This documentary video was first presented at the exhibition “A Greek Ceremony: Exhibition of Costumes and Objects from the Opening Ceremony of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games” at the Beijing Capital Museum, between 20 May and 6 July 2008, as part of the Cultural Year of Greece in China. The exhibition, curated and designed by Lili Pezanou, was then transferred to the National Glyptotheque in Athens, Greece between 8 and 20 December 2009.

California State Attorney General Kamala D. Harris on the importance of prison education from Ford Foundation on Vimeo.

At the Renewing Communities symposium in on May 8, California State Attorney General Kamala D. Harris delivered a keynote address in which she announced the creation of Back on Track, a recidivism reduction pilot program in partnership with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD).

With major support from the Ford Foundation, the pilot program will expand LASD’s “Education Based Incarceration Program” through a partnership with the Los Angeles Community College District, providing higher education opportunities that include pre-requisites to community college degrees, credentials and certificates, as well as essential re-entry services like employment and life skill services.

A discussion with Giorgos Rorris

On Wednesday 24 February, at 8 p.m., the art historian and exhibition curator Elizabeth Plessa and the journalist of “Ta Nea” newspaper Mary Adamopoulou conducted a discussion with Giorgos Rorris at 16 Fokionos Negri, on his works Blue Alexandra and Yanna, included in the 16 Fokionos Negri show.

This event was related to the Giorgos Rorris: The Hidden Image exhibition, organised by ‘The other Arcadia’ Foundation at 16 Fokionos Negri (3 February – 27 March 2016).

In this hand drawn animation a line is being extrapolated through a grid. When the line surpasses the boundaries of the grid, the process spreads to and reflects on its surroundings. Beyond each boundary the extrapolation of movement is causing deformation in a systematic but speculative way.

This work was created with support from ”Animation Artist in Residence Tokyo 2016” part of the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan (Bunka-cho) ”Project to invite overseas creators of media arts 2016” and the Mondriaan Fund.

An explorer adventures into an unknown world, yet it seems that he has been there before. A short animated film directed by Malcolm Sutherland in 2010. With music by Alison Melville and Ben Grossman, and foley by Leon Lo. Sound design / mix by Malcolm Sutherland.

The animation is all hand-drawn; a mix of drawing / pastels on paper and digital animation with Toonboom Studio and a wacom cintiq tablet, assembled in After Effects 7 and edited in Sony Vegas 8.
