no because you see actually the fact that zelos hates kratos' guts is by far my favorite aspect of zelos. like like the whole betrayal thing and whatnot, honestly, can't relate man, sorry about what happened to you i guess buddy but personally i dont care i just dont

but then back when i found out through finally playing his route + watching tof2 tls that the guy will diss kratos at any given occasion i was taken with renewed appreciation for him. its just too good. (and actually, there are signs of it even before that. like when you run into kratos in sybak and supposedly zelos doesnt know him at all but he still takes a moment to loudly go "omg fuck this guyyyyy" once kratos has left the scene and it's just ertghrteguhireg. zelos actually makes a couple more efforts to have lloyd trust kratos as little as possible. meanwhile theres that character skit in the flanoir area where kratos warns lloyd that there may be "someone in his group with ill intentions be careful no i won't elaborate bye" or whatever. all while k and z are presumably routinely in voice chat arguing over kratos' ridiculous grocery list. what a mess. both of them.) i unironically love it fr. i think it both makes perfect sense from a character perspective, and is hilarious. also it's nice to have one dude be openly hostile towards kratos. what can i say, i live for drama.

so anyway im glad we can all agree that the iselia ranch is a missed opportunity for an absolute train wreck of a skit that should have have happened but didnt.

about last reblog. like. its funny bc i was just thinking the other day about how ToS kinda rewards you for killing zelos. (for someone like me who has anime dad brain rot anyway)

and like. listen. not to Back In My Day about it but we just accepted it. like, you want your kratos treat, ok fine it'll cost you one whole zelos. thats how we rolled back then. no one complained (ok no i think everyone complained actually)

and like, im just like. you know like i went kratos 90% of the time probably and like. every time the time came to kill zelos i would invariably like. fast forward through it like "let's just not acknowledge that, guys i think it really ruins the mood and i want this to be a good vibes type of experience thanks" . and ngl i think the game kinda forgets about zelos pretty quickly??? i might be remembering this wrong ertjkngrertyh it's so weird. i mean you know when someone dies, things are bound to become. kinda awkward? so like. not judging anyone so yea anyway we kill this mildly infuriating guy

to more or less trade him for this other dude whom im pretty sure no one but colette can stand. like legit. WHO'S HAPPY ABOUT THIS??? what im saying is. i always got the impression that the game probably disapproved of my choice. im sure the characters hate me for this.

Can you believe she took that away from us. we could have had cool mounts in tales of arise but shionne ruined it all. My Dahnan Horse Culture(s) headcanons could have been real but shionne's existence destroyed them. you just know the team was thinking about Cool Zeugles You Can Ride but shionne robbed you of that experience. thats my fave right there.

that being said they're cowards looking for excuses because nothing stops shionne from riding hover bikes and yet they're not in the game either why arent there hover bikes in tales of arise they should have made it so theres a mechanic dude in ulzebek who refurbishes old renan tech gizmos to make hover bikes why isnt that in the game where are my cool hover bikes tomizawa you have no excuse well i guess you do because a faster mode of transportation would have required a much bigger world to go with it soooooo

so before i say anything else i just wanna take 3 seconds to applaud tomizawa's explaining that the integration of shionne's invincibility into gameplay would have had no practical purpose and then immediately caveating that statement with saying that the opposite would have been interesting as well. the commitment to not ruffling any hypothetical feathers about a feature that did not see the light of day to begin with is impressive, even by japanese PR standards. (and then the man greenlit BtD. i want to dissect him)

that aside bbaaaahahahaha why didnt they put that in the game im not even jokingggg nerds love that stuff. granted, theres a non-zero chance that the end result would have toed the line between heart-breaking and cheesy far too dangerously for any sane person's comfort, but im pretty sure your typical tales of enjoyer has built up enough tolerance to anime melodrama that they withstand the blow of shionne's emo abomination-induced resurrection, complete with an awkward one-liner. i mean we survived basically the rest of the game, why rob us of that particular bit of second-hand embarrassment. after all we've been throught together, tales of series............

but honestly can you imagine confronting that mantis in calaglia for shits and giggles, getting wiped and then shionne stands back up even though its early game and you're pretty sure you dont have skills that would let her do that yet and then she goes "this didnt kill me either.................................." dsfukghrgrg lmao

who am i kidding standing back up and walking away after defeat is what the whole party does anyway since this game has no game over
