Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1

The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.

So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.

So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.

Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.

And the probe is working again.

From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.

fear: What is your OC's greatest fear? What do they do when confronted with it? Are they open with their fear, or do they hide it away?

Nyr fears his past and memories. He remembers some shit that happened, some he doesn't, but anyway he wishes he would never think about it ever again and that the memories he has lost will never resurface. Even though he doesn't admit it, this fear prevents him from returning back home because he is aware that that place would ruin him and that the absence of his parents would be unbearable. (If I went further in The Lore, I could also talk about how he fears himself but that's not 100% fleshed out.)

Yrsk fears losing people he loves. He has already lost more than enough and he knows that he can't handle another corpse because Nyr is the only thing standing between him and death. Therefore, he literally does anything to keep Nyr alive and with him, be it changing as a person or falling back into old habits.

Both are hesitant to share their fears, especially Yrsk, but eventually they are somehow able to communicate them to each other:)

ghost: Who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?

Nyr is haunted by his mother's death as well his father's, even though he doesn't remember it - but he knows he would be lying to himself if he tried to convince himself that he is alive. He is more or less at peace with his mom's death since it happened several years ago, so he can live with her ghost just fine, but as for his dad... He anxiously awaits the day when the memories come back together with the new ghost. Also, there are the people who kidnapped him, who literally both haunt him and hunt him.

And oh boy Yrsk, this guy is a whole ass haunted mansion with the amount of ghosts he carries around. Not only his loved ones that were taken from him, but also a number of people he killed - and both try to drown him in a deep ocean in his dreams with their cold hands. Not an everyday occurrence but still more frequent than he would like nevertheless 👍 Bro is so full of fun.
