Alright, so the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 have literally been the shittiest last couple of months I have experienced in a long time. My life is F...A...L...L...I...N...G... apart. Almost everyday has been worse than the day before. I've cried, I stayed in bed for days in a row, I didn't shower for a few days and I contemplated moving back home to Amarillo. I am literally at rock bottom. So after praying and wishing I could be hit by a bus, one of my prayers has been answered. I just wanted one person to believe in me. And it happened. So even though these last months have been awful, and even though 2015 is going to probably suck for a little bit, someone believes in me. And I will get through this. And I finally graduated. One day at a time. Thanks Scotty.

I felt amazing on this day. I felt like I looked amazing. It is a rare day that my hair, face, and body are all in agreement haha. And then it was all wasted on someone who didn't appreciate it. Oh wait, and so was my Christmas gift to that other guy... and that one guy, and guys just suck in my opinion right now. But I am so proud of my being brave philosophy this year. Thanks Sara Bareilles. I'm totally owning that shit. Each month I am giving myself something to look forward to. My Valentine's Day gift to myself is going to the Dr. Dog show. Totally stoked. Now if my new life of homework and work would calm down, that would be amazing, and more so, I need to start applying for those internships. Alright, this day was awesome, can't wait for my next awesome day! SXSW is in 5 weeks yay!!!

STOP BITCHING AND START A REVOLUTION.
The truth, I am a living failure of everything that has happened to her. It's not my fault, but it's the truth. I am tired of that being my truth. I am tired of thinking that things aren't going the way I plan them to. The real truth isI'm blind, or maybe plain stupid, but things are going so right for me, and I am too focused on things when they go wrong, than when the big picture is so right. SO RIGHT. I am almost to the finish line. I graduate in less than 12 months. I GRADUATE IN LESS THAN 12 MONTHS. WHOA!!!!!!! I am so utterly scared of taking this next step in my life, but I am so utterly excited, it nearly brings me to tears.
Friday was a fantastic day for me. God let me experience so many great things that day and I was elated, the impossible became possible. Today I found out that a good friend of mine reached the end of hopelessness, today I found out that a friend of mine has been taken advantage of and treated in such a way that is unacceptable and a danger to her and her children. Yesterday I found out that my roommate feels friendless, and in 10 days I will be home. And in less than 12 months I will graduate, and in a year I will be in Mexico celebrating my friends marriage. So much good and so much bad happening at the same time and I am conflicted on how I should feel. Should I be happy or so sad. My brother's death anniversary is soon. Too soon. happens twice a year to me. His birthday and his death. The circle of life right. After hearing about the friend today, my mortality floored me. I my end is inevitable, but it scared me today. He had children, what happens in your life that the thought of being nonexistent triumphs the life you have with your children and family. Sad day.
Moral of the story.. Stop bitching and start a revolution. You can not always control the cards life throws at you, but you can make changes. If you are unhappy, start doing things that make you happy. Everyday will not be awesome. everyday will not be fun, but things happen everyday and it is your duty to live like you want, because if you don't, you may never have the chance.

I love Derby Day!!!! Mostly for the hats, but I love it all the same. Glad I got to share it with some great company at the Pecan Street Festival in ATX. New favorite bar is the NOOK. I graduate in 12 months. Not real sure how I am going to pay for my summer school, but something is going to happen. It always does. I tend to get so stressed out and start to worry how things are going to pan out, but something always happens. Today I have learned that the only negative thing about living alone is the fact that you spend all holidays alone. It's not the aloneness that I can't deal with, it's the fact that it's another day to eat out. Another opportunity to clean my house because I have absolutely nothing to do. Alright San Marcos, our time is getting short. I need a date. Away from this place!!!!........ Wondering if I have what it takes to be a California girl???

THAT'S A WRAP
Now that I can identify semiotics in a production, understand that typography is important, especially in advertising, that colors are important in not just being pretty, but to represent ideas, cultures, and send messages, that stereotypes are grounded in laziness, that Saul Bass is forever integrated in my life in more ways than one, that I still love film photography, that I have a lot of movies on my list, that I don't believe in censorship, though I do believe that even though you should be allowed to express yourself in any way, doesn't mean you actually should, and that the Tiananmen Square photo is having a residual effect in my head. This is just the iceberg of things that I have learned this semester. It is hard to believe that it is that time. When I started this blog, I was "looking for Waldo". Now I know that Waldo has many faces. They aren't always clear at first, but if you take the time to make an effort, you can see him in pretty much every thing. I chose this photo that I took in a Taos shop because it says to me that even though they all look the same, they are not. Each one has a unique design and all it takes is a little studying. You can look and not see, but you cannot see without looking, and that is why my blog is titled "looking to see". With finals around the corner and graduation at the bottom of the hill, I cannot wait to see which direction my life will take and I am just excited to see who I will be. I mean something is going to happen? Alright that's a wrap.

AND ACTION!!!
As we come to the final count down of class, I feel bittersweet. I have a severe case of senioritis, which is awful since I still have a year to graduate, so I am exceptionally excited for the summer break. At the same time it's a little sad; I feel so privileged to have been able to learn the things that I have this semester. I find it interesting enough that I would love to take a class like this every semester!!! Especially with Dr. Nolan. (Not sucking up! He is genuinely a great professor.) Today we talked about editing, I know that we are behind in lectures, but I would give up the editing exercise to listen to our guest speakers any day. Editing is creating something from nothing. It makes sure that the production is the required length of time, removes unwanted material or mistakes (wish I could do that in real life!), if necessary, alter the way or sequence in which events will be portrayed, and establishes the particular style and character of a production. I feel like editing is responsible for the relationship of the movie. It is it's responsibility to maintain a seemingly balanced relationship in a production full of transitions and storytelling in a "flawless" manner. Take two!

THE TIME HAS COME THE WALRUS SAID, TO TALK OF MANY THINGS
Today Jonathon Malat spoke to our class. I have had the opportunity to hear from so many great speakers this week that have really inspired me. Today this picture represents my journey as my college career is slowly but surely coming to an end. I took this outside of Old Main leaving class and this is what it means for me: I am under construction (always) things are always changing sometimes improving, sometime deteriorating, but changing all the same. That there is always light at the end of the tunnel, even if I can't initially see it clearly, and even though there is uncertainty in the great bright light, something is going to happen. Sometimes I'm the obstacle of myself and as the very inspiring RedBull commercial says, "the only thing holding you back is you." I watched We Bought a Zoo, and as Matt Damon's character says, "you only need 20 seconds of intense courage, and I promise, I promise something is going to happen." I am actively seeking my 20 seconds of intense courage and as I inch my way out, the rail will eventually end and I will be forced to let go and challenge myself beyond it.

Today Scott Rensberger came to speak to our class today. I simply loved how enthusiastic and passionate he is about telling his stories. You can tell that it is something that he loves, and I admire that. This is a photo of my "pen" story. This is a silly game that has so much meaning and history to me that I could make a short story about it. Though I have no desire to be a journalist for newspapers or broadcasting, I am strongly struggling between advertising and photojournalism. I am graduating in the very near future, so I guess I need to get it figured out. I want to do photojournalism because you get to tell a story in one image and I find that AMAZING! I like advertising because it is an opportunity to create lasting icons and change the world on so many levels... I'm looking to be the best.

Today we talked about motion, I randomly found this picture of me running to class and felt it was appropriate. There are four types of movement: Actual, Apparent, Induced and Relative. The only actual movement is in the real world. All other movement is perceived movement, and that includes photos and movies, which are just a series of photos sequenced together.

Photojournalism
I would love to be a photojournalist, but it is pictures like these that make me wonder if I would have the guts. Photojournalism isn't all about the pretty flowers and cute puppies, but about life as it is happening at that moment. It's their job to tell a story. Sometimes a happy story, and sometimes not... How do they function daily after everything they have seen, and how do they not judge people with their open eyes?

Today was a test day, so here is a lovely picture of some limes I took whilst at work. The picture doesn't do justice to how large those limes really are. They were the size of oranges, and the lime in the middle is normal. They may only be a picture of limes, but I really like it!

Visual Structure
This image is an illusion of a three- dimensional world on a two-dimensional screen surface. The basic visual components include: space, line, shape, tone, color, movement and rhythm. Looking at this image of this margarita makes me wish I could drink it all over again.

Photography Technique
This is a photo of my favorite camera. I love the control you have over it, and the control you don't have over it. Being able to adjust the f-stops and the shutter speed is exciting, and then to develop it and see what you have created. Call me old school, I j'adore black rooms. Nicephore Niepce is considered the father of photography. It makes me a little sad to know that he only made the one photograph in his life. Then you move on to Daguerre then to Talbot and so on. Now we are in to digitalization where the art of film is dying. As long as I take photos, there will always be some film in my life.

So I am pretty sure that I am missing a post from the day we didn't have class. I am sure that day was filled with all the things I shouldn't have been doing, but that is the story of my life. So to fill the void, here is the first draft of my freedom of speech project. This kind of looks like the final.

Cartoon Techniques
I amaze myself that I know more than I think I do, like George Melies' "A Trip to the Moon." Maybe I should start speaking up in class.... Back to cartoons, they are not usually considered serious, they are one of the oldest forms of communication which I always realized, but never recognized, so that was super cool, and they are one of the most complicated art forms. You have single-framed cartoons, multi-framed cartoons, comic strip, and animated films. It's fascinating to see how technology is exploding all over the place.
