With only 3 days until the interest check opens, we wanted to provide a little bit of information on what Dead Dove is, what it means to people and how its used!

Keep reading below for what dead dove is! (Potentially heavy topics ahead)

There are some of you that probably feel that you know what Dead Dove is and others that aren't sure. We just want to speak on what it means to us.

To start: Dead Dove at its core is a term used to describe dark and/or disturbing topics, generally used in fandom tags as a warning.

This has been known to include things like i/n/ce/st, S/A, abuse, and strictly taboo like topics. But, while being dead dove, those are not the only, nor even most common types, of dead dove content.

In the RadioApple fandom, for instance, the most common dead dove is cannibalism!

Of course, I'm pretty sure you and everyone within witness range of your current special interest already know that. (We are all neurodivergent here, its fine)

But Dead Dove also includes emotional manipulation, murder, body horror, addiction, monster/eldritch themes and dub-con.

Additionally, even dark academia style can teeter into dead dove. It all depends on how much the dark and/or disturbing content is described.

Is the murder planned out, pre-meditation to body removal with all steps in between walked through in great detail? That's dead dove!

This also means that deep dives into rather disturbing mental states qualify as well. From ideations of harm (self or otherwise) to an unreliable narrator that suffers reality distortions.

Dead Dove, at its core, is just a brutal interruption of virtues, innocence and/or peace.

Blasphemy is dead dove to a stouthearted believer. Or even someone struggling with that good old religious trauma TM. (who isn't in this fandom, am I right?)

The range is vast! And we ask that you consider what it is that is dark and emotional to you, and then discuss its dead dove potential below or in the comments!

I cry

I can't believe it. 148 hours of frustration, a new hatred for curtains, and a tiny bit of hope that it would turn out how I envisioned, it is FINALLY done.

I'm barely on Tumblr, but I hope this is a sign of me getting back into art a lot more. I love how this turned out. The pose, the details, the way they are looking at each other... There's room for growth, but I would dare say this is the best art piece I've ever completed.
