Queer Liberation Library 2025 Pride Fundraiser
For those who still don't know, Queer Liberation Library (QLL) is a free, donation-funded, digital library of LGBTQIA+ books and resources. Since it is not a tax-funded public service like public libraries (also very important services, go get a card from your local library to support them!), it is open to all U.S. mailing addresses. You can read QLL's e-books and audiobooks on the Libby app or the Overdrive website.
They are having a Pride Month fundraiser. As of 6/15/25, they are at ~$26,000 out of $50,000. They have the next two weeks of Pride Month to make it to their goal.
If it is safe for you to, and you can afford it, consider donating. You can donate any amount, you can donate once or monthly, and you can donate anonymously. If you can't donate, consider sharing the fundraiser instead!
"Queer Liberation Library fights to build a vibrant, flourishing queer future by connecting LGBTQ+ people with literature, information, and resources that celebrate the unique and empowering diversity of our community." - QLL

They're hiding from the new humans that are now wandering around the garden. But demon and angel are fascinated with their odd behaviour. Maybe they'll learn a thing or two 😃

The fact that animals that care for their young will sometimes adopt others' lost or orphaned young to raise along their own is just funny to me. I know that it's all hormonal and there's no conscious thought involved in it, but the internal logic of it is so funny.
"Baby = success. More baby = more success. I have one baby and I found four other baby. I have five baby. I am being so fucking successful right now."

Honestly this is why part of me likes the "Chuck won" theory.
Because it DOES feel like something Chuck would pull to be absolutely a dick at them.
if you think about it, the way things ended for each member of team free will is some twilight-zone levels of cosmic punishment.
season one sam wants to build a life away from his family and hey, that’s what he ends up doing. because post-finale every single member of his family is dead. the people he came to realise that he loved, that he needed, the ones who saw every dark thing he had done and been and loved him anyway - they’re gone. enjoy that life sam, it’s what you always wanted right?
and cas - it isn’t just that he learned to love humanity dean only to have that torn from him at its very culmination. what gets to me is that the empty is a return to pure stasis. his arc was defined by how much he changed - his very capacity for change and what he did with his choices. only to have those possibilities stripped from him as completely as they could be. death beyond death.
dean. oh dean. he thought he broke free of his father’s violence only to have his entire too-short life framed by it. going out bloody. caring about no one but sammy. never trying to build any other kind of life. his heaven is as mundane and limited and joyless as his father’s expectations.
and the thing is - this isn’t the way a show rounds out the character arcs they spent 15 seasons on.
this is the way that vindictive fathers punish defiant children and I will never be ok about it.

You know, some of my favorite fics are abandoned.  And yeah, I wish they weren't  abandoned, but it doesn’t change the fact that I love them.  I certainly don’t wish they’d never been written.  Just saying, for those of us with dangling fics we guilt ourselves over.  It’s still better that you wrote what you wrote.

Siren Philosophy 1
Transcript:
Male Siren 1 (MS1): I do not think that humans eat animals.
MS1: I have never seen one do such a thing, and humans have animals that they do not eat. So they must not eat animals.
MS1: Furthermore, their mouths are small. They cannot eat animals properly. And they cannot rip animals apart, as trolls do, because they are so weak.
Male Siren 2 (MS2): I do not know if that is correct. Many small and weak animals eat smaller and weaker animals. Foxes are small and weak animals, and foxes eat mice and voles.
MS1: That is true, you are correct. We cannot conclude that humans do not eat mice and voles.

Tips on Writing Breakup Scenes
✦ People don’t always cry. shocking, I know. sometimes someone just sits there like a polite zombie, nodding and saying “okay” while their soul quietly packs a bag and moves out the back of their skull. They might want to cry, but also they might just go numb and stare at the salt shaker for ten minutes. Both are valid guys.
✦ Most breakups aren’t a single moment, they’re a slow unraveling that ends in a conversation, so even if your character feels blindsided, it should still carry that surreal “I should’ve seen this coming” haze. Because breakups rarely just drop out of the sky.
✦ The dumbest details stick, like seriously, no one remembers the whole speech, but they’ll remember the scratchy napkin, the weird buzz of a light, that their ex had mustard on their cheek and didn’t notice.
✦ You can always feel a breakup coming. no one says “we need to talk” out of nowhere, because people act different right before. overly nice. extra distant. weirdly cold or weirdly warm. characters should notice that, even if they can’t quite name what it is yet.
✦ Sometimes people still love each other. like, actually still love each other. it’s not always about the love being gone, no. It can be timing, fear, baggage, a hundred other things that get in the way. let your characters say “I love you” and still not stay. It hurts and it’s real.
✦ Closure? lol. most people don’t get it. a lot of breakups end with “wait, that’s it?” or a message that never gets sent or that one thing you almost said but didn’t. There’s rarely a satisfying ending.
✦ No one speaks in perfect sentences mid-breakup. people ramble. they say sorry three times and mean something different every time. Someone’s trying to keep it light. someone else is cracking. sentences trail off. someone forgets how to use words entirely.
✦ After it’s over, people don’t always sob into a pint of ice cream. Some people shut down, some go out and party, some clean their entire room, rewatch a comfort show, or post a spicy selfie with “new era” energy. Everyone breaks differently, so let your characters be weird about it.
✦ And if your character is the one doing the breaking up, let them feel complicated... just because they’re ending it doesn’t mean it’s easy. They might feel guilty and relieved, or they might cry after. Maybe they might mourn the version of the relationship that only existed in their head.

I was thinking about how I have grown to value mandatory voting over a system that allows allegedly more freedom. Because in country, mandatory voting means I just have to send in a ballot. It can be empty or filled with the write in ballot "pickle farts" if I want.
If I go to the voting station all I have to do is get my name checked off. I don't have to vote if I don't want to.
But it means it is much more difficult for the government to try and suppress voters. Because voters have a legal obligation to go to the polls, so you can't restrict them or try tactics to dissuade them.
Voting polls are open long hours with access to food and water being a fairly standard staple. You don't need any form of ID, you have to be given time to go vote in work hours without penalty if you cannot do it after work hours.
Every now and then a politician tries some small way of voter suppression but it isn't as easy. And so I have learned to appreciate it.
But when I googled, out of curiosity, if the USA had ever had anything like that I was met with a barrage of websites talking about freedom and justice and the absolute liberty of Americans. I thought an eagle was going to bust out of the screen.
Going through some of these I noticed they were think tanks connected to billionaires, one of them was funded and created by the Koch brothers.
Gotta love how often the American "freedom" is actually used as a way to further deny actual freedoms, both linguistically and politically.
