I wish I could make every 12-13 year old read The Left Hand of Darkness.
As Mr Gaiman says, her depiction of gender on the world she created, it’s mind-blowing to young brains. It is a whole new idea.
And then listen to her: She was 85 I think when she got this award. And she’s still ready to take down capitalism.

I haven’t done an update on Net Neutrality in a while as I was trying to find a reasonable “next step”, especially since it’s been out of the “news cycle” for a bit. Well, I have some good news.
According to the senator (minority leader Chuck Schumer) from New York, they now have a total of 50 votes for a Senate resolution of disapproval that would restore the Open Internet Order of 2015 and deliver a stiff rebuke to Ajit Pai and other Republican members of the FCC. It would also prevent the agency from passing a similar measure in the future, all but guaranteeing Net Neutrality is permanently preserved
What’s stopping them now? They need just ONE more Republican and they have less than 30 days to do it.
So goes the next actionable step. You have to contact your senators and get them to suppose the Congressional Review of “the Open Internet Order of 2015″.
There are two ways to go about it.
1) Via 5calls.org using this script - https://5calls.org/issue/fcc-net-neutrality-cra
2) Via https://resist.bot/ - you can write to Congress using this site or Text RESIST to Resistbot on Telegram, Messenger, or to 50409 on SMS. By providing basic information, you can write your Senator to move forward.
Now, if you got a Democratic Senator, push them on to find that one Republican Senator. If you got a Republican Senator, encourage them to reconsider their stance on Net Neutrality.
We just need ONE Republican Senator and we have less than 30 days to do so.

DM (to our bard): The six cultists shove you to the ground, bow to the massive green dragon, and say, “Oh Great One, we have brought you this gold and this human sacrifice as tribute to your greatness. Please accept our offering.”
Rest of Party, looking on from a distance: Shit. He’s dead. He’s so dead. RIP Edward.
DM: The dragon thanks the cultists and asks if you have any last words.
Bard: I look up at the dragon and say, “I have brought you this gold and these six cultists as tribute to your greatness.”
Rest of Party: OH SHIT!
DM, who was clearly not expecting that: …………roll persuasion.
Bard: 17.
DM: The dragon says, “I like you. Duck.”
Bard: ….I duck?
DM: The dragon incinerates the cultists with his poison breath and leaves you alive, flying off with his treasure.
Bard: Oh my god. I thought I was dead.
DM: Honestly? So did I.

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH YESSSSSSSSSSS

Uh oh. It’s a Star War. I drew these for Patrons, mostly in livestreams, back around the time TFA came out. It seemed like an appropriate time to share them publicly…with some apologies. >_> Happy holidays, everyone! —————- Lackadaisy’s on Patreon - there’s extra stuff!

How do you make a character a genuinely good person without making them perfect or a Mary Sue?
See, questions like this really make me want to punch the people who started perpetuating the ludicrous notion that a character being a good person makes them a Mary Sue and that self-centered, edgy characters who like to hurt others for the hell of it are somehow inherently more interesting.
My advice is: forget Mary Sue. Kick her directly out of your brain, and focus on making your characters interesting people without worrying if they’re too good or nice to be realistic.
For tips on characterization and what to avoid, I recommend checking out my writing masterpost, particularly my post on how to get to know your characters, traits of a likable hero, and male and female characters to avoid in your writing.
Protagonists who are genuinely good people are almost always my favorites in well-written literature, and I personally think there needs to be more of them
So best of luck, and happy writing! <3
