Good Intention may end up unpleasant. How Dove spoiled its own Brand Name?
Dove is always famous for its ads campaign but its bottle-shaped campaign went against its objective. Instead of people celebrating the campaign, they started teasing the ad campaign flooded with negative comments on social media networks.
Why Bottle Shape Campaign went wrong? Dove's idea was really great giving respect to each and every woman irrespective of shape and size. Considering this they manufactured six different bottles to celebrate every woman, so Dove came up with six different bottle-shaped products from voluptuous to slim, Tall to petite conveying the message Women are always beautiful irrespective of their shapes.
Unfortunately, the campaign went on the wrong path, people turned against Dove and gave big thumbs down for its campaign. Many women on social media posted negative comments against the Dove campaign. Most women's question was
1. Why Dove depicting Women's Body shape in its campaign?
2. Weren’t they trying to communicate the importance of real beauty?
3. Why were they now reminding their consumers about their body shape?
Many women who viewed the ad campaign confused about the bottles, which ones they were supposed to buy? As a result, they started comparing their body shape with other women.
The real ad campaign turned into a laughing matter on social media and Memes popped up here and there.
Though Dove had a good intention and objective the idea was not encouraged by people. The best part is Dove was not planning to sell this kind of bottle on market just for campaign purposes they manufactured the bottles.
