I will bet every single ounce of my life that Kevin knew Jean was in love with him but didn't act on it.

I'm going to bet my left leg that the reason Riko punished Jean with the backliners was not because he saw Jean looking at Kevin but because he saw Kevin looking back for even a fraction of a second longer.

I am also going to bet that Kevin doesn't have internalised homophobia he is just SCARED to act on tendencies because he thinks he'll still get punished for even indulging and to keep a good rapport. He even tried to teach Jean in the Nest but after Jean got out he shipped him to Jeremy because he knows Jean needs it.

something i am always thinking about in regard to kevin is that his decision to leave the nest, his moment where he hit his breaking point and decided he couldn't take it anymore, that's the moment that sets the whole series in motion. kevin leaving, kevin going to the foxes, it starts the chain of events that saves his life and the lives of neil, andrew, and jean. it's what gives them all a future and the strength to fight their way out. and fuck, he's scared and mean and a little cowardly, but he leaves. and it's the start of everything. it only makes sense that the story should start and end with him. kevin you are NEVER beating the main character allegations.

It sucks that adults' prejudices shape kids' childhoods. Like poly people having to actively worry about keeping custody of their kids just because other people who don't know them think their lifestyle is weird. Like imagine how much nicer things would be if people could just be normal about things.

Like some kid growing up in a family with Mom, Dad, and Kevin, who sleeps in dad's bed half the time and makes really good spaghetti. And that's just their primary example of what a "normal" family is. And then they go to kindergarten or something and really get to know other kids from other families for the first time and just go the fuck do you mean you don't have a Kevin? What happened to yours?

And the other kids go home asking their parents why they don't have a Kevin, because they, too, want really good spaghetti. And their parents have no fucking idea how to even begin unwrapping what the ever-loving fuck their kid is talking about.

i think everyone is so quick to call kevin heartless or emotionless or whatever when major things happen (like seth dying or andrew and aaron's whole TKM experience) and kevin's first instinct is to worry about the season. like they fail to realize that for kevin, exy has been the end all be all for his entire life. it doesn't matter how injured or traumatic it is, exy was everything. kevin doesn't know how to process major events outside of the context of exy. it was never an option for him to worry about anything else. kevin cares about his teammates. he shows that by worrying about their game because that's how he knows how to cope.
