And he saves him right back....

The lost soul becomes the knight in shining armour.

The boys who was afraid of the dark is not afraid anymore.

I remember that was Trevor Project’s tagline a few years back: You’re not alone. Such a strong message to carry even if it’s a simple thing to say. Everyone is a support system for someone else, someone who struggles, and needs the experience and the love from someone else.

Nobody is truly ever alone even when things seem so desperate, that’s a great message of the season, Something that can resonate with everyone with or without MI, with or without coming out.

SKAM France - Season 3 Rewatch A scene for each episode : Episode 8 - Coup de tête

So many great scenes in this episode, to be honest it was difficult to choose.

But this one maybe the moment that represents the journey Lucas took. The closeted boy, disconnected of the beginning of the season, is now with his friends and his boyfriend.

Before the storm we know now id coming, everything is calm and quiet and perfect. The life he always wanted to have, surrounded by love and accepted by his friends.

They don’t know it yet but they have on last obstacle to overcome before being truly together.

But at the moment, they still are in their bubble, already sharing private jokes and soft touches. and planning their weekend.

It’s nice to see Lucas so happy and so relaxed and carefree... just enjoying the moment.

SKAM France - Season 3 Rewatch A scene for each episode : Episode 7 - Assumer

They are so lost in each other... what a marvellous scene.

Do I need to talk about this one? I think everything that needed to be said has been in fact been said.

I never thought they will show so much skin on French TV, to be honest.

It is me or the room temperature is off the charts all of the sudden?

Allow me to cheat a little bit but can we also talk about how every single one of the parties involved in this episode is absolutely perfect? Chloe for understanding, Yann for doing a marvellous mea culpa, Basile and Arthur for being so supportive.

Also, this episode contains one of my favourite line of the entire show: “Artiste, c'est vraiment un truc de fumiste...” First of all, nobody says "fumiste" anymore sweetie. He's trying to be so defensive towards Eliott not knowing what to expect from him, so again he attacks to protect himself, but this is the cutest attack ever, because he can't with Eliott. Absolutely no willpower whatsoever... My sweet baby, I give you points only for trying, you got to appreciate the effort...

SKAM France - Season 3 Rewatch A scene for each episode : Episode 6 - Insomnie

A though one, as things are getting difficult for dear little Lulu.

But good for Lucas standing for himself, and speaking his mind.

The little baby hedgehog is back spiking before thinking because he’s hurt and he thought Eliott was going to protect him and shield him from the pain. His reaction may be a little dramatic (but come on, it's Lucas, of course he's going to storm out, leaving his audience - i.e. Eliott - all alone) is completely understandable. It's coming from pain, from a situation he now knows too well : a person he loves disappoints him again, leaving him alone and quite lost.

It was harsh to watch, our heart aching for him, but he has decided to not settle for anything, even for Eliott.

Good for you my dear, it takes courage to do stuff like that, not forgetting who you are and what to need, even if for love.

Of course, with a little hindsight, the well-deserved conversation between them was inevitable and Eliott was reaching for Lucas. But we didn’t know that at the moment and Lucas didn’t either, so I stand by it. Self-protecting mechanism, that’s wise.

Don’t worry beautiful boy, you’ll get there, you two just need a little more time…

SKAM France - Season 3 Rewatch A scene for each episode : Episode 5 - Au même moment, à l’autre bout de l’univers

This may be my second favorite shot of the season.

Behind closed doors, where no one can see him, Lucas is finally living the best of his life.

Of course, the entire scene is wonderfull, and filled with such sweet moments, but this is the moment right after the events of the night have sunk in (the little conversation about being the first boy he kissed) and just before dwelling into the moment with Eliott.

This is a surrender for Lucas, he gets to live the moment at its fullest, letting Eliott taking control of the situation, of his body, guiding him in new territories with so much trust.

A pure moment of bliss where he is in Eliott’s arms, and where he lets himself be.

His look on his face, his genuine smile, this is the most romantic and the happiest moment of his life.

Happy Lulu is the best Lulu of all.

SKAM France - Season 3 Rewatch A scene for each episode : Episode 4 – Le garçon qui avait peur du noir

This may be my favorite moment of the season.

Again with the biggest eye contact contest of all time (seriously, they need a medal for this) I love how the dynamic is switching right here from their previous interractions....

I think the moment Eliott decided to bring Lucas at La Petite Ceinture , he also decided what he was going to do (the way I describe the thing, Eliott is serial killer…) So he plays a little bit, postposing the moment he will kiss Lucas, playing with this instant. He wants to relish on it. Because he is sure of what he is feeling and where it’s going to lead them.

Lucas, on the other hand, is getting frustrated with the situation. Apart from the fact he’s with a weirdo who’s trying the scare him, he doesn’t want to play anymore. He’s searching reassurance from Eliott who is supposed to be the one with experience and confidence. But Eliott is denying him of something, so Lucas is trying to figure out what is the goal here: Am I just your new friend you like to hang out with? Am I something more? Am I reading the signals so wrongly? You can actually read all the questions and all the doubts written on his (beautiful) face. Poor sweet baby Lulu...

I love the duality of the scene, they are aiming for the same goal here, but not at the same pace and not with the same set of mind. I’ve always watched this scene thinking Lucas was getting annoyed with Eliott for making him wait, scared he had read the wrong signals. While Eliott is toying with the moment, trying to take his time and not wasting any second of it.

I LOVE this moment, I LOVE the way it’s shot, I LOVE the way they played it.

Not more dancing around after this…

I also love the moment right after this one. When Eliott is switching the light off one more time, just after almost kissing Lucas. You can hear Lucas laughing, and see him smiling. I think it was the final go for him, after that everything is unfolding so easily. Eliott is waiting for Lucas under the pouring rain, Lucas’s going forward, with a smile on this face. No more reassurance needed, he was just – almost - kissed by the boy he likes, he knows it’s his turn to make a statement.

So he’s playing the Polaris card. Well done, Lulu !

So yeah, talk about defining moment… This one I think is one the most important of their story.

SKAM France - Season 3 Rewatch A scene for each episode : Episode 3 – Infiltration

And the staring contest keeps on going… Just after having the biggest staring contest while kissing their respective girlfriend (seriously les mecs?) they walk back to Lucas’… Except this time, they are actually looking at each other and speaking to each other.

After Lucas’s fishing information “Donc là, tu te vois direct avec une nouvelle meuf ? ” and Eliott’s quite honest answer “Pas forcément une meuf d'ailleurs” they gave each other some closure on what must be a big storm in their respective heads. The way Lucas is turning his head like it’s going to explode towards Eliott is priceless: Did you just say what I think you said?

They just have to take a leap of faith. Not that easy, I may add, maybe they are not ready for it, maybe Eliott doesn’t trust himself for being totally honest with Lucas, maybe he’s afraid of Lucas’ reaction…. or maybe he simply understands this is a major moment for them.

Lucas is definitely not ready for being the one instigating the big move, he’s still a baby, trying to understand his feelings and what they mean.

So as an answer to the piano scene, they are continuing their little game they love so much, like a dare, trying to pass what they want to say by not saying it (and staring at each other like they want to read each other soul) : If you kiss me right now, I’ll let you

But for the moment, nobody is brave enough to do so… If only Manon had stayed in London with shithead Charles… (well, we like Manon, we don’t wish this for her… or for anyone else for that matter, it’s just she’s major mood killer) I’m pretty sure Eliott was on the verge on jumping on Lucas’ lips.

Guess we never know…

SKAM France - Season 3 Rewatch A scene for each episode : Episode 2 – La curiosité

One of the (many) perfect scenes of this season…

The way Lucas is completely lost in the moment, the way Eliott is looking at him like he is discovering a whole new person, the way the playfulness of before is completely forgotten by the seriousness of this defining moment.

A lot of people talk about the way Eliott reacts to Lucas playing the piano, because of course this is the moment he’s falling head over heels for Lucas, but what strikes me the most is Lucas.

For the first time in the 3 seasons we saw him, like this is the first time we can actually really see who he is, through all the walls he has build around him. All the guard down, no more mask to wear, no more game to play. This is it. He’s a dorky boy, filled with passion and emotions he sometimes doesn’t know how to express.

For me, it’s almost an answer of the long stare Eliott was giving him in episode 1. Lucas is replying to Eliott “Yes, I saw you back there, and this is me. It’s all I have to give, I played my cards too, so let’s play the game together now. If you want… ? ”

The way he looks back to Eliott at the end of the song, almost realizing what he’s just done, eyes filled with so much emotions, questions and all the insecurities we know and love:

Was it ok ? Was it too much? Am I too much?  Are you in… ?

SKAM France - Season 3 Rewatch A scene for each episode : Episode 1 – Je crois que je suis amoureux

It has to be that scene, even if (sue me) I love the scene at Emma’s party, where Lucas drops on Chloe the BIGGEST coolest shit he can. I know it’s all a lie but seing him trying to be confident and cool and casual had me laughing (and a little bit cringing) on my couch. (okay, maybe it's the side effect of the jean shirt, but let's try to keep on track here)

Ok, back to this scene, where everything is about the looks they gave to each other. This scene defines the beginning of their relationship, Eliott being the one instigating the looks and Lucas trying (and failing immensely) to look anywhere but back to Eliott.

Again, at my first watch I didn’t fully understand what Eliott was doing here. But knowing that Eliott already knows Lucas, I can see now everything is done with purpose, he looks at Lucas with such intensity saying “Ok, you’re here boy, I've got your attention now. I’m not letting you go, ever. Look at me, because you and me, we’re going to live the biggest epic romance of all time”

It's almost like a dare for Eliott, - I dare you to look away, I dare you not to look back at me, I dare you to tell me you're not feeling it too - and Lucas even if he's trying very hard, has to give up and enter the little game Eliott's started.

As we’re looking at this scene through Lucas’ eyes, Eliott is screaming confidence, which is probably not the case at all. Eliott is probably as freaked out as Lucas…

Oh, my dear little baby Lucas, this is the beginning of the rest of your life. You just don't know it yet...

SKAM France - Season 3 Rewatch A scene for each episode : Teaser

Ok, I’m cheating a little bit with this one, because it’s not an episode. But I had to include it. 

Eliott is looking from afar, because he knows right at the second he’s laying eyes on Lucas, his life will be turned upside down by him. And Lucas, little bouncy boy so caught up in his group of friends, doesn’t even take a second to turn around and to see his life has changed forever. 

If only you knew then... 

Also, being a late watcher, I didn’t catch the teaser before watching the season. So I didn’t understand Eliott’s “The first time I saw you wasn’t at the foyer” line. I had to go for a hunt of 3 hours to find this teaser.

I’m still debating with myself if I’m disappointed or not to have skip the teaser for my first watch. Discovering Eliott through Lucas’ eyes (as we’re supposed to) was a great experience. I remember holding my breath (because, come on, who looks like this?) and also because I knew Lucas was so gone... It was the beginning and the end for him…
