the rest of her friends (and imaginary friend that for some reason has same name as her bestie)

also, chocolate lady left them in sum hotel and they met these one nurse and a jester that welcomed them in the lobby and a live snobby crab started being a snob

so then Sarah's rockstar and prisoner friends started playing rock-paper-scissors of who will pay for the hotel (yes, the prisoner has coins too) but they ended up getting yanked on the head and punched on the gut by the jester cuz he's annoyed of their squabbles and they were kicked out the hotel

and then jester got pinched after by the snobby crab

and then Sou started to get bored so he borrowed househusband's laptop (it appeared in front of him so why not) and played online games with his assistant-adopted-sibling and Sarah is terrified that they've been playing fortnight (she doesn't know how in one laptop) all three nights so she had Kg's help to get the laptop so they could play animal crossing cuz they're tired of playing with their imaginary friends and also to play with ฅ⁠^⁠•⁠ﻌ⁠•⁠^⁠ฅ

so then Sou refused cuz he a sneaky, beanie ᘛ⁠⁐̤⁠ᕐ⁠ᐷ

Sarah started missing Jonh Cine cuz he's been bullying her in her sleep and she wants to cry and pinch his face

speaking of pinch, they started playing cards again and the snobby crab appeared just to anger everyone by *pinching everyone on the gut* with reality

and then time came when they need to continue their journey but got reminded they still need to pay the hotel so they argue at each other and Kg reluctantly volunteered but then Sou's assistant-adapted-to-sibling felt bad so she volunteered but then Sou didn't want her to pay too so Sou volunteered

then they started to cry at each other

so then MsPaint threw herself into the lobby desk before pulling up her paint and brushes then painting everything in red and pink in a flash and then pulling up people's attention cuz she painted so fast as she pulls offf precise beautiful pieces of art and everyone's distracted that MsPaint stared at Sarah implying they leave

then Sou and his adopted-sibling-to-be decided to join a flower shop so they farewelled Sarah with a present of Jonh Cine in some screen playing appear-disappear-onehalf-onefourth before her group left (Sou still have the laptop btw cuz Sarah didn't notice)

But then they met Sou's ex-bestie, named whateverdafckuwanthisnamebe, also having a journey with his own friends: an emo, a clown, an emo2.0, a bread, a muscle, and a normal person

Technically, whateverdafckuwanthisnamebe is also one of the hotel staff too so he dragged Sarah and what's left of her friends: KiloGrams, ฅ⁠^⁠•⁠ﻌ⁠•⁠^⁠ฅ, and Ronald back into the hotel

they met the boss of the hotel and they were given a game where if they win, they can go back to their journey that is nonsensical cuz bloody what were their goals anyway but they agreed cuz they're broke af having no money and Kg found out he was robbed without knowing (by whateverdafckuwanthisnamebe btw) from the very beginning

whateverdafckuwanthisnamebe trolled them hard before he disappeared from existence when Ronald grilled some burgers and enticed the boss enough to make him the hotel's griller

and everyone was let go

obviously there's still something going on and Sarah saw through and decided, with the help of KiloGrams and ฅ⁠^⁠•⁠ﻌ⁠•⁠^⁠ฅ, commit arson and burned the hotel down

in the end, the three went home anyway cuz arson is tiring okay.

does the new info from the mini episodes change how you see some relationships between characters?

I suppose I have some ideas regarding Sara's mini episode and it was cute seeing her having *maybe* a little bit of a crush (wink wink) seriously their blush sprites were so cute (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠)⁠♡

So there's this normal ending and the secret ending. I'm just gonna say my theory in simple terms.

The normal ending is a memory. And by memory I meant,, is what actually happened in the past.

On the other hand, the secret ending is a dream (or maybe a nightmare since it suddenly flashes to sets of the death game scenarios and in the end she chose the Massacre ending with Joe) which as we could see in her *especially**reliable* (narration) monologue, she's imagining a "what if"And I am just internally screaming in sorrow watching the pic that Joe is trying to get her out of there

Ps: I know people have similar thoughts with me about this but I'm just laying it here

YTTD MINI EPISODES SPOILERS!

I was thinking, at this point everyone knows Sei and Ranger are incredibly similar, not only in appearence but in personality and speech patterns too, it could even be said Ranger was created to be based off of Sei, possibly to test out how well the AI and doll can replicate a human, however there is a major difference between the two, which is their humanity.

Sei, just like Ranger, is shown to be a little crude and snarky, and is shown to be angry a bunch of times, but those are not the only traits of him. He can feel various other things, he feels sorrow and used after realizing he is a mere tool and as he remembers his biological father's death, he feels joy as he is able to find a friend and brother in kai, and a father in gashu, he feels fear as he is about to die, and he feels love, as he cares for his other family. This is what a human is, but as we know, Ranger lacks these things due to Gashu only using negative emotions, which means that Sei is probably what Rio Ranger should've been and what Rio Laizer was.

Kai's minisode reflect a lot on a person's humanity, and speaking of Gashu, he reflected this as well. Depsite being strict with his sons, he never showed any hatred or disrespect of them, and even offered them cake for the occasion. When he was told to not pressure the kids so much, he even thinks about going on outings together, and after he realizes they were raised as assasins, only for them to kill each other in the end, Gashu was ANGRY. This is the most human we ever see gashu, and all of this was because he grew to love his sons, and only after he was reprimanded by his coworker to do what Asunaro says, is when he begins to become morally corrupt, and become the asshole gashu we know today. Because he lost all of his love, is why he believed negative emotions is what made a human, and why Ranger was turned the way he is.

I also have less to say for Kai, but knowing he is a rather aloof and doesn't show that much emotion, it was always surprising when he showed any strong emotions at all, and this is no exception. It's pretty noticeable that when he was young he expressed way more more emotions than qhen he was an adult, especially with how he was raised after gasvu list his morals. He did state in the game that for the longest time, he didn't have anything to care for, but after meeting the Chidouins, he was able to slowly regain those rmotions, and be able to care for the Chidouin family, as well as regaining his humanity in the process.

Everyone on this story shows different aspects of humanity, and it's really interesting how it all ties together in this minisode, it's probably my favorite one so far! I'm no good at making conclusion, but I think the message comes across. Yttd is an amazing game, Nankidai really is something else!

keisou detective/criminal au except instead of dramatic heists and chase scenes it’s just them sitting alone in their houses. shin infiltrates the security system of some powerful organization from a cheap laptop while eating instant ramen and keiji analyzes the evidence he has and ponders if maybe this guy’s got a point, also while eating instant ramen
