1. Favourite thing about them

He is fucking insane in the best way! Have you ever seen someone so dramatic or iconic. He is obsessive and unhinged, and the only sane person for miles. He is completely right, but also wrong about everything. He loves it when people beat the shit out of him, and he gives off the most feral power bottom energy I've ever seen lmao! He's just sksksjsb. He's also such a complex character who is allowed to be kind and cruel, and flawed and yah just aaaahhh I have no coherent thoughts about him at this point, I just love him!

2. Least favourite thing about them

He'd be down for colonising the other great nations in the name of peace. His entire philosophy is become so powerful that you can force people to submit to peace. I understand if there is a 100% guaranteed plan where true ever lasting peace can be achieved, but that's not the case with politics, and yh I don't need to explain why forcefully occupying other nations is bad lol. Also it's not his fault but he's kind of dumb. The Infinite Tsukuyomi plan is so short sighted, like how is humanity supposed to reproduce and survive for starters. It would have been more interesting if he took away people's free will and forced them under his peace that way.

For the record I don't ship him with anyone romantically, and I do prefer this ship to be on some level of platonic. But Hashimada! They have a bond that transcends definition. I'd call them soulmates but that doesn't quite capture it. The star-crossed tragedy of it all gets me ngl. I do think their bond holds more depth and value if it's not romantic, because having attraction thrown into the mix waters it down. Having no other reason to feel as strongly and be as selfish as they are about each other, than the simple fact that the other person sees and shares their dream. (And when they choose not to be selfish it's even more tragic).

But I also think it's hilarious if Madara is living out this unrequited romeo and juliet narrative, acting like some scorned lover, while Hashirama is just like you are my best friend, you are my gift from the divine, you are half of my soul. And Madara thinks he doesn't care as much because he doesn't want him romantically (or what he perceives to be romantically) lmao. Clowns (affectionate).

Also they have good sexual chemistry, and they give me big platonic life partner vibes. But also that whole thing where they have sex, and while it is about attraction, it's less about romance and more about companionship. Maybe I'm biast about the whole anti romance thing lol, but that is peak Hashimada content for me and I will eat it up like nothing else!

But no this ship makes no sense to me, I don't enjoy their chemistry in any way shape or form, and whenever I come across it I feel physically sick. I hate everything about it. The relationship I think is most important to Madara (and that I care most about) is his relationship with Izuna. Izuna is also my favourite character, and it physically pains me to even think about Madara so much as considering spitting on his brother’s memory like that. I just can't. I do get why people ship it tho, and all the people who do ship it that I've interacted with are all so lovely!💖 I just personally cannot stomach it.

(Also Madara is entirely obsessed with Hashirama, I can't fathom in what circumstance he'd ever settle for his brother's murderer instead).

He is immune from fire of all kind. As a kid he'd probably crawl into fireplaces because it's warm and toasty lol. He also sets himself on fire if he can't be asked to wash himself, rationalising that that's how you sanitise shit! (Izuna is embarrassed to be related to him sometimes lmao).

I have a question. Surprisingly it’s not SNS which I hope that’s okay. It’s about Hashimada.

I’ve read back to your other posts (to make sure I don’t ask the same question because I tend to do that) I see that you like these characters too. So I feel a bit comfortable talking about this.

I see some fans compare their relationship to Naruto and Sasuke’s. Some say Hashimada is a stronger bond than SNS. Tbh, I thought both bonds as the same, they’re both meaningful on both sides.

Now, I’m aware they’re friends and nothing more. I accept that.

Now on to my question.

So, Madara got Hashirmara’s cells and flesh to connect with him to gain more power ( I haven’t reached to this part so I’m sorry if I got his motivation or reasoning wrong) and this results to Hashi’s face forming on his chest.

Idk why but that kinda reminds me of a couple or boyfriend/girlfriend getting a tattoo of their significant other.

I’m not saying that’s exactly what’s happening just to clarify. It’s just a harmless take.

Anyways, what do you think? How do you view their relationship? Why do you like it? Do you think Hashimada is similar to SNS? Lastly, do you believe their bond is stronger than SNS?

Calling them 'Just Friends' or 'Brothers' is just incomprehensible for me. They were openly flirting with each other throughout the series and nobody bothered to give a damn about it. They were so intense, Man!!!!! So intense to the point that they were the first couple in Narutoverse I realized inherently.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HashiMada and SNS

SNS and HashiMada were separated by 7 or 8 decades and both of their ideals were very different. It's like comparing the love of our Great-Great-Grandmom Generation's Love Story with Our Generation.

It's simply a waste of time and pointless.

However, I see many difference between them Personality-Wise.

HashiMada's(HM) daily life was far worser than SNS. HM didn't know when they will die or how long will they live because of the Clan Warfare happening on a regular basis which was the major problem during their era. Whereas SNS lived in a peaceful Era compared to HM. Their lives were never in Danger unless you go on some Dangerous missions. They could totally choose to stay in the village and remain safe, which is a luxury HM never had.

HM found their common ground in their 'Loss of Brothers' and 'a passionate dream to change the Shinobi World'. SNS bonded over their common ground in 'Loneliness'.

Madara doesn't know the meaning of the word 'Subtlety'. LOL. Whereas Sasuke was very subtle in showing his love. Very Subtle to the point where people still think Sasuke never liked Naruto.

Madara never once openly proclaimed that he will kill Hashirama. Ever. Yes, They battled against each other for non-personal reasons but Madara never said, “I will kill you, Hashirama” . While Sasuke said “I’ll am going to kill you, Naruto”, many times. Although I understand his reasons.

SNS had an honesty that HM lacks. Everytime Sasuke wanted to kill Naruto, there will be a warning first. Whereas Hashi went behind Madara's back and stabbed him. Madara went behind Hashi's back and concocted some Moon Plan. Though I understand, why HM did what they did.

Madara never had any issues with openly acknowledging Hashi's abilities, infact Madara was screaming his name like a cockatoo about how better Hashi was in everything and how everyone else sucks. LOL. Whereas it took 698 chapters for Sasuke to acknowledge Naruto.

HM battled each other for reasons bigger than themselves. For the clan. Later for the shinobi world. SNS battled each other only for their personal reasons. VoTE1 was all about ‘I won’t let you get away Vs I can’t turn my back’.... VoTE2 was about ‘I want to be alone Vs I won’t let you be alone’.... LOL.. That's why SNS battles sucks in terms of Grandeur or variety of Jutsus. Because it always looked intimate.

HashiMada's Reunion in War Arc was the absolute Troll of the Century. SNS reunion in part 2 was unsettling and unintentionally seductive.

HM never played ‘Tsundere’ card, Man!!!... They were very open and flirtatious. SNS was a slow-burn, tsundere one. In Part 1, Naruto was the Tsundere one, in Part 2, it was Sasuke...

HM was very similar to Romeo-Juliet in a Ninja warfare world. SNS was all about ‘Chasing my love for 4 years’ from Naruto’s side... ‘I won’t let any of you mere striplings lay a finger on my love... I am the only person to kill him but I really can’t kill him’ from Sasuke’s side. LOL..

At the end of the day, I love both of the ships in a different way.

SNS will be my favourite forever, though!!! And HM is my first ship.

I was Blushing so hard, without knowing why, when Madara revealed that tattoo for the first time.... I didn’t intend to Ship them at that point... But definitely that behaviour doesn’t qualify under ‘Friendship’ let alone ‘Brother’... And that’s why I told you, ‘You are very wrong’ in the beginning of this post!!!!

Why do you like it? 

I like HashiMada because this ship made me to understand Madara from an emotional perspective. Before that, I only thought of him as a Cool, Badass and Nice Looking Villain. 

When you look at him from the Narrative Point of view, Madara was the ONE AND ONLY person to have 3 different flashbacks to be told by 3 different people. 

First, We heard about him from Itachi, as a Uchiha clan member. It gave us some information about how Madara was perceived from the eyes of his very own clan members. With the way Itachi talked about him, Madara was portrayed as a power hungry person who stole his Brother’s eyes for the sake of Power.

Second, we heard about Madara from Obito, as Fake Madara, another Uchiha Clan member. That flashback portrayed Madara as a victim and it had lots of lies. He shamelessly lied about how he was never involved in Kyuubi Incident. 

Third, the flashback from Hashirama. This is where we saw the ‘Loveable’ side of Madara. Like how he was very interested in changing the Shinobi World of his time. And How he was so heartbroken when he was forced to break up with Hashirama.. He awakened his Sharingan for Hashi, Dammit!!! And the Name ‘Konoha’ was coined by Madara..... It’s like they both adopted a baby together and named it... LOL..

What Kishimoto was trying to say here is, Every person who did some irredeemable things will always have some lovelier side too. Zabuza killed many people for fun and earned a nickname called ‘A Demon’... But when you view him from the POV of Haku, he was not a complete Monster. 

Similarly Madara’s adorable side was shown to us by Hashirama. This is actually a Romantic Trope... LOL... A guy may be a monster to the entire world but towards that one girl, he will become a child and loveable person.... (Beauty and the Beast says, ‘Hello’......)

When I finish that flashback, I realized three things,

Madara was not some mindless villain. 

How come, Hashirama, a person who don’t belong to the Uchiha Clan can portray Madara in such a nice manner?? 

Why the hell Hashirama is portraying the story as if he sacrificed his ‘Great Love’ for the sake of the Village but not a ‘Friend’??? LOL.... This is when I totally shipped them from the bottom of my heart. 

And that’s why I like HashiMada because it showed me a different Madara that I’ve come to like. Let’s say,

Do you think Hashimada is similar to SNS?

The only similarity I could find is that both the pairs found some ‘Unexplainable Connection’ between them on their first meeting... And Both the Uchihas evolved their Sharingan when they their trying to break up from their counterparts. 

Both pairs are the reincarnations of Ashura and Indra. 

And both pairs have Senju/Uzumaki and Uchiha lineage.

Other than that, I didn’t find any similarities between them. 

Do you believe their bond is stronger than SNS?

Again, I don’t want to compare who is stronger because it is unreasonable. This story has been built upon the bond of SNS.... So, HM is a side story which has the disadvantage of Narrative time dedicated to it. And yet, with the minimal amount of time, I realized that ‘They love each other’ without anyone’s influence.

Usually, People claim that HM’s bond was weaker because Hashirama killed Madara. This is where I disagree because Sasuke also rammed his Chidori into Naruto’s chest... Thanks to the plot armour and Kurama’s healing ability, Naruto didn’t die. So, this gesture can’t be used to measure the strength of the bond, in my opinion. 

But look at how Madara behaved after Hashi came to the Battlefield????

Lollll..... A Reunion of the Century, in my opinion!!!!!

Madara never asked Hashirama about killing him at any point. They just behave like nothing happened between them. And I feel, that’s the strength of their bond. That is, to forget everything and start over from the beginning....

I sincerely feel that rather than comparing which one is stronger, I would prefer to treat both the ship as a separate entities.

And in my opinion, I always considered HM is a trend-setter for SNS.... Because, when you finish the series, both SNS and HM stands out as a different bond as compared to other friendly bonds like Kakashi/Obito, Shikamaru/Naruto or brotherly bonds like Itachi/Sasuke, Raikage/Killer Bee.... 

The strength of HashiMada can be realized from fandom’s reaction to it. I’ve literally seen many non-shippers and shippers claimed, “I would pay any money to watch a series based on Hashirama and Madara’s Era rather than this Boruto bullshit”.... And that’s my stand as well. 

If someone tells me Kishimoto can’t write Romance... Then I would simply show them HashiMada onto their faces because it is very Short, Sweet, Cute and Tragic at the same time. 

To put it simply,

HashiMada is a great ship which is very different from SNS in many aspects and it has its own Strengths which SNS lacks. That’s why, I don’t want it to be compared with each other.

Do you think Madara was 'obsessed' with Hashirama, as some fans say ?

I think on some level, he was.

He was certainly captivated by Hashirama's charisma. From their childhood moments, be it because their own chakras seemed to gravitate towards one another, be it because they reciprocally found their own dreams mirrored in one another, the bond they shared lasted more than a life time, even past the limits of death.

There's a very interesting parallel between Madara/Hashirama and Naruto/Sasuke, at least in my very humble opinion. Whereas Naruto was resolute and unrelenting on bringing back Sasuke and somehow finding a way to save him from the curse of hatred, Madara is similar to Naruto in his obsession with Hashirama only in their case the tables are reversed: it's not Hashirama who is absorbed with the pursuit of bringing back Madara, it's Madara who is hellbent on Hashirama chasing after him (even though he clearly states the opposite).

In a way, it's a much sadder, far more tragic scenario - because, in the end, no one goes after Madara. When it comes down to it, the entire world had turned its back on him, all he was left with was pain and sorrow and the memories of the people he once loved. As opposed to Sasuke (and one can certainly criticise the relationship between him and Naruto or him and Sakura), Madara lost his nakama's support - by the time Madara chose to abandon Konoha, Hashirama had already evolved past the relationship they had and his dream, the village, his new life (I suppose understandably too) had gained greater importance than saving Madara from the notoriously criticised "Darkness" - of course, it comes down to the opposition to the Will of Fire. It's a recurring theme throughout the Manga; WoF Vs CoH. It's quite ironic to think that perhaps the WoF is what estranged Madara in the first place. I'd argue that CoH doesn't quite come down to something genetically inherited - When the alliance between the two great clans was forged, Madara had already gained the EMS - yet he was able to look past the loss of his beloved brother, he was able to look past his resentment and even his revile for T0birama - he was able to devote himself to the Founding of the first Hidden Village. If CoH is genetically inherited and aligned with the awakening of supreme ocular abilities, how is it that Madara was capable of investing himself into something constructive like creating a village? To me CoH sounds like an equivocal concept, something utilised to demonise and estrange a section of people. But that's just me...

Moving on... So Madara is left to wander the abyss on his own, having lost everything that was dear to him: his family, his clan, his closest most beloved friend, his faith in humanity and in the possibility that the world could be changed for the better. I can understand why he would be obsessed with Hashirama — bleak solitude, loss, desolation, these are all factors that can have an extremely detrimental effect on a person. So perhaps his manner of lashing out was in actual fact a desperate plea to be brought back into the light, as so many people tend to believe. Or maybe it was that Hashirama failed him, failed their shared dream. Konoha would fall into darkness and Hashirama just couldn't see it.

But we all know what happened at the Valley of the End — and you can see the sheer, unfiltered shock in Madara's expression when Hashirama drives his katana into his flesh, delivering a fatal blow; I have this idea that Madara didn't truly expect his friend to go through with it. And I don't think it's a coincidence that Madara falls with a blade through his back - it's allegorical and symbolic as Kishimoto made it very clear that Madara despised it when people stood behind him.

Even after his first death and despite everything, the despair, the pulsing darkness that envelopes him, the bitter loneliness, Madara endures with this one last visionary (and yes, a bit distorted) dream of peace. Yet, Hashirama is always in his thoughts:

The Gedo statue of the outer path, the one that keeps him alive, displays a sort of wooden carving of Hashirama's body. I think it's quite emblematic. Even the pose in which it's portrayed, arms splayed wide open as if in a gesture of giving and almost taking flight, I don't think it was a random choice.

But what sealed it for me was at the point of Madara's ultimate downfall (sage of six paths perfect Jinchuriki), when black Zetsu penetrates his body to seal Kaguya - As he realizes he has been betrayed by his (supposed) underling and he has failed in his mission, he says the following:

"Hashirama, where did I go wrong?"

And he says it with such a fatalist desperation.

Even at the point of destruction and failure, his thoughts were with Hashirama.

So I think that, after he had lost everything that was precious to him, Hashirama was the person that remained dear to him. And that he needed too, to save him from falling into annihilation - annihilation in the sense of complete and utter loneliness.

So yes, I could say that in a very desperate way, he was obsessed with Hashirama.

Madara had to lose his brother and will to live to move in proximity of his crush, and that’s just the start. He spent like 80 years or something in a cave with a lifeless wooden copy of Hashirama, was thirsting for him even after death, and when he got resurrected the only move he managed to pull on him was to steal his senjutsu How can you fumble so badly with the guy who already was into you?!

Naruto ended up with a girl but not the girl he wanted and both his crushes ended up marrying each other which is not a win but I can’t really call it a complete fail either

So, Naruto clothes and bodies

One of the things I will always love about Naruto is how everyone is running around in whatever they please, be it an orange jumpsuit, a gigantic purple rope around the waist, white shorts, or that horrible vest Shikaku wore, I don’t even know how to describe it, the one that looked straight from Flintstones? 

Even better when they get out of it. It makes sense that shibobi would be muscled and fit, but you really can’t tell it until they undressed. We saw Naruto a lot in his underpants, but Jiraiya also shows the scars on his chest, conveniently when Tsunade is watching.

I’m admittedly biased, but one of the best reveal is when Sasuke’s Amaterasu mysteriously doesn’t scorch Madara’s skin or hair, just burns his armour and shirt off. (based on this panel the Amaterasu feels orgasmic good)

I always thought (and despite evidence I still think) Madara was skinny. Muscled yes, but also thin and light, especially compared to Hashirama (who we never see out of his clothes, which is tragic) 

Now this is obviously the Hashiboob reveal time to Hashirama, but we also learn how compact and sturdy Madara is.

It’s a pity Hashirama is not in a state to appreciate it, really.
