Few of you guys said you wanted to see my college AU, so here it is. Fair warning, it's 90% grief. Aftermath of the season 3 ending.

Season 3 spoilers, obviously. Also, lots of ranting. This post is long.

CLONE STATE AU

6 months have passed since Cloney Island, 6 months since Joan, Abe, and Confucius were all demolished while the rest of the clones escaped on the submarine. Here are the main characters, as well as the Bleacher creatures. (More information about them later on) All students are 19-21 by now.

New Main 4

With the Clone State AU, Harriet would be (technically) the main character. Even if I specifically wouldn't want to focus on only one of these guys, in the show's perspective it would make more sense to pick her since she was Joan's best friend.

Harriet is a writer, as in the show itself. She wanted to be famous for her plays, her pieces of fiction. She applied to Clone state for Creative Writing. She often posts that to her media, as well as giving little updates on her life. Originally, she hit rock bottom. Joan gone, her ex gone, she's of course grieving. Especially since she was the last one on the submarine. She could've stopped Confucius from running back onto the island, but she didn't.

Naturally, she learns to push through. It runs in her blood. Life hadn't stopped for her, even if it felt like it. Plus, now JFK is her boyfriend and there to support her. (Kind of, I'll get back to that.)

Yes, she's wearing Joan's clothes. Why wouldn't she?

JFK is next on the list. Something I'm sure people will not like is that, yes, just like in the ending of season 3 I kept JFK and Harriet together. JFK is a very outwardly emotional man when it comes to tragedy, so when Abe and Confucius die that instantly trauma bonds the two together.

I know that in my story I shape him into a sidepiece for Harriet, but now that he's lost his three very closest friends through death I think it would make perfect sense for him to cling onto Harriet in the way that he does. Not to mention how he just opened up to his psychological side. Even if not a lot of people agree with that relationship, I think it fits for this AU. Also, canon couples never stopped fandoms from shipping other characters, so don't let that stop you either.

JFK is occasionally in the background of her videos, her selfies, photos. A supporter. He's in college just to get his two years in. Also, yes, his design is just him in season 1, episode 5.

Next, Cleo. The special thing about Cleo in the AU is that she doesn't apply to college. She works at a coffee shop instead. I almost went with the Grassy Knoll, but I personally find that too convenient. If you want it to be the Knoll, go ahead. Her step dad is involved with that anyway. Not that she's all that happy with it, she's working surrounded by a bunch of poor people, but it gives her something to do while her girlfriend is away. Time away from her mom too.

Yes. Frida and Cleo ended up getting back together. At first, she pretended like nothing had changed since she dumped her, but gradually she tried to emotionally support Frida. Even if they hadn't been perfect in the past, she wanted to appreciate that she's still here. They survived two insane near death experiences together, why wouldn't she?

For her grief, she doesn't enjoy talking about it. Do what you want with that.

All I did was give her a necklace and make her skirt just a little longer. Her design isn't super strict with her age.

Frida on the other hand is more honest with her feelings about Cloney Island. Yet still tries to put a positive spin on it for the sake of convenience. She of course misses her friends, close or not. She even bought clothes that remind her of them, honoring them. Like Joan's pants, Abe's shoes, the little stickers in her phone case for Confucius. However, that doesn't stop her from still having her individuality. Applying to Clone State for arts, painting, design.

Ever since Cleo broke up with her, even if they got back together she hasn't been the same. She was the one who messed up, she won't risk doing it again. Basically, she's a lot more independent than before, but still loves her girlfriend to death.

Candide, Scudworth, and Mr. B

Candide is now the new 'ruler' of Clone State, to put it simply. She's still desperately trying to salvage the whole, "world leader idea" except as more time goes on she has less and less hope. When Joan died, she was distraught. She was responsible. Even if she refused to face the fact that she once cared for Joan, in her own twisted way. Now she's gone.

She also hired a bunch of new professors, hint hint more fan characters. Some good at their jobs, some terrible. Her status with Scudworth? That's up for you to decide.

Speaking of, Scudworth treated the students as cage animals, so it was pretty much a no-brainer that he went to go and shelter himself in his home. Not that he hasn't messed up before, but now with his entire population has all the more reason to hate him, he couldn't be seen anymore. Yeah, Candide also tried to blow them up, but she doesn't really have enough mental capacity to care whether or not her students hate her. Candide ordered him to get more clones, but once again he proved himself to be a useless old man. He was too busy wallowing in the relationships with his creations all shattered beyond repair.

In short, he decided to retire. Mr. B helps him around the house, cooks, cleans, but is ultimately annoyed that he's stuck being a househusband now. I know that's a sad resolution for the both of them, but could Mr. B really leave Scudworth??

Only Frida visits him, sometimes. It took her a long time to even get over the situation, but she'll shrug off the inner grudge and hang out with him every so often.

Bleacher Creatures

Topher doesn't play a big part in the Clone State AU if we put it in the show's perspective. However, there will of course be a few details about him and the Bleacher Creatures.

Topher refuses to share any feelings about the incident.

As for his personality and how he displays himself to the public, he still has his opinions, but he only shares them with the Bleacher Creatures because they'll most likely side with his random grudges and online bullying. He doesn't know what he wants to be, but he applied to Clone State to learn more about science and mathematics.

Even if not under the bleachers anymore, they still call themselves that as a slogan. Still the same, except trying to crash college parties instead. The police are tired of their asses, not that they get thrown in jail, but they're an inconvenience to say the least. Not a lot of people like them.

There isn't much else for the rest of the Creatures, the only thing I really feel the need to throw out there is that Ivan is now a drinker, and Lizzie is a little more focused on schoolwork than her friends.

I also went ham on Ivan's design but decided to not touch Jackée or Lizzie's. Jackée is a self insert for the voice actor. It didn't feel right to touch hers, and her outfit is awesome anyway. Lizzie's isn't restrictive to her age, in fact I think it fits her better in college.

That's all I'll put out for my AU, I think. I want the fandom as a whole to enjoy it, so I tried to not be too lenient on my personal opinions about the characters, or only focus on the ones I really like.

Your headcannons, ships, fan clones or characters should all be welcome in this AU. Even if you only like the designs and not the writing, or vice versa, that's just fine too. However you guys want to take my insight you're allowed to!! I encourage you to look into this and take it your own way as deeply as possible.
